do people not understand how tier lists work anymore? A friend of mine tried to convince me that T Hawk is top tier even thought he admitted he has a ton of bad match ups.

Now how does that make since? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't tier list determined by how many match ups you are dominant or weak to?

Not exactly. That's the way characters are typically arranged on matchup charts, but an actual tier list has to take other stuff into account, like weighting the matchups.

ie. Make a Brawl character with straight fives for matchups, one wins against Meta Knight and loses to Zelda, the other against wins against Zelda but loses to Meta Knight. An unweighted matchup rating would value the characters the same while one should be far ahead of the other on the tier list. Or take Abel in SF4. Blows up lower tier characters, doesn't do that well against the top. In points, very good. In practice less so.

Prevalence can play a part too: Would you rather play a character who does bad against Akuma than a character who does bad against Evil Ryu or Elena in the US?

I cant handle this splatoon talk like its next coming of jesus. It's a game on the Wiiu. Calm down.

did paul always have a falcon punch? holy hell does it do damage in T7

It does like 60-70% on CH in TT2. With rage....it probably sends them to the moon.

If Splatoon was coming out on Steam and all other consoles, it would be the second coming of jesus lol

Edit:

Canadian Marvel players have a hard on for Joker, like seriously, every time he drops a combo:

Very uncharacteristic of Joker

Dude fucking drops combos almost every match I've seen him play.

no it wouldnt. PC gaming is highly competitive market. I don't think a japanese game with limited online functionality would set the world on fire.

Its like Call of Duty that is actually for kids and it looks fun as hell. The reason why I mention PC is cause its Nintendo and its mirroring TF2, one of the most popular games on Steam. Also, what's with the limited online functionality? No mic? Come on.

Nope, if it wasn't a Nintendo game it would not be getting much attention.

exclusives always get disproportionate amounts of hype

See, I can understand weighting like the strengths of a character, but doesn't that take into account when you figure out matchups? Like, would E Ryu really be top tier even if he still did monster damage but lets say he struggled to get in close range to do that damage with over 50% of the cast (ridiculous notion but just an example.)

Why does it bother you that people are hype for a game you don't care about? Just continuing ignoring it and moving along with your day. *shrug*

WHAT? What is this foolishness you speak of??? this is the internet, you dont know how this works? I NEED to express my opinions on something instead of keeping it to myself!

I don't disagree but I think just based on the mechanics and aesthetics that the game would be getting attention just due to how it stands out.

The company who still uses friend codes, and online account system that ties the games to the hardware. Ya... lets put out trust in that. Overwatch has a better chance of being of being successful. The idea is cool, but I have no faith in nintendo. Sorry.

Spoilers: Call of Duty is actually for kids too.

That's what you use to come up with matchup ratings. I am talking about not all matchups being as valuable as others even if the rating is the same. It basically doesn't matter if my character does well against Deejay. That he does well against Evil Ryu or Elena matters a lot. Guile 8-2'd Bison and was a pretty okay character in general. Now imagine a Guile that 8-2'd Cammy instead?

Wut. Wii U never used friend codes.

Do you REALLY want it? There aren't going to be that many people playing it online and most Tekken heads will be playing T7 anyway.

Uh, yeah, I do. T7 is at least a year away and a version of TTT2 that doesn't look like an eyesore would be nice to have in the interim. I'm sure they could add an extra mode or Revolution characters or something to provide some incentive for those that have already purchased it.

Besides all that T7 isn't a Tag game, so I see little reason for people to ignore it completely just because T7 is in arcades in Japan.

They're not going to release TTT2 on next gen prior to T7 coming out. Would hurt sales.

I don't know... I don't see much benefit for Namco in re-releasing TTT2 for the newer consoles. It would be cool to have it just like it would be cool to have TTT2 on PC but it's a matter of economics. The more modes/content they add, the more budget and resource the re-release takes up from T7.

And that's the other issue. I feel like they are pretty close to T7 where a TTT2 being released on next-gen consoles would compete with T7. If they wanted to re-reelase TTT2, then they would've done it already so that there would've been enough gap in between TTT2 remaster and T7.

Then again From Software did that with Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne which ended up benefiting Dark Souls 2 so I am not sure if this is a legit enough reason. Fighting games are a bit different than the Souls games... most people don't go back to previous versions when the new one is out.

I was hitting up some MKX online earlier, and it seems the online is vastly improved. I was getting more matches where win/loss odds were in the 50%ish range, green bars, etc.

Granted I still had a few matches where the opponent stood no damn chance against me where my win odds were 95% before going in, but I had more close matches than ever and lost quite a few as well.

All in all great patch on PS4.

How long is this gen gonna be next gen.

Probably till we stop getting PS3 and 360 exclusives and/or cross-gen games.

I know it's hard for me to stop thinking of Gen 7 as the "current" generation since I'm still looking forward to some major games coming out for PS3, like Persona 5. I know that's also a PS4 game now but it still feels like a Gen 7 game to me.

I find it hard to believe I'd be the only one willing to pay for a high-fidelity TTT2. Can't possibly cost much to produce and again, it's a Tag game. I don't see why they can't co-exist, and it'd be something to tide people over until T7. Hell, make it a digital only release.

When it's worthy of being called something else.

Yeah, I think it's just you. Sounds like an awful value proposition and I don't think the fact that it's a tag game matters to the broad market of people who want a Tekken. Plus when would you even release it? Sounds like a bad idea from like every angle.
