Looking forward to the day when Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a page on Nintendo of America's web site. Until then it's just a dream. Sigh.

Why make a great game, an average game and now what looks to be a bad game?

Everyone hates their character models, why continuing making terrible ones?

I never really thought Xenoblade looked all that great in the early previews either. Then it turned out to be one of if not my favorite game of all time.

This game will be fine. I wish the characters looked more like Xenoblade, but, it's the game I care about, I'll live with the look of the characters.

I must be one of the few actually digging the character designs. As I said, while I'd kill (KILL, I say!!!!) to have cel-shaded Kumihiko Tanaka characters running around a Xenoblade world, I don't mind these ones. Hell, the way the main character looks, he reminds me of something from one of fhe Grandia. Maybe it is how simple his armor/clothing design looks and how it harkens back to a time when that sorta thing was acceptable (unlike now where overdesigning seems to be the norm).

I like the character designs, they look like they came straight out of a PS1 era JRPG. I think I may like the original Xenoblade's style a bit better, but these are an improvement over X, and considering I expected everything except a new Xenoblade in the next few years I'm pretty pleased with this outcome. Can't wait to play this.

Also, Yasunori Mitsuda as lead composer for one of the best RPG franchises from this and the previous generation? Fuck yes.

I'm not as deluded as I make myself out to be
I have a Wii and old 3DS and have never played a xenoblade game. can someone tell me how to prepare for this game in a reasonably cheap/easy way?

The voice acting in xbc was actually decent ... so British.

Buy wii version of xbc. Play it asap since you want a break between lengthy games

If used copies are expensive just buy and resell. Price wont change too much. Digital version wiiu and new 3ds port already out

Is that the only game I need to play? There's another game as well? Is that non-essential?

Only one you need, yes. There is also Xenoblade X / Xenoblade Chronicles X, but that is more of a spin off I'd say in terms of likely story relevance (though, if it clicks with you, it's a very great game)

Lmfao you are quickly becoming my favorite gaffer. I've never this amount of obsession/dedication over something so trivial.

Trivial to you, but not to me. The British voice acting directed by SIDE is one of the reasons why I love Xenoblade as much as I do. The dub of a video game is just as important as the soundtrack and sound effects.

I'll buy anything this developer makes, but not a fan of the new artstyle and characters.

Also the environments look less detailed than xeno X on the Wii U

Yeah, British was a breath of fresh air and gave the game a unique flavour within JRPGs. It was so refreshing to not hear the same set of US voice actors, and the game is more memorable because of this. The Brit dub had a whole new kind of air and energy to it, not to mention a lot of charm.

"Mechon, if you think the Homs, the people of Bionis, are just waiting here for you to pick us off - you are sorely mistaken!"

British theatre actors are just able to deliver their lines with the necessary gravitas and cadence to make any line memorable. You can just feel the impact of every word.

Wholeheartedly agree. Everyone I know who played with Japanese voices thought the game was good but not amazing. Everyone who played with English voices thought it was amazing. The acting was top notch and really sold the characters. I think the fact that the game starts with mumkhar puts people off tho lol. Easily the worst in the game. (But still works I think)

I thought the main issue that skypunch had with X was the story and music, seeing the trailer i thought "wow skypunch will be really happy", but now there's this non stop discussion about the dubbing and how british actors are so much better than american ones. It's so strange to me.

I think the main character looks really fine other than his trousers but the female blonde character is straight out of a Tales game.

Not true. Xenoblade Chronicles X is a Xenoblade game through and through--calling it a "spin off" by story-relevance is a silly notion. It retains the same core elements from the original, namely the exploration and general combat system.

This solitary tree on a hill is going to be very important, methinks.

I wish we knew more about this game that's coming out this year.*

*it's not.

Just love seeing my two most anticipated Switch software titles next to each other like that. How much of Breath of the Wild did they help out with?

Awesome.

About their hand in BotW, they likely helped building the open world.

Character models look fine here, they're a huge step ahead compared to the other two games, not sure why people are complaining (oh well...).

Main character trousers are irrelevant, you will likely be able to change his outfit like in previous entries.

And I really hope that that they bring fall damage back (the shoes indicate otherwise). It makes games so much more realistic and serious. Xenoblade X felt like a mountain jumping game and more like playing super Mario than like playing a JRPG. Even the new Zelda does it right.

Well...spoiler alert..have you played it up to that chapter at least?

Sorry if this has been discussed a lot already, but I just got through seeing the whole story of Xenoblade 1, and now I'm wondering: How much (if at all) are we expecting this to be a direct sequel to Xenoblade 1? And how much do you want it to be?

The story of Xenoblade 1
ends conclusively but leaves some hooks for a sequel, with various characters talking about venturing beyond the Bionis and Mechonis. However these are pretty vague hooks.

I'm expecting this game to take place in the same universe
(the universe Zanza created)
, but the real question on my mind is if we'll see any returning characters. And who exactly would that be?
Not many important characters survive outside of the main party, so I guess them? Maybe Alvis?
My dream scenario is something like Golden Sun
where your old party joins you eventually, but I'm not expecting that at all
. Honestly, I'm expecting essentially no returning characters, though it's not what I hope for.
