The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild - Everything We Know

Videos have shown bomb fishing and catching fishes with the bare hands. I'd be surprised if you can't buy or construct a fishing rod as well.

It's kind of a tradition in modern Zelda games; so I hope that there will be a fishing rod in BotW!

In addition, you can probably use it as a weapon and to distract enemies - like you could in Twilight Princess.

I always called him Link anyway, when you have such a well-known character with a well-defined name, calling him anything else feels weird. I'm not playing as the blank-slate nobody you start out as in most RPGs.

I can see why people would be upset though, as naming your Link is probably a tradition for most.

When I was very little playing the original The Legend Of Zelda, I used my real name - but shortly after that I always named him Link, because that was the name Nintendo wanted him to be called.

I didn't realize this at first but the final strike of each weapon class' basic attack will each knockback the enemy in a particular direction. Backwards for the spear, left for 2 handed weapons and right for one handed weapons. In addition AoE attacks tend to bounce enemies into the air so there's a subtle layer of depth with how the physics are applied to combat if you want to knock an enemy into a particular direction.

Good observation!

Kinda of a odd question, but I love stats and with no Activity Log confirmed on Switch I have to ask:

Have we seen anything about there being an ingame timer that shows how long you've played so far? I haven't seen all the footage since I want to go in as fresh as possible so if theres some footage that shows this let me know! Would also be cool if theres a death counter since this game seems quite hard.

Interesting question.

Personally, I haven't seen or heard anything regarding those things - however, maybe it shows your playtime on the save/load screen?

I don't know if this has been talked about but in this survey by nintendo, I'm being asked how I would play the new Zelda and there are several options that suggest local multiplayer. Do we know about any multiplayer mode in BOTW?
But maybe it's also just a generic question which has the same possible answers for every game, even if it has no lcoal multiplayer...

Just wanted to say that what ultimately sold me on this game and pushed me to preorder a Switch with a copy, even after that amazing trailer and all these wonderful impressions, is this snippet of a gameplay demo, with the view of nature and the music playing in the background (sounds like Zelda's lullaby).... it just all feels so serene and majestic, almost hypnotic.

I know this game will get complaints about the "empty world", but I wish people would consider in their evaluation of the game just how artful journeying throughout the world can be. While I anticipate there being a lot of overworld content, shrines and villages and whatnot, sometimes the gaps in between destinations can be just as mesmerizing, and I'm hoping the music will complement hat perfectly.

Those three videos are beautiful, it really feels llike they've tweaked the world while playing with it. It also adds that for the first time I see somenone playing the game like I would.

I'm extremely curious about the music score in this game, can't wait to see how the final ost ends up being.

Nah, I have seen the load screen atleast and it doesn't show playtime. Hopefully it does show playtime somewhere. Or rather please just let there be an Activity Log on the system day one. I hate not knowing if my beautiful AL is there or not.

This.

Shadow of the Colossus was a large, completely empty world, aside from a handful of animals and the Colossi.

No towns or cities, no NPC's to interact with, no day/night cycle, no real-time weather and no real need to explore, other than finding your quarry.

Yet, I love that game and exploring the world was rewarding and fun for me.

I think The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild will be a perfect blend of both content and personal moments.

Not sure if this was brought up... but is Boss rush mode dead in BotW? I've gotta feeling it is... kinda liked that feature in past Zeldas.

When do we expect spoilers? I want to actually avoid them lol. Well only one I want to know is if we get the green hat and tunic.

According to some individuals, there are already spoilers out there.

I would say it's a given that at some point in the game we will get the green Hero's Tunic :)

I'm playing a 3 Heart Run of OoT right now, a 3 Heart Run of BoTW might be impossible due to the damage we've seen some enemies do. Iron Knuckles doing 4 hearts in OoT is like running up against a stone wall.

I liked having to knock the armor off of the Iron Knuckles in OoT and WW.

I hope that returns in BotW.

It has kinda become a staple now in 3d Zeldas right? I imagine without the directional combat that motion controls provided, it will be an even bigger motivation to keep that mechanic in and maybe even expand upon it. Can you imagine running up against a platemail clad Dark Nut for the first time and realizing you can smash his armor to bits with your giant warhammer or stone 2 hander sword?

Either it's a generic answer, or they think that having other people stand around and watch you play counts as multiplayer. There is no multiplayer in BotW as far as we know.
