Just going based off of Chaos;Head, if the issue you have is fanservice (my issues with S;G were mainly with that and
"but he's a guy!!!"
), there will be some of that and it will probably be based on your choices.

But I feel like the large jump in quality from C;H to S;G, and then the vague improvement to S;G 0, means that Child will probably be at least slightly better about that stuff (since it came out before 0)?

Yeah, the fanservice and how some characters were treated was really offputting. Most endings in S;G were bad too because you could tell how shoehorned some stuff felt.

I’m already expecting some fanservice, just hoping for better endings and that the childhood friend isn’t Mayuri 2.

I actually have no real understanding of how Child's choices/endings work, now that I think about it. I played the fan translated version of the original C;H, which is to say it didn't have the character-focused endings of Noah that seem to be the norm for the series now, and I'm not sure how they changed it to let you get into those routes. So I assume the choices will be similar to C;H's, but have no idea what that might mean for determining endings.

I guess I should glance at a flowchart at some point to make sure I don't stumble into a true-ish end early or something, but then again I probably won't play it till next month anyway, so I'm sure there'll be a post in the OT with non-spoilery tips by then.

No story spoilers, but route structure:
You're forced into a common ending in the first playthrough, then once you finish all the character endings you can select the true ending from the title screen.

It's the same as Chaos;Head Noah's route structure, actually.

Oh, that seems like it'll work out nicely. Good to know (with all the VNs I've played lately I don't really consider route structure or chapter count and such a spoiler at this point unless it's really shocking or something); thank you!

I had thought Noah's was common ending -> character routes but wasn't sure if I was right, particularly since I wasn't sure how it handled getting them and what it did to AA/B/whatever beyond that they were apparently renamed to have actual names?

I've not tried 3 myself, but I have 2 Vita's working perfectly fine with the same account.

I have 2 x Vita and 1 x PSTV on the same account at present, if that helps?

I think Vita and Playstation TV count as 2 different systems?

I think you can have 2 PSV and 2 PSTV using the same account but don't take my words for granted.

They both count as Vita, you can have 3 Vita-type systems total.

Used to just be 2 Vitas allowed before they released the PSTV.

the US/EU pages mention 2 devices for games across PSP,PSV,PSVTV. JP one says 3 for games. I guess ill try doing it and see what happens lol. Worst case ill use the EU account on the 3rd active vita.

sony doesn't need to do anything. they chose to release an unfinished version of their original plans for move and vr ahead of schedule if that is the case. they chose to react instead of wait longer. it's their fault for poor planning, lack of vision, bad game design or overall strategy. that's my point. they didn't have to make a handheld, but they did. and when they did, they didn't respect the division enough to give it the support it actually needed. vr is still something relatively new, but judging on what's happened in the past, i feel like we know the end of the story already.

Nobody predicted the Wii, let alone the Wii's success [yet Sony was already on top of R&D years earlier]. Nobody predicted some nobody tech geek would kickstart VR a few years early [yet Sony was already on top of R&D years earlier].

I'm deleting the rest of what I just wrote because it's pretty clear we're at an impasse. What you call 'poor planning', I call quickly reacting to shifting markets. Strategy is easy with 20/20 hindsight, isn't it? Especially when it's not your money on the line.

looking on amazon.co.uk to see if the vita version popped back on the site
it hasn't
and i noticed the date jumped to the 26 of january now

I finished a review of Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars for PSP (played on Vita). It's very enjoyable still and a steal for the price you can get it at:

What game?

Crazy Taxi's PSP port was ace. Not as good as my personal favourite version (Dreamcast) but still an awesome port and it was portable. I actually put quite a bit of time into the GBA version back in the day... it really wasn't good!

Also thankfully (at least on the PSP hardware) I believe you could do a custom soundtrack, so you could put Bad Religion back in, just wouldn't feel like a CT game without them and The Offspring.

Crazy Taxi is one of my favorite games, so much so that I'm actively looking to buy an arcade cabinet of it, and I never knew that that version existed. Thanks.

It's a shame the port of Crazy Taxi 2 isn't quite as good, but yeah, having a handheld version that's so competent is really really awesome. Haven't fiddled with the custom soundtrack myself actually - I quite liked the new songs!

You're welcome! I quite like raising awareness of less commonly-known releases like this. And if you're a big Crazy Taxi fan, it's definitely worth checking out.

