I’m still convinced that the reason you can’t drive in infamous is because they don’t know how to design the game for that.
??? its pointless to have driving in a game that has great traversal, Its same with games like Gravity Rush.

Same. The combat is the only thing about this game that has we 2nd guessing it. Based on what we've seen, I think some people are gonna have some issues with it.
This video actually kind of made me excited for combat system but thats just me.

Royal is an upgraded version of P5, it adds a lot of gameplay and story content. I think there are also a lot of visual upgrades, but I've never looked for a comparison between the two.

Think of it as something like Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath, an expansion of sorts that also changes the base game

Okay, cool. I thought it was a re-release of the original release from 2018 so I was wondering since it was reviewed separately from the original game. Thanks.

Atlus rarely does simple re-release, they will always add new contents in to it. This was even true with Nocturne, we just never got the original release in west.

Seems crazy to me they didn’t hold this for a PS5 launch title, seems like it would have been a epic title to have day one especially if they they could of had it running native 4K and 60fps.

Probably will pass on it and pick it up on PS5 when the inevitable port comes.
PS is known to go out on a bang and start slow at the very beginning of the gen

days gone and the order didn't have any exclusive boost tho and sucker punch is not exactly rockstar or ND in term of getting reviewer shit scary...
Exclusive game bonus does not mean that every game is automatically 80+. A shitty game will still be a shitty game. But reviewers with something like PSX, Dual Shockers, PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox and so on in it's names usually rate above the average. Also many journalists are in the perfect age to have grown up with one of those consoles and rate them higher, whether consciously or not (childhood memories). Advantages that multiplattform games like Assassins Creed Odyssey don't have

I just want to see something new from the Sony studios.
Something that isn't '' muh cinematic gaem '', something that just goes balls to the walls and focuses on fun gameplay ala DMC5.
DMC5 is still cinematic in its own way but it's more rewarding because you're still in control and actually doing the shit.

Just something that isn't so restrained by the the whole '' cinematic experience '' thing.

Neither God of War nor Spiderman nor TLOU2 are restrained by their cinematic focus lmao.
Especially not God of War and Spiderman.
Games where you dodge by pressing one button as it should be instead of pressing two like in Devil Trigger 5. Playing as V sucked ass too.

It's a GOTY contender, I think it'll be around 88-92. 90 is my prediction.

Have you finished GOW in "Give Me God of War" difficulty?

I don't want mediocre games, with shitty acting. We already have plenty of these from 3rd party. Gameplay was never an issue, actually PS Studio games and exclusive tend to be challenging and skill-bound to finish them at the maximum difficulty.

Im going with 80.
Mostly 8 out of 10’s
Some bias pro xbox reviewers will give it a 3/10 and Playstation pro reviewer will give it 9’s lol

Im buying day 1 regardless

As much as I like sucker punch infamous, I like my Action fighting games to be like God war or Ninja gaiden, I like a bit of Ninja fantasy and brutality.

My initial thoughts is trying to do realistic is not aligned with gameplay, but I will reserve judgement.

Timing blocks and strikes does not excite me as much as Gaiden type combat.

I dunno about Spiderman but God of War was absolutely restrained by it...
The camera in that game was complete ass and that was very specifically for the sake of being more cinematic. The camera being up his ass was mentioned by Cory as being for the sake of it being more cinematic.
The combat really isn't that deep either. And it's definitely not in Spiderman either.
It's flashy but it's not very deep and that's the point, it's supposed to make you see fancy and cinematic effects on screen with minimum effort.

I wasn't too big of a fan of V either but I've seen some people master the character and he can definitely be pretty awesome. He was just too different to me, didn't feel like DMC imo.
Dodging with Dante is a bit more complicated and relies a lot on movement, positioning and jumping but also the parry ( hitting weapons into the enemies weapon in a timed manner or his defensive stance ) and release or even teleports.
DMC5 has a ton more options there and that's the point, with Dante in particular you're supposed to dance between stances.
Both Nero and V do have one button dodges too.
But if you think that Dante doesn't either then I dunno what game you played, and he has a lot more depth to him in regards to avoiding damage.
The added depth to Nero with the arms too was insane, there's such an incredible amount you can do there.

DMC5 is very specifically built around mastering complex combos and experimentation, it's not just about feeling like you're awesome because of fancy animations but it's about actually being awesome which makes the reward all the greater.
GoW and Spiderman is all about looking impressive.

It's like the difference between a fighting game that allows for more diverse playstyles and self expression and fighting games that have been dumbed down to be easier and more casual.
Anyone who plays fighting games on a decent level of competence knows what I am talking about, it's a night and day difference and why so many pro players especially still prefer a lot of the older games and hate the direction a lot of fighting games have gone in.

'' Mediocre, DMC5 ''.
Rofl....

Sometimes I wonder if some of you even play non Sony exclusives at any competent level at all.
A lot of the difficulty in God of War especially is down to the '' RPG '' elements and can be cheesed quite easily, beating GoW on the hardest difficulty isn't really a feat.
And it's also not even the point I am getting at either, it's not about difficulty it's about gameplay depth.

I don't think that beating a game at the hardest difficulty is even that impressive generally speaking and it's not a good demonstration of skill.
Watch a competent player play DMC5 and GoW and pull off insane combos and just how much more self expression and depth there is in DMC5. It's so much more impressive to watch if you understand what's happening.

I don't think this game will score well. From the look of the previews, it is bog standard. Boring quests, combat, and bland looking art design.

If this game is simply an average open world game set in feudal japan, then it's probably not going to do well.

The hold block to win combat similar to AC2 puts it at 70 at best for me, but since game journalist love to have no challenge it's an easy 88 at minimum

Based on the score TLOU2 got, unless this game has some REAL major problems, it has to be 90+. It is so beautiful, offers so many options and there seems to be so much more game to this game.

For me it looks a million times better than TLOU2 overall and I hope it does really well.

I cannot read GOT as other thing than Game Of Thrones, damn... If it wasn't for this thread I still wouldn't know what you all were referring to

No black people, no LGBTQ+ no leftist agenda of any kind. I honestly can't see woke "games journalists" getting on board. It'll probably be between 82 and 84 on metacritic. I guarantee you the user score will be higher than the critic score.

There's no chance there isn't at least a couple of fully written articles calling it cultural appropriation just waiting for launch.
