I think August's greater point is by making white characters black you reinforce the notion that their stories and characters are superior than our own or the ones we create; and lessen the need or desire for other institutions or people to provide funding for us to support our own. You can't deny there's some truth in that.

Fucking yes, that is why i hate race bending. It is admitting a minority character can't stand on their own

Yeah, it's one of the tenets thats been consistent in the series. Hypermasculine bullshit, he raped that woman, he's slapped around others. That stuff won't fly today, but they still maintain the hypermasculinity, though nowhere near as problematic.

Shit was cringeworthy.

I just don't find issue with changing Bond in that way. I think the important thing is for me, Bond is more of a loose concept than a proper character.

James Bond is trash entertainment, but it's also a lot of fun. I enjoy them. It's a case of the problematic enjoyment dichotomy: something being problematic doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, but enjoying something doesn't make it not problematic. Also, it's along the same conceptual line as "perfect is the enemy of good".

Wildlands looks real questionable, maybe it'll surprise me and be critical of the war on drugs, but right now real questionable.

Anyway Dark Tower might actually be good and that's so exciting. Hopefully I get get a proper Sun Dog miniseries one day. If anyone hasn't read The Sun Dog I recommend it highly, just grab a copy of Four past midnight if you can find one.

Stop the elder abuse (Elder self abuse?).

By the way, those unfamiliar with August Wilson, one of America's greatest playwrights, who is known for a series of ten plays known as The Pittsburgh Cycle, 2 of which won Pulitzer prizes and each play is set in a different decade, depicting the comic and tragic aspects of the African-American experience in the 20th century can catch up with PBS's excellent documentary August Wilson: The Ground on Which I Stand

Not to mention, Denzel last year signed a 10 picture deal with HBO to film all 10 of his "Pittsburgh Cycle" plays and found a way to make the first one they're filming, "Fences" an exception by signing a theatrical release with Paramount who's always wanted to adapt it to film but August Wilson refused to give his approval to a project that did not have a black director. Paramount at the time said that they would hire “the best director for the job” and approached several other directors, all of whom were white. Needless to say Denzel will be directing. If you haven't guessed by now, August Wilson is awesome. Denzel has also approached Spike Lee who has agreed to direct one of the plays for HBO.

For those unaware of the great play, "Fences"; Denzel and Viola Davis revived it several years ago for Broadway and they both won Tony's. Viola Davis will also be reprising her role in the movie. It being Ubisoft and especially their past management of Tom Clancy materials, you can expect them to handle any social and political commentary rather poorly. Their latest example being the plot of The Division, and especially those "Rioters".

Not gon' lie. My old ass forgot what a creampie was, quickly google image search believing it was some sort of whipped cream pie I forgot about; so I could reply with some witty retort or gif, but was immediately reminded it's true definition with a barrage of closeup creampie pictures. LOL
