I was adamantly against SFxTekken at first for all the bullshit gem stuff and the balance issues, console exclusive characters (still not cool with this one), glitches, and timer scam stuff, but after it had its patches and such I got it and you know what? That shit was a lot of fun. The tag combos and tools in it were some of the most satisfying tools I've played in a team based fighter. I'd place them over TAC anyday of the week.

Bad start. Horrible PR for it with the whole cross assault debacle and 12 characters locked on disc sold as on disc DLC later, and all the other shit that went down but in the end it was a really fun game that just needed more time before coming out to get its shit together...that and a completely different DLC strategy. Fuck pay 4 combo gems.

Am I being unreasonable in thinking we may not even get a real update to Xrd due to the game's reportedly abysmal sales?

:(
An ASW guy was in here a few weeks ago saying the game was exceeding expectations in the west.

Worse comes to worst, they can BlazBlue it and charge us $50 a year for an update with 2 measly characters, and we'll probably support it.

I agree. I think the bad start really hurt it but its a good game after the patch.
I just really wish the art-style and music was better.

But Blazblue doesn't do that
Every year

Yeah, the first version of a new(in a generational sense) FG usually sells the best, but Xrd seems to be an unfortunate exception. Even worse considering that it's supposed to be the least poverty anime fighter.

As I suspected all along, everyone praising GG was just windbagging :p

Fake fake edit: It turns out the Cronus Max Plus and Titan One converters are now legal for Evo (when in Tournament Mode). I know the original versions of these devices were really awful and caused a ton of problems but if they really made good on addressing the issues the converters had, they start looking a lot more appealing.

Of the three current fighting games from that developer, xrd sold the worst in Japan. And unlike the other two Xrd isn't an update. It's a full blown new iteration to the franchise.
I don't think Xrd doing the worst in Japan is a huge surprise though, given it's rather meager performance in arcades. I wouldn't be surprised if the sales of their three recent FGs were/are flipped in the US.

I can see this being handy for fighting games.

Where'd you order it? I'm looking for an affordable place to get it in Canada.

I can assure you it was not affordable.

It was 150 us plus 56 shipping or something like that.

After exchange it came to 256 or something like that.... My wallet got hit by a dust.

Nope, Mr. Wizard jumped the gun there.

Apparently when you are playing vs mode on PS4, and the device tries to re-auth it goes to the profile select screen. Not acceptable for Evo

Actually, they are both banned again until they get the PS4 stuff sorted out.

SFxT is quite good now after the patch, though the character balance is still off. It was supposed to be that the SF cast excelled at zoning while the Tekken cast excelled at rushdown and combo strings, now the Tekken cast is just great at everything.

EDIT: If you play SFxT on 360 at all, add me. GT is Norieaga.

@pattheflip is live-tweeting ArcSys' Junya Motomura's GDC lecture regarding GGXrd's art production. Started about a half-hour ago. Hopefully the lecture is available online somewhere after GDC, because it seems like they did a bunch of really interesting (and totally insane) things to make GGXrd work at a technical level.

After deciding to go all in on learning how to use these free game engines, this stuff is very relevant to my interests.

I still look at Xrd's visuals thinking they're straight up witchcraft sometimes.

Yes.

Game can't be done before we get Johnny, Jam and Baiken.

And Dizzy. Hell, they already have models for Johnny and Dizzy. I wouldn't be surprised if the genius dragon guy (forgot his name) was made a character. ASW just doesn't seem like the company to let a completed asset go to waste.

Just cuz you got zombies and mummies in your game don't mean it has anything on vsav...

I will say that every new design I hear about from ki sounds like it has some cool mechanics tho. I kinda wish it didn't have that weird combo system cuz most everything else seems appealing to me.

For anyone who cares

@levelupseries: [SCR Update] We're using the latest Blazblue Chrono Phantasma Extend #SCR2015

When Scalebound drops, I might try KI.
It's either that or everyone's Rock Band DLC from the X360 that's going to get people to buy XBones. (and I already have a copy of KI S1 from a promo Microsoft was running at launch, oddly enough.)

Isn't that a week or so after the JP version releases? I could see BBCPEX getting fewer players than Skullgirls at SCR. D:

Yeah, it comes out the week of NWM too. We've been wrestling with that fact, lol.

Fucking finally.

It's annoying being an importer and having to deal with some badly coded games. Some games look at your console's region to pick confirm/cancel, others are hard coded in, some games allow button configuration but menus use console region settings, etc.

JP games have it right? :-O

Yup. I'm all for preferences and allowing button configurations, but some games are just badly coded in regards to this.
