Beavis and Butthead was Pretty Wild

So I was pretty small when it was actually on air and never watched the show in its prime. I vaguely remember my older sister getting in trouble for watching it.

But I've been watching episodes lately off a friends hard drive onboard(currently deployed in the middle of the ocean-no access to anything else), and I was actually kinda shocked at the content of a cartoon from the early 90s. In the episodes I've watched they have gotten high from huffing paint thinner, gotten high from huffing stove gas, attacked wild life with a baseball bat, shot a plane out the sky, vandalized a guy's house, stolen things, blew the side out of someone else's house, hung a kid from a coat rack by his underwear and then used a mixer to mix random shit in the back of said underwear while he was still in them. It's just such random mayhem without any semblance of consequence or reason.

These episode are all clearly rips straight from TV, they include all the music videos, commercial breaks, the voice overs during credits for what was up next, so it's such a weird little time capsule of 1992 and 1993 so far,

It's remarkable for its time, as well as now.

It holds up really well, As someone who was practically a baby when the show was on the air, it routinely has me dying. So many little details, like Butthead tagging "X-FORCE RULES" on Hank Hill(?)'s house and the way they just shit on some of the videos is so good. And when something good comes on, like you really feel the excitement, like there was a White Zombie video for Black Sunshine they lost their minds over, it made me immediately wanna listen to La Sexorcisto, lol.

I was watching marathons of this show back when I was like 13. And it totally made me start fires and cause mayhem....oh wait nvm that's the sheltered twitter kid generation who is doing that right now.

So what show can we blame for that?

Yeah the early episodes especially had the most extreme stuff but most of those have never seen any kind of official release due to Mike Judge. I remember they initially banned episodes like Stewart's House but later re-aired them with on-screen warnings when they're huffing the stove gas and such. The early stuff is really hit and miss but in retrospect even the lesser ones are entertaining just for the "Can't show this anymore" factor.

Wayne's World 2 releases on December 10! Also apparently, you could tacos for 59c in 1993 at Taco Bell, lol.

They had a reboot 10 years ago for one season. Shame it didn't last. It was some of their best work.
I don't remember even hearing about that. But like, this kind of humor doesn't seem like it would play well today. I mean, these kids live their lives pretty much just trying to get fucked up, destroy shit and try to get laid.

I don't think it was just that.

It was pure cringe having to watch them watching and commenting Jersey Shore.

The whole piece of story + them commenting on music videos that was cool. When they switch the the regular (and shitty) MTV programming of 09 it just didn't work.

They should bring them back and make them comment on music videos again.

Also, I watched the whole thing during its prime since the first Liquid Television skits (where the show began) til the end of the official show in 1997 and man, what a time to be alive.

There's a server on Kodi that has all of the episodes uncut and with the music videos included.

It was a late night (at least in Europe) animated show for adults, it's not aimed at the Spongbob demographic.

It's also one of the best observed shows depicting stupid teenage boy stuff, Mike Judge delved deep into his teenage past to capture all that.

Censorship was not a strong in the 90's. To a lesser extent cartoons like Two Stupid Dogs, Cow and Chicken, Ren and Stimpy and a few others got away with quite a bit (those three were also being broadcast toward a younger audience).

Yeah they were pretty wild.

Now give me TP bungholio!!?!
Bro, what was the name of that one episode where they go into the church I think it was, and they ask the priest a question about the ark, and he replied "NOAH!!!!" in an extremely exaggerated and powerful voice lmao. That scene was so funny

Anybody ever play the game for Sega Genesis? Was kind of fun to mess around with. I don't even remember what the point was it's been so long

I played both versions and didn’t remember them too well until I watched AVGN’s video

I remember they had a PC game that I only played in a store once. I wonder if it was any better than the console games

James Rolfe is a dumb shit. The console game isn't even bad he just doesn't know what he's doing. Also there's 2 pc games.

I never seen the originals but music videos aren't really a thing anymore, certainly not the phenomenon they were when MTV started, it would never have worked. They did have at least a few music videos in the new episodes but there wouldn't be enough to sustain an entire season. Wasn't B&B like an extra to fill MTV airtime?

The remake was no doubt sacrilege for fans but I enjoyed it, they ripped the targets apart. There was also plenty of skits that were completely original and not based around Jersey Shore etc.
