Okay, that has never happened before. The doll in the Hunter's Dream was
sleep talking or something when I walked by her (without interacting with her). She said: "O flora, of the moon, of the dream. O little ones, O fleeting will of the ancients... Let the hunter be safe, let her find comfort. And let this dream, her captor...foretell a pleasant awakening... be, one day, a fond, distant memory..." When I spoke to her, she acted as if she had drifted off into sleep
.

She also can be seen paying respects to a tombstone at the chapel's top exit.

What's the requirements for the weapon
Burial blade (Scythe)

I want to know if I need to level up my skill or not

I made a video of my Rom kill

Motherfucker took me like 10 tries. I ran out of Vials and farmed them for about an hour, and I got him on my first try after that. So much unnecessary farming :p
Why aren't killing some of the spiders first? Seems way too risky. Beat him on the third try after getting 1 shot-ed from full health twice.

Two later Chalice Dungeon questions:

1.) Recommended level for
Defiled Lv2 boss Watchdog
? Got him down to ~10% but he can also OHK me pretty easily, I'm Lv125 w/ 40 Vit.

2.) What's the difference with the
"Uncanny" variations of weapons
? Thanks to a friendly Gaffer's post, I snagged the
Uncanny Burial Blade
but it's not clear what the advantage might be, besides different shapes of blood gems.

Gaf I have a confession,
I'm old now and have too much things to do and not enough time to game as I used to.
Long story long I was weak and used the item dupe glitch to buff mycharacter a little.

Something something facetiously judging you, something something it's OK bro. Really though, it's your money play in the way that you enjoy and get your money's worth. If you can't give the time to buckle down and learn enemy patterns and farm some souls, then it ain't no thing. As long as you're having fun, that's what counts.

Bloodborne is shit
I think I'm pretty deep into the game and I'd like to check out some of the optional stuff before I press on. Epicnamebro's vids are good and thorough but they're just rolling in too slowly. Theres about 1000 other walk throughs out there, can anyone make a recommendation? I'm looking more for thoroughness and discovery than I am tactics.

A lot of enemies in the
Gaol/Prison
area drop them. If you need to get there, get grabbed/die to
one of those enemies that hold the bag and charge up after hitting them once. One of them is in a corner of the first area if you head straight out of the Cathedral (straight, not west) - it'll be in the corner in that first little area before the staircase. There's also a cool armor set in Gaol/Prison area if you leave the building you get taken to, then head down the stairs past the big pig.

Are you talking about the guys with the big walking sticks? I'm walked out of
Catherdral Ward
straight and stick guy slapped me around, but he didn't grab me.

So I apparently whacked out my first play-through. When I initially got to the cathedral, I knew a boss fight was coming at the time. I was low on everything at that point cause I was doing an exploration run. Then I likely called it a night.

Fast forward to my next plays and I totally forgot about the cathedral. I instead go towards the
Witch
and defeat the area. Then getting teleported to Hypogean Gaol on death, I started wrecking havoc there. So I then go on to have an intense battle with the
Darkbeast
, defeating him...

Had to check online to find where my brain went blank. I do like how From games allow this progression branching however jumping the way I did, made me fearlessly cutting through the spots I jumped. It's a bit anti-climatic. I did though have an on edgy finish with the
shadows
. Was on the last one with that ridic RE limb crap and had only enough health to basically die on one hit. I scored a last ditch critical, charged, and then chipped out the last health in 3 hits. So that was a highlight at least during some fearless trudging.

Just finished the
Witch
last night, and after getting trapped and worked on by the paralysis projectile. I beat her second time around.

Yes, your progress is untouched by entering ng+ and the difficultt of chalices do not increase by going into NG+. But as a warning, if you're trying to platinum the game, try getting the materials needed for the final chalice related to the gold chalice trophy before starting NG+. One of the materials required for the final chalice can't be obtained until the end of the game. I forgot about it and now have to play through most of the game again. Not too bad, but if time is important to you, just make sure you get it beforehand.

Thanks, much appreciated. Definitely hanging out in NG for a bit yet at least, but very good to know.

No not him, but he's very close to the enemy I'm talking about. Go into the corner of that "room" and you should find another enemy type. Like basically keep hugging the right wall as you exit the Cathedral and go around the wagon thing (kill the cane guy) and keep going into the corner.

How are people fighting VA without using the hunter key on that gate? I had to buy it to even get to that area.

Still can't beat her by the way. Should I just continue on to the left and right sections, or go back to old yarnham? Did I find that area too soon?

