What is The Elder Scrolls Online?
ESO is a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. It has been in development since before work started on Skyrim. It brings the main areas on Tamriel together in one game. It is set before the events of Skyrim and Oblivion - the Empire has collapsed and war has begun over the Ruby Throne.

KEY FEATURES include a fully persistent open world across Tamriel, multiplayer including up to 1500 people in Cyrodiil fighting, deep customisation (including dying armor), a very casual and accessible approach (there are no random numbers appearing on screen here - the UI is very minimal - if you played Skyrim, you know how to play this game), stealing, murder etc.

Three factions war over the highlighted locations. The game contains PVE (Player vs Environment) - the map is bigger than Skyrim, Morrowind and Oblivion combined - with over 1000 quests. They can be tackled solo, or as a group. The game also features PVP (Player vs Player) in Cyrodiil - the map from Oblivion. In PVP, thousands of players fight over forts and Elder Scrolls (think Capture the Flag).

There are four classes: Dragonknight, Templar, Sorcerer, and Nightblade. Classes will only give players 3 exclusive skill lines, and do not affect a character's other choices. For example, you can be a very stealthy Sorcerer who wears heavy armor and wields a bow.

It is very important to select the right faction. You can only play with friends in the same faction - pick your side over the war in Tamriel wisely.

Solo play
A significant portion of the game -- hundreds of hours of content -- can be completed entirely solo. The main quests, and Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild are all solo only, for example.

GUILDS
Information about NeoGAF guilds will be posted here on launch.

Is the game free to play?
No. You need to buy the game.

Video review?
IGN - 8 out of 10 - "There's a ton of great content in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited waiting for solo and group-focused players alike, including crafting, PvP, four-man dungeons, and raid-like Trials at the endgame. " - http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/06/10/the-elder-scrolls-online-tamriel-unlimited-review

Meristation - 8.7 out of 10 - "A great game that manages to merge some of the best aspects of TES and MMOs results in a remarkable title on new gen consoles. Great progression, tons of options, fun combat, an insane amount of content and a very promising PVP are some of its virtues." - http://www.meristation.com/playstation-4/the-elder-scrolls-online/analisis-juego/1872639

XGN - 8 out of 10 - "The Elder Scrolls Online is a fantastic game which offers hundreds of hours of gameplay. The world looks impressive, but when playing alone, other players spoil a lot for you. Despite the hiccups the game has, this is a must have in your collection." - http://www.xgn.nl/review/the-elder-scrolls-online-tamriel-unlimited-review

Most reviews are still in progress due to the size of the game.

Is there a day one patch?
Yes, 15.9gb on PS4, similar size on Xbox One. This is because the game was too big to fit on the Blu-Ray disc.

Has the game changed much since the PC launch in early 2014?
Yes. Much of the criticism they received in PC reviews has been directly addressed.

How similar is the game to the PC version?
It's feature for feature exactly the same, along with the same content. The game runs at 1080p30 on PS4 and XB1. It adds fully directional (surround sound!) voice chat.

How much content is in the game?
Well over 1000 quests. I've played the PC version for 520 hours and I'm less than half way through the soloable content. This game is huge. There are also 12 4-player dungeons (think Destiny strikes), and 3 12-player trials (think Destiny raids).

Is there cross play between PC, PS4 and Xbox One?
No. There is no crossplay.

Are the servers working?
The Europe server is generally very good stability wise. The North America server continues to be intermittently unavailable.

Where is the rest of the OT?
WIP.

Trying desperately to decide between digital and physical.

If I go digital I can play all Monday night and Tuesday night. If I go physical I can't play until Tuesday night then work will keep me away until Sunday. But I have the imperial edition preordered and I really want that statue.

Maybe both and sell the physical copy.

What are the major changes since PC Pay2Play launch outside Buy2Play? I remember seeing that scathing Angry Joe video and being put off. He was not blindly hating, his video had legitimate points and where explained.

I remember reading from the PC release that this game... well, sucked. Did it get much better a la Realm Reborn?

I significant portion of AngryJoe's criticisms (many very valid) have been addressed since PC launch over a year ago. Also, the game is not free - you still have to buy it.

With native controller support and no monthly fee I'm banking on ESO being the first MMO to click with me. Hoping for the best!

I still think that most of the hate at launch was because it's sort of halfway between a standard Elder Scrolls game and an MMO, so both crowds had issues with it. Single player Elder Scrolls fans may miss the massive exploration and not like the level gating. MMO fans might hate the barebones UI and being limited to 6 items on your action bar. Though probably the biggest barrier for the single player Elder Scrolls fans was the monthly fee, which is gone now, and so far I wouldn't consider this pay to win AT ALL. Not even close.

Most of the changes since launch are small quality of life fixes, but they add up to give an overall smoother experience. Better management of grouping while questing, responsiveness in using skills and swapping weapons, things like that.

Presumably they were too busy with console launch, but I'd have picked up at launch if they'd put the controller support in the PC edition.

Really looking forward to downloading this when I get home and checking it out this weekend. I played the PC version on launch for a few weeks but didn't really want to resub, so B2P and a PS4 release for $20 was enough to win me over.

Most people hated this because a bugs n not much content end game at launch plus wheb it came out skyrim modding was at a high. The game looks to me in some places alot better than non modded skyrim. But because skyrim was getting heavy mods then like the enb n stuff people were saying this looked like ass etc.

Me personally i have played skyrim for around 15 hours n it just wernt clicking with me. But this game was.

It could be because Michael gambon (dumbledore) does the main story voice and it sounds god like

Does anyone who owns the Xbox One version of the game have a glitch where the preload has fully downloaded, but is showing 0 GB installed / downloaded?

Yea, I remember this now. So many quests were bugged out. I had several quests from level 5 to 30 that I kept in my log and would go back to check on every time they patched. Sometimes you would get stuck on a main quest and become unable to continue.

I know that a large part of the game can be soloed. Has anyone actually done this with the PC version?

I leveled all the way to level 50, then through all of the veteran levels (vr10 at the time), and I did it all solo. The only exception is that I ran about half the group dungeons along the way.

Was it fun to solo? It must have been if you played that much. I'm looking at this as more of a solo experience interrupted by bouts of teaming up. Worth it for this approach?

My PS4 has this pre loaded and is ready to go. I wonder if we'll encounter any launch day issues with the servers. I sure hope not.

Has anyone decided on their race or class yet? I'm going with a dark elf mage and will be joining team Ebonheart.

Still waiting to be allowed to "pre-install" this due to buying from the ESO store, what a treat.

It will take me 3 days to download based on the size so I'll see you all on Thursday on the PS4

I thought it was fun. Fun enough that I'm getting the console version to do it again. (starting a new character even though I have the PC transfer. I'll be using my existing character as a crafting bot.) I had friends to play with, but they all powered to max level and then quit. I paid attention to the quests and took my time, so I was lower level than them and played mostly solo.

Great. Thanks. just may pull the trigger.

Number one tip: if you start skipping the voice overs, you will quit the game. That's the pattern on ESO forums. As then you don't know what the quests or story are about and you just race to the end, then have nothing to do.

That's exactly what I'm going to do. Go through the quests, reading everything and mostly playing solo as well. Loved the Beta on PS4.

Is the single player experience equivalent to that of skyrim? I don't do online games/MMORPG and would likely play something like this completely solo.

Wow it's finnaly here. I can't wait! I have about 7-8 people jumping on with me tomorrow. We usually play Destiny religiously. It will be nice to have a slower more in depth game to play. I am looking forward to taking my time and just explore the world and work my way through the quests with some buddies.
