The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Everything We Know

Probably
Master sword
Megaton hammer
Biggoron's sword

Fairy bow
and one for the axe and spear
I'm worried that since these would be in such close proximity that one may be in the game in place of the other. And since the megaton hammer is a dungeon item it will take precedence.

I'm willing to do another ridiculous, timed errand run for the Biggoron sword if it means having it in the game. I just hope Nintendo gives me the opportunity.

How would throwing those weapons work though? You can lose items permanently by throwing them into the pits in Shrines for example, so you probably just wouldn't be able to throw them. Unless somehow the Sheikah Slate "respawns" them if they are thrown away.

Good question.

Respawning/returning them to Link is probably the best answer.

The Master Sword will probably shoot beams so no throwing needed, but that probably is only possible with the restored version not the rusted one.

I still want to know if Link himself has an attack and defense base stat that then increases with weapons and armor being equipped.

Also, I'm wondering how you permanently increase your health. I saw the yellow hearts which were temporary increase, but how do you permanently increase? Heart pieces to find or some other means?

See I highly doubt there's an increasing attack/defense rating you get as there aren't any levels from where stats could increase.

I'm actually relieved that this game isn't an RPG with EXP/Levels because now I know it'll be equipment and skill based. And I also don't have to go around killing every enemy I see haha.

Maybe there is a "shop" where you buy them by using spirit orbs?

Someone posted in one of these threads, possibly this one, that Hearts and Stamina were increased by spending 4 Spirit Orbs, but I never saw in-game evidence or a source for that info. It makes sense though.

That's news to me! I'll add it to the OP if we can get a confirmed source.

If we assume with that we've being shown so far; which is that you get 1 spirit orb from each shrine you complete. Then this would mean that you could get
120 spirit orbs or 30 upgrades
however does this then mean that the heart or stamina upgrade per 4 spirit orbs is a choice for one way or the other?
17 heart upgrades, 12 stamina upgrades and 1 final set of 4 for the paraglider early game.
Those numbers don't make much sense to me, but I like the idea of getting heart pieces or contintainers for finishing shrines in groups of 4.

I tried to the math as well. My only guess is that there's more to it, it's just wrong as much of these kinds of things are or there are still Heart Pieces in the world and we can only increase whole hearts a certain number of times.

So say we can upgrade our hearts 10 times that would leave 7 hearts left until the max of 20 which depending on how many pieces there are could be 28 or 35 pieces in the world, which isn't bad but not a whole lot for a game this size. That would leave 20 upgrades for Stamina which at 5% or 10% increase could result in a 100% or 200% increase overall which isn't bad.

Pretty sure you don't use Spirit Orbs to get the Paraglider in the final game, that was just for the E3 demo.
Oh really, I'm a bit behind on that one then. Do you get the paraglider right after the tower now or are those first 4 shrines still mandatory?

This I don't know, I just remember hearing someone from Nintendo say that during Treehouse at E3 2016.

Sad to hear that pieces of heart are gone ...

Don't forget the
900 Korok Seeds
!

They have to be used for something,

I like your thinking. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see heart pieces or containers at all (I think something else will be received or be the result of the dungeons); I hope we do though. I really really can't see the only way to increase hearts and such being eating - that has to be a temporary thing (yellow hears and resistances that last for short periods of time) but there must be permanent upgrades that we just don't know about yet. Aonuma recently said that stamina starts off low but increases as you play the game. Taking that at face value that could be that the more you walk/run/climb the more your stamina increases - which I don't believe is how it works. I do think we'all get an item that increases our stamina permanently and another item that increases our hearts permanently (heart container?).

I wonder if you can update rune-related variables. More bombs per minute, more ice columns allowed to remain standing concurrently, etc.

Pretty sure those will be linear upgrades from certain Shrines, but maybe they are selective upgrades, we've definitely seen a Bomb+ which has a faster cooldown time in the Game Awards let's play footage.

What if they are used to create the green tunic?

From those?

After watching "Krull" the other night, I really hope that there's a quest for the green Hero's Tunic, the Hylian Shield or some other special item that takes you high up into the mountains; that you have to climb and quest higher and higher. Maybe the mountain that's covered with clouds could be the location and then you go through a really elaborate cave dungeon to acquire it. I also hope that there's a dungeon/shrine that involves being on the raft to get to located in a haunted, gloomy swamp.

When do you think we'll find out what the Breath of the Wild Amiibo do? I have all of them preordered but I feel I might cancel some...

It's strange that Nintendo revealed what the other Zelda Amiibos do but not what the new ones do. Hopefully it's more than just fluff like the other ones - I mean, dropping meat, fish and plants from the sky?!?

No left hand?!? This is absurd!

I wonder if this is important for story reasons - or if it's just an oversight?

I just hope that the classic outfit and hylian shield isn't so broken you HAVE to use it to do well in the end game. I wanna keep using what I want to. I hope it's fair with its stats.

You say oversight but it just seems to me like they stopped giving a fuck on such a tiny detail and decided to keep it following Skyward Sword. There's nothing saying EVERY Link has to be left handed.

True. Link is Link, so I could care less which hand he holds his sword with.

Using previous Zelda games, can anyone predict what the overall scale of the over world will be? Do you think it will match the scope of the Great Sea in Wind Waker, except with dry land?

energy beams or how Thor's hammer returns.

It's far bigger than the Great Sea and has more Content Density (and Content in general).

While we don't know the exact scale of the map yet, we do know that it is considerably larger than Skyrim's map - so there's at least that.

As far as content, I assume you're referring to sidequests, towns, NPC's, mini-games, things to acquire/collect and general things to do and see. I'm sure this game will not disappoint - Nintendo is being considerably secretive about everything on purpose so that we'll all be surprised around every turn - and I really appreciate them doing that.

It's about 60 square kilometers, or 20 square miles. Imagine walking for 4 miles, turning left, walking 5 more miles, turning left, walking 4 miles, turning left, and walking 5 miles back to where you started. The entire BotW map would be within that 18 mile long walking trail. It's kind of overwhelming when you think about it.

That's definitely huge, but nobody knows exactly how big the overworld map will be. All we have right now are estimations based on math and Link's height ;)

On a side note, I wonder if underwater exploration will return?

Would be neat if there was an underwater dungeon or area :D

Can't wait for march 3rd!

So will this be a mashup of all the previous Zelda games' more classic features? Wind Waker type traveling would add variety, all without stifling the players in excess.