I will say the game is still very challenging, I've just cut out the hours of farming like you said.

I'm the type that doesn't care what someone does as long as it's not ruining the experience for others. I don't believe you duping items to raise your level harms other players, so I don't see a problem with it. I too have limited time to game, however I'm pushing through the game anyway. Once I beat it legit I'll probably uninstall the game and its patches, then play it vanilla so I can dupe on a bunch of characters to complete builds I'd otherwise not have time to do myself.

I've watched how to to the glitch, and even gave a thought about it. But I think the game was too good and I should experience without worrying too much about maximizing my stats, so I have not made use of the glitch. Actually I don't regret... I'm doing fine and am not stopping with the intention to farm echoes nowhere... what I do is just help people in co-op so I end up stocking a bunch of echoes when I stop.

It's not a game that recquires too much farm... in fact everything comes naturally and at the right time.

Edit: And there's also the fact that if you level up too much, you won't find players to co-op.

This Eileen quest seems buggy. I talked to her in the Sewers in the first part of the game but never found her anywhere else. I explored a lot of the Cathedral area and eventually moved on and defeated the optional boss,
BSB
. I realized I never lit the lamp for Tomb of Odeon and wanted to see if Eileen was there so I walked there from the Cathedral Ward and activated the lamp. Eileen was nowhere to be found.

I went back to exploring in the Cathedral and cleared most of the area. I didn't want to fight the boss here yet so I kept going and eventually found a path leading to a cave. I had amassed around 30K echoes so I decided to use a 'Bold Hunter's Mark' to teleport back and spend them before continuing.

I forgot that the last lamp I had activated was the Tomb of Odeon and when I awoke, I was immediately jumped by a NPC hunter. A short time into the battle, Eileen runs out and engages him. I dispatched the hunter and talked to Eileen. It looks like the next step comes after the boss,
Rom
.

I had been through Odeon a couple of times prior to this so it seems odd how this quest phase finally triggered from warping via the mark. I never engaged the boss of the Cathedral area (some people suggested this may be the trigger) and I never found Eileen anywhere else in the Cathedral area where she supposedly tells you about the hunter in Odeon and gives you an emote.

Meanwhile, my wife is also playing the game and missed Eileen in the sewers. She checked prior to
BSB
and after
BSB
and cannot find Eileen anywhere in the Cathedral zone or at the Tomb.

So tips for
shadow of yharman?

I took out the aggressive one first. After I killed him I could stand behind the pillar and be in cover from the fire one, while slashing the guy with the fire sword. When only the fire one was left and he started summoning the big snakes, I just went right at him and kept staggering him.

Farming vials right now. Ugh.

After maybe 15 tries got Rom down to 20% but it's a pain in the ass. There's no way to consistently avoid the
ice projectiles
, right?

I'd stay locked on him and strafe left or right and if they started to get close I'd sprint a bit.

Anyone have strats/tips for the Castle Boss? For some reason he's just kicking my ass.

Nothing to apologize over...but if From can detect that you've done it. I recall From banning people from playing online on the consoles for one of their titles (Demon's Souls / Dark Souls...) can't remember which.

I dont know why, but i really hate to get invaded and lose in the Souls games. For some reason, i find it so annoying. Maybe because its a thing that happends that i didnt request.

Ring you co-op bell and kill the firecaster first.

Can confirm. Coop on these guys was super easy. Just watch out for ninja wannabe.

Got Rom on 2nd try solo. You can dodge ice just start running when he lights up then roll as they land avoid damage. I usually suck at boss fights in souls games and he was one of the easier ones. Just slow and methodical.

Go to the left section there's a useful mechanic that unlocks once you beat the boss there.

It just hurts more to die knowing you lost to another player... :p
Hehe, that may be :) But i dont get annoyed that much when dying in other competitive games. Although those games are mostly FPS and such where you can die several of times in each round, maybe its "worse" when playing 1vs1, like fighting games (i dont play too many of those).

20-25 hours in, and I still cannot get the timing to riposte the big enemies with the brick slabs. They should be fairly easy too, as they are quite common in the game. :(

Can you break combos?

I'm struggling with one of the hunters
in the cathedral
, I know you can cheese him and I'm almost at that point, but I'd like to beat him.

It's just that he will do a 3 hit combo and I'm dead. I have no idea how to break out of that.

you want to shoot them during

a) the charge, which is one big 'parry window'
b) when they pull back their right arm for a single punch

they have other attacks you can counter but those moves are very common and easy to aim for. Bear in mind that the guys with bigger weapons you fight later on have stricter windows for counters.
