Sunrise has released a second trailer for the upcoming movie, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathway. As with the first trailer, this new clip begins with footage from the 1989 movie Char’s Counterattack before showing new footage.

Set in UC 0105, 15 years after the events of Char’s Counterattack, Mobile Suite Gundam: Hathway tells the story of Hathaway Noa, now a grown man leading a terrorist organization called Mafty. Haunted by his actions during Char’s Rebellion, Hathaway fights against the Earth Federation which now has become an authoritarian regime that is forcibly deporting civilians into space.

Footage of the trailer show footage of many of the characters discussing Mafty and the existence of Newtypes alongside tense action sequences. The film promises to be quite tense.

Released alongside the new trailer was a poster for the film revealing the upcoming release date. The poster shows Hathaway Noa, with Amuro and Char standing behind him. The asteroid Axis is at the center of the poster.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathway was announced as a trilogy. The first film of the trilogy is set to be released on July 23rd, 2020. No word on if screenings will be held in the United States.

Been waiting for this for a long time. What the UC needs and not more trash like Unicorn 2. I'm so fucking ready.

I wonder if there is enough story to fit three movies.... but in any case it will probably be solid. The artwork is stunning. Plus Sawano, the best part of Unicorn, is involved. You're right though. This is a long time coming.

Why can't they make a new Gundam TV series like this?
Fucking Gundam Age, Reconguista, IBO, just give me a good Gundam series again.
Everything good that's come out since Turn A has been UC OVAs.

I haven’t seen a Gundam series since Gundam Seed which had me in tears at the end of it. What’s some good ones fam? Looking for stuff with humor and long running. I don’t mind a good short series either. I loved Full Metal Panic. It doesn’t have to have humor but it’s preferred.

You pretty much want Double Zeta. lol.

So its a full length movie? Awesome, the art style looks great. Im more of a gunpla builder than I do watch the shows. I donno, I never really got hooked on to any of them, found them too cheesy and kid like. This at least looks like it has proper human drama and real life emotions and not just some wimpy kid ignoring getting hit on by a girl and acting all weird about it.

It's gonna be a movie trilogy apparently.

I tried watching gundam years ago and eh "just get in the robot kid and kill people" wasn't fun. Has it ever tried being something else that isn't "war bad"?

Not really... Maybe G Gundam, but for the most part that is it's bread and butter. Gundam Build Fighters is a tournament fighter about people building Gundam models and fighting with them. That's pretty good.

Seconding G Gundam, especially if you like 90s shounen like dbz, yyh, kenshin, outlaw star.

If you're not in the mood for a battle shounen, avoid.
