Truth is most people have high expectations, nay, expectations at all, because they're being led to believe a game will function a certain way or provide a certain experience. When the game fails to function correctly or in the way the developers said it would, being let down is the natural feeling.
The best games in my experience are the ones I go in with little-to-no expectations because I put myself on black out, or didn't know anything about it them to begin with. All the PR, previews, videos, bullshots... it's best if people just stay away.
