Kimi no Na wa (Your Name) Collector's Edition back in stock at Amazon.jp

Yeah it's not even up on Funimation's store yet either. Supposedly they will be tweeting more details regarding 4K and such but nothing from them yet.

Edit: Also haha, that was fast.

Has an 60-page artbook and 2 disc soundtrack as posted earlier in the thread.

I would not be shocked at all if the LE price is due to them not wanting to eat the cost of the soundtrack licensing.

You can get the 2 disc soundtrack (plus a free MP3 version instantly!) on Amazon right now for under $10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1UYV7O/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I can't imagine a 60 pg artbook being worth the massive price jump from the normal Bluray

The Japanese release doesn't have the English soundtrack, right?

I would just pick that one up, but my wife would like to watch it and she despises subtitles.

It doesn't. The big 5 disc collector's edition has 3 discs of extras, but no English soundtrack.

Due to the success of the movie, I feel like they're crazy enough to make the regular edition 40-60 dollars, because they know people will buy it.

All the previous listings I saw for the Japanese versions on amazon US were like 60-80 and up, even for regular editions.

For that $50 difference, I will expect a 4K disc.

If it's not there, then forget it, I'll just buy the regular edition and digital soundtrack. I may even consider importing the ultimate edition from Japan. My wife and I don't care about the dub.

The good news about Funimation setting the pre-order price at ~$20 less on their website means that Amazon is going to follow suit before long.

If you pre-order with Funimation, you usually get it sometime the week before it comes out.

That's pretty common with niche labels. If we're being honest about it, I think that the possibility of having Amazon shipping out an LE would be enough to scare people to Funi's website as it is.

$65 for:
the movie ($25)
OST ($10)
artbook + special box ($30)

Eh... I'll probably just try to wait it out. If it sells out, no big loss.

Saw the movie, didn't like it, visually stunning but I couldn't get into it, too much incoherence, confusing timeline plot , okish characters, weak humor, feels to long sometimes, I like the idea but not the execution.

Do the products most recently linked have the Japanese version with subs, or is it just dubs?

I'm one for English where possible. But I saw your name in theaters subbed. And despite it being such a small part of the movie, the "watashi" scene was just enough to tell me that subs was the right way to go (for me, anyways).

I threw a pre-order in, since no charge. But if it's English only, I think I'll probably wait until I can afford the set that released this month (likely at a scalpers price, lol).

Man, I wish that the copied the JP bluray and used the milky white plastic for the bluray case. They already did this with Shin Godzilla and its black plastic case. This doesn't seem likely though, because the slip cover has blue bars.

Not a deal breaker.

Japanese version has english subs and an option to use the English songs with english subs. The extra content is not subbed. There is a 4k release available.

Funimation version has both subs and dubs. It has a slight amount of special content subbed. There is also not a 4k option at this time.

If you want to avoid scalper prices order the set at Amazon.co.jp. Right now you are seeing scalper prices because the set has been #1 in Japan for 3 weeks and is hard to find. More stock will eventually show up there and prices will normalize.

Funimation releases most of their titles with both language options and this is no exception.

Alright, thanks!
Steins;Gate has subs and dubs (think it's Funimation?), but I figured it'd be worth asking for total assurance.

Ah, thanks for all the info, Veitsev. I'll go with the November release, as I don't have a 4K TV or player. I really just wanted to make sure I was getting the Japanese along with English dubs.

Does Funimation ship their movies in boxes? I don't want to take a chance with Amazon since 90% of what they send me comes in a bubble mailer.

Generally yes. If you're really concerned with safety, nobody kills more trees to protect your order than Rightstuf. Their packaging is absurd. Cardboard tanks with every item wrapped in rolls of paper.

Thanks for telling me that. I'll preorder it through them. I'm so, so tired of getting game and movie boxes/cases with dents, crushed corners, torn plastic, etc.

Hmmm... That is odd considering most of their movies lately have been coming with digital copies.

Not only that, but at least for redeeming on Vudu, it gives you both the subbed and dubbed versions of the film. Wonder if that's just something they forgot for now and will update in the near future, or there's a licensing restriction for some strange reason.
