Rob Pattinson, Nicholas Hoult Atop Short List For ‘The Batman’

EDIT: The decision for Batman is reportedly not finalised. We have another contender with Nicholas Hault appearing on the scene.

While a report declared that Twilight Saga star Rob Pattinson had been set for The Batman, Deadline hears that the filmmaker and Warner Bros haven’t gotten to that place yet. Pattinson is on a short list but so is Nicholas Hoult

Robert Pattinson has reportedly been cast as Bruce Wayne/The Batman in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” film at Warner Bros. Pictures.

32-year-old Pattinson was cast even as Reeves is still polishing a final version of the script, and is the youngest actor to date to take on the role. He’s currently readying to shoot “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan’s new event movie opening July 2020.

Reeves and Dylan Clark will produce. Pre-production is expected to start this summer ahead of filming either late this year or early next year for a June 25th 2021 release.

He's an incredibly under-rated actor who is unfortunately tied to a role in a very bad movie series, which he readily admits are bad. Check out "Good Time" or his interview with Howard Stern to really get an idea what you're getting with him as Batman.

Give him a chance, so many people wrote off Heath Ledger as The Joker - look what happened - that thread is legendary here, don't be a part of history by writing off this pick so quickly.

I've heard he's good in recent movies he's done (haven't watched them) and some people were hoping he'd be chosen.

Fair enough

Great to have the confirmation. Interesting times ahead.

Wow I think he's actually going to pull a ledger with this one. I've never seen twilight but he's in a lot of super high quality movies. As mentioned above, he is excellent in rover

I wonder how much he's gonna bulk up. I could see his batman shredded but on the leaner side. Or maybe it starts that way and he gets bulkier throughout sequels. Or maybe they're gonna tell him to yolk up out of his mind and we get a straight monster right off the *bat*. HUEEEEEEEEE

Couple thoughts:

I disagree that he’s “incredibly underrated.”

He is what he is. He’s good. He’s not bad, he’s not great. He’s not Ledger.

Good Time is a solid movie and he’s great in it. He’s better than the Twilight stigma attached to him but he’s not some generational talent.

I think it’s a fine choice, he’ll be a fine young Bruce/Batman. I don’t think he’s second coming, though

I really agree with this. He's interesting, he has that vampire look and that mysterious loner vibe. But yeah, you don't lock your eyes on him like you would with an actor like Ledger or DeNiro or Brolin.

Hopefully better. Bale was carried by other performers such as Ledger. His Batman mumbling voice was god awful.
For TDK yeah he felt carried. But for the first half of Begins dude was amazing. I believed him as a man who is on a strange journey. Thrown in with some legit ninja forearm blades and a sword fight practice with Ras Al Ghul. Fuck. To this day that's the best Batman anything to exist.

Is he the youngest? I thought Christian Bale was born in 1974 which would have made him younger when cast.

Well, I only watched 1 twilight movie, and watched only a few harry potter early movies (haven't watched later few) - so I am actually okay with it.
To be honest, he could've been a better joker than the batman the way he looks though.

Apparently Nicholas Hoult is also in the running, nothing is finalized yet.

All I ask is that they at least give us a bat suit close to the hulking, fucking beastly one we got in BvS. That was the first time we've gotten a Batman on-screen that legitimately looked like he could make you shit your pants just by looking at you.

Oh snap, need a title update.
This could be a better battle of the dead than Game of Thrones.
