Windows Phone Gaf hates it
because Snapchat's CEO has some sort of vendetta against Microsoft and won't make an app for Windows Phone

i'm 22 and it's probably one of the most used apps on my phone right now. I send stuff that I don't want to take the time to actually photograph well and send over a text. Usually it will be like a quick little visual gag or random pic of wherever I am.

I also follow a few well known internet people and they usually post a lot of stuff to their public story.

i use it at shows for cool shit i can't be bothered to send to specific people, quickly. it's really simple and quick, i like it a lot.

Don't use it that much but I like the idea of a social media/communication platform that doesn't 'remember' everything.

It's for kids - early 20s dudes. Don't try to get into it. I mean, it's fine, I'm not being despective, but you won't get it, it plays a bit with the psychological state of that generation.

No he doesn't. This gets repeated so much nothing bar one tweet to back it up, and that's a stretch at best.

will learn eventually
I don't get it. 26 here and have no idea why I would want Snapchat.
I have a group chat with my close friends on WhatsApp where we post pictures as well, so it seems utterly useless.
Why would I want to send random pictures to people I don't care about? And why would I look at pictures of people I don't care about, taking pictures of stuff they barely care about?

My problem with the app is that I have never thought to take pictures of many things to begin with. Facebook has trained me to take pictures like once every few months whereas Snapchat is predicated on selfies and pictures of random shit daily....which isn't an enjoyable thing to me. I just don't have the urge to constantly take pictures of stuff.

Snapchat isn't random people though. People seem to think it's like chatroulette or something.

I love it. I'm in my late twenties and use it daily. Tons of my friends do too. Also, I follow some cool celebrities. I also hear following porn stars can be fun but I haven't tested that yet.

I used it for a while but lost interest, people just go crazy over it though. Seems like they use it to share random stuff they're doing during the day.

I have never received sexual stuff so can't comment on that stuff.

I'm 26 and most of my friends use it, but I haven't. I've also been married for several years though, so getting nudie pics isn't a priority for me. I assume that's a large part of the draw based on what I've heard about it, but I could be mistaken.
I'm not big on social media in general though. I mostly just use a shared Photo Stream on iOS to share baby pics and stuff and occaisionally get on Facebook

You can think of part of it like a more informal instagram... Instagram is such bs and sucks nowadays. Its decent for some things i guess, but not the personal real you.

Also the discovery section is pretty rad because its a quick way of experiencing first hand accounts of live events youre not a part of. This is prob my fav part of the app.

don't get it. If I wanna send pics to someone I just use whatsapp or line or whatever

but can you do it quickly to a bunch of people that arent in the one chat??

as far as i can tell the quickness and the filters is the main benefit of snapchat.... and it doesnt save the chats/pics

I found the app layout very confusing. Nothing made me feel older than trying snapchat.

Haha very true. Terrible UI imo, but i think it also goes to show how the current youth generation is so used to having no buttons/visual layout... Its all just swipes and taps without a button, digital or physical. Either way once you learn t its not too bad. Just gotta adapt to the times or be old, stop progressing, and wither away as a stone age grandpa. Because things inthe future wont be getting any easier

It's cool in moderation. My friend started using it and he now has to post EVERY aspect of his life on snapchat. Then he gets mad that people know all about his business despite he himself putting it out there.

The UI is a mess and it's a battery hog.

I can see the appeal of posting silly (and stupid) pictures/videos/chats that disappear after a short while but why not just do communications over text and social media?

It's great for communicating directly to just your friends or family.

Unlike FB or Instagram, it's not used to get attention or inflate egos with likes. You simply are sharing a pic or vid with a circle of your choice, and it is up to them to choose to view what you are doing, its not forced down there throat on some feed.

To be honest, I'm a bit confused over the snapchat "etiquette" or whatever you call it. Am I expected to respond to everything? Nothing? Just the stuff that's directly snapped at me? Only if I feel like it?

I have friends who are heavy users, but I rarely snap myself and I can't help but feel that I'm committing some kind of cyber faux pas with this thing.

I'm 23 and don't use it. I'm not even really sure what it exactly does only that you can post pics and they get removed?
