New Study Claims PlayStation Fans Are More Brand Loyal Than Other Gamers.

According to a new study, PlayStation has the most brand loyal fans, followed by Xbox, Nintendo, and PC in that order. The study comes way of Best SEO Companies, who found that 40.7 percent of PlayStation gamers are loyal to the brand, which is nine percent higher than Xbox's 31 percent and 10 percent higher than Nintendo's 30.4 percent. Behind the three consoles is "gaming pc brand" with 14.7 percent, "gaming laptop brand" with 8.6 percent, HTC Vive with 3.6 percent, and Oculus Rift with 3.3 percent.

Meanwhile, the study notes that 33 percent of people who own a gaming system plan on buying the PS5, while only 25 percent are expecting to cop an Xbox Series X. Less than these two are eight percent of gamers who apparently plan on buying both.

Now, the survey isn't incredibly extensive -- it only features 1,008 participants -- but it paints a little bit of an unsurprising picture. PlayStation is the biggest brand in gaming, and it's not very surprising to see it have the most brand loyalty. What is a bit surprising is to see Xbox have more than Nintendo, who has been around longer than both PlayStation and Xbox.

As for how the study was conducted, all respondents were asked which brands they consider themselves the most loyal to and purchase from most often in each item category. Interestingly, 65 percent of people said they trust brands more when they are the top of a Google result. This was especially the case with Generation Z (77 percent).

"To gather the data used above, a survey was run using Amazon’s Mechanical Turk service," reads the methodolgy section of the survey. "A total of 1,003 respondents were questioned, with 225 baby boomers (7 percent margin of error), 300 from Generation X (6 percent margin of error), 328 millennials (5 percent margin of error), and 150 from Generation Z (8 percent margin of error)."

I'm sorry but the answer here is very clearly Nintendo fans. They're able to overlook the most faults to enjoy a console experience and tend to have the oldest hardcore fans. Yes there's kids too but it's often guys that have been there from the beginning.

Nintendo fans is the only reason the WiiU sold past 1 million units even.

I've been with Playstation since original PSX but recently branched out with Switch. I'm a bit tired of PS at the moment but I'm balls deep into their ecosystem so I'm sticking with them. I also enjoy their exclusives and japanese support. But Switch is a much better console overall.

You realize that Nintendo fans are probably the most likely to also own another system as well, right?

Half of them are probably clueless muppets who buy new PS hardware for the latest version of Fifa and COD.

I know so many morons who do just that whilst never experiencing Uncharted, GOW, etc.
This is so true.
The majority of people I know that own a ps4 only play Fifa, Pes and racing games.
It's so sad.

Why call them morons? That's ridiculous, that's what they like to play and that's what they buy.

In any case, it's quite normal that loyalty to Nintendo is actually quite low, since it relates to how their marketshare shifts a lot depending on the generation. They have their guaranteed ultra hardcore fans that will buy literally anything with their name on it, even shit like the Wii U, and it's a coin toss whether they'll attract the rest of their potential customers.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
It could be that case of this gen Playstation is being much more popular and more people own that system over X1, it was similar in last gen with 360, most people play COD on that system over PS3 because 360 was much more popular.

Well, if that was the case, then Xbox One would have sold much more than PS4.

PS players do tend to be more loyal. Microsoft screwed over their players with Xbox One, and it costed them heavily. After Playstation won this generation they didn't really care about their player base, while Xbox one turned around with bc, cross play etc.

Im surprised though that Nintendo isn't second, but Xbox, exactly because of the killing Xbox One reveal.

I don't have any problem with Sony when I say this, but 'brand loyalty' is nonsense in any capacity. Corporations exist to make profit for their stakeholders, nothing more nothing less. Vote with your wallet for whatever serves you best, don't think they're your friends.

I would have to agree, I have all the current generation consoles so don't care but I see some bizarre one sided comments from Sony console enthusiasts, the absolute best thing a person can do is be open minded and not be a brand loyalist as yoda from the rebels would say the negativity will lead to the dark side and nobody wants that..... Do we?

Playstation has always been much more popular.

I have all three systems(including PSVR) I don’t even know who you are but okay lol. Appreciate the interest you’ve taken in following me around I guess?

Edit: Sony are my least favourite of the three for what it’s worth ❤️

I'd say Nintendo fans are the most loyal. Nintendo has come out with some pretty terrible half baked products, underpowered, overpriced yet there are legions of people buy it regardless.
Not saying that Nintendo doesn't often turn things around and make it a compelling device but at the start for myself I just don't see the draw yet people will line up for it

I’m well aware of my loyalty. If I had to, I’d sell most of my other stuff for a PS console. That’s just my reaction. I’ve jumped up and down after PS5 info came out. I can definitely feel loyalty. I’d say it isn’t pretty all the time and it can get ugly after a while. I don’t always choose sides and run with it.

I feel like the PS brand is distinguishable in every gen. Someone voting may have had a better experience with PS1 or PS2. Some users from the PS3 gen may feel different or can relate to the brand in a completely different way. PS4 users are a whole new group of past and present. I feel like Sony has had a lot of great milestones. There’s a lot there that gets overlooked or goes unnoticed.

I’m not entire sure if this study or any study is accurate for consumers, who always break a pattern. A New Zelda or New Halo always causes those numbers to rise.

I've owned hardware from loads of manufacturers over the years and have no brand loyalty whatsoever. Even though I have a pro, Sony could go broke tomorrow and I'd give zero fucks since their first party games tend to put me to sleep, mostly.

So yeah, company shmumpany.

I will however say that I do feel a bit dirty when I buy anything with Microsoft on the box.

I'm surprised it's not Nintendo to be honest.
Even a lot of Sony fanboys would have trouble defending $60 games with indie tier production values, paid multiplayer that's below the standard set by microsoft in 2005, straight ports of last gen games for $10 more than the original launch price, etc

Either way, I never really sure what they mean by brand loyalty. Like sure I might buy a Ps5 because I like their games and I've enjoyed every home console they've released so far but I don't think that makes me a "loyal" consumer. If the Ps5 is shit, or overpriced or has no exclusives I care for, or if they do indeed start releasing most of their stuff on PC then I won't be getting one

I’m surprised by the results. I would’ve expected Nintendo but I imagine their fans need their parent’s permission before using the internet.

We're only brand loyal because they keep putting out great games. If that ever dries up our loyalty will end quickly. Same is true with Nintendo.

Imagine a company that has supplied quality customer service for 25 years having customer loyalty.
Shocking.

By customer service, I assume you mean the quality of the products. Because Sony's actual customer service (i.e trying to get a refund, help with a technical issue, etc) is far less.