Last review of the week finished (I'm on fire this month!) - Jak 3 for Vita:

https://kresnik258gaming.wordpress.com/2017/10/12/vita-jak-3-review/

It's the least technically stable of all the Jak ports on Vita. 1 was constantly low but you got used to it after a while; 2 was pretty good with drops on certain missions. 3 is always up and down and was the first time I was bothered by it.

Aside from that, the game is just weaker than the other two in general. But it's still very enjoyable and worth checking out. Also on sale in Europe atm!

Hmm I felt that 2 was horrible in term of performance on Vita. From what I can remember 3 was slightly better (still shit though)

That was the rhetoric I read online before I played them but my experience couldn't have been more different. 3 is hands down the worst of the bunch by a long, long way. I actually didn't have many issues with 2 aside from a few specific missions (that one where you're shooting the metal head eggs near the end being one of them), and 2 always got better whenever you got outside of Haven City (i.e. in Mountain Temple or Haven Forest).

Where I can list hundreds of occasions that caused 3's framerate to tank. Firing the level 3 upgrade to the red gun. Firing the level 1 purple gun. Firing the level 3 purple gun. Firing too many of the ricocheting yellow bullets at once (this caused my game to crash altogether more than once). Killing multiple enemies at once. Going into that infested mine in the wasteland. Using the turret in Spargus City. etc. etc.

It's honestly miles worse. I think it's pretty clear that Mass Media ran out of time with it whereas they at least had a little bit of time on 1 & 2 to work on getting things more stable (framerates are still low, but at least they don't drop constantly).

I would say that 2 is fine on Vita - as long as you know what you're getting into, it's playable. There were points in 3 where I'd say even with my high tolerance for framerates, it became a bit unplayable.

- What happened to 999 Vita for EU? Any new info?
- Any place to buy Danganronpa v3 for a reasonable price? It's surprisingly hard to find on the usual UK shops.
- Does the voice pack improve the voices a lot? Does it affect the music too? I just played the demo and it was pretty awful.

there's radio silence
as usual from aksys
on the EU release of Nonary Games but i saw someone mention somewhere that RSG still have the rights to VLR so they can't really do anything and those expire at the end of next month so we may hear about it then or it'll slowly disolve into thin air like the EU LE for Tokyo Xanadu

i'd say the audio quality is close to psp level and there were scenes that would randomly play HQ audio so you could tell the difference, i think the game is probably getting another reprint but no word on it yet

I was wrong, I did have one more review in me this week. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz for Vita:

https://kresnik258gaming.wordpress.com/2017/10/15/vita-super-monkey-ball-banana-splitz-review/

It's on sale on US PSN atm and very much worth it for the price it's going for.

It's oos completely on UK retailers. Base.come have said they're getting more stock but haven't given any timeframe for that.

Thanks. PSP level is better than the demo's so that's fine. It's on Amazon but it's full price so I guess I'll wait.

I've just read somewhere that the Arc System Works Asian-English release of Ys Origin has the 2GB patch on the cart and the LRG release doesn't. Does anyone know if this is true?

So uhm:

Assault Android Cactus rated for Vita on PEGI.

Developers said in August that development was stalled:

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2017/08/14/assault-android-cactus-development-ps-vita-stalled/

I don't know what's going on.
Anything come of this? Kinda been looking forward to this.

Got my LRG copy a while back and i had prompt to download a 1.4 GB patch for it.

Exciting day for me, as I've now broken one-hundred physical games in my collection (now at 101). The games that did it + my current library with two conveniently near-empty shelves just waiting to be filled. *heh*

i look at the UK Vita charts pretty much every week and notice that if a game has been on clearance or sale somewhere it usually pops up
maybe vita software sales are that miniscule
anyways i noticed odin sphere popped up and looked around seeing that it was on clearance at GAME and i've tried looking everywhere else and it also seems to be out of stock new so i guess it actually fell out of print, i've asked NISA EU if they plan to do any small reprints in the future but they said not at the minute

Nicely done! Now buy a load more ;) I can't even remember how many Vita games I own anymore. I think it was just about 360 when I last counted... probably will end up crossing over to 400 end of this year/next year depending if I end up doing any more 3am Japanese import purchases!

I've got Undertale just waiting to be started, but I'm still playing Tokyo Xanadu. Finally reached the post game chapter on Nightmare difficulty, just gotta beat one loooooooooong boss fight before I'm done, then I'll knock the difficulty down to grab the last S rank I'm short and I'll be done with the game finally (at least until I get the PS4 port at some point).
