Ghost of Tsushima |OT| - Summer blade cuts through, the PlayStation shall go on, this is its swan song

It looks a lot like Sekiro. GoT is a sort of streamlined, more accessible open world version of it.

You have the exact same stealth mechanics and indicators for starters. The blocking/parry is identical too. You have the same perfect parries if you press L1 at the last instant, the difference ofcourse is that there is no Posture management. They'll leave enemies open for a clean hit. There are heavy attacks that are unblockable but can be parried if you're willing to take the risk, and there are the thrust attacks you have to roll away from (idk if there is something like mikiri down the line). The game's enemy attack work with visual cues as well.

What gives GoT its own identity, are the stand offs. They're pretty cool.

Kind of reminds me of Jedi Fallen Order, solid game that just doesn't have the polish to be great, few too many rough edges.

Right now I think this is SP's best game yet. I liked the first 2 Infamous games, but they weren't above 8 for me (SS I thought was really mediocre). I'd rate this slightly higher atm, about on par with the metacritic score which is very good in fact. But it does lack polish. The camera can be shit, and I feel there is missing some basic stuff on the stealth side. But I'm not extremely far yet so who knows what kind of skills are waiting for me.

GoT is without a doubt a better product than JFO, though.

Sounds like a bandwidth problem? Have you had this happen on other games? Running on a pro correct?
Never, this is the first time. Yes brother on Pro. Suddenly just got a notification that the game installed something

I want to like the game, but the camera system is just horrible ? It needs a lock on system, and two camera modes, for combat it needs a zoomed out option cause right now good luck fighting multiple enemies in forts where a sudden shift in view results in seeing a wall. It's a fun game, and the atmosphere, music, acting is superb, hell even the combat ideas are great, but maaaan that camera system is just pure garbage

Go Go Neo Rangers!
Yeah nothing happened. The game switches back to 4K when I turn off the HDR which is very weird

That sounds like a bandwidth/cable issue. It's not registering it can do both. Have you tried another game since this has started?

Not really. It was fine yesterday though

The only thing I did was remove the HDMI from TV to monitor and now back to TV again

Go Go Neo Rangers!
How can I do that?
Just unplug the cable from both the PS4 and the tv wait a few seconds then plug it back in. I would do this with the PS4 off.

Basically one of the connections might not be "handshaking" with the TV.

Will do that. Thank you brother

I found the same at first but it didn't take long for me to unlock another stance, upgrade some skill trees and unlock ghost weapons.

I know people were freaking out when you compared this games combat to Sekiro before release but now that it's out I think there are some similarities which mean you may find the combat in this a lot easier if you played Sekiro.

I'm having no difficulty landing perfect parries on hard difficulty for example and I don't think I'd find that so easy if it hadn't been ingrained in me from Sekiro. I think Jedi Fallen Order has a similar system as well?

It's not like I cant play hard games, I beat Sekiro and platinumed GOW in GMGOW difficulty. I was just surprised at how hard the game was because the reviews made it seem like it was like AC level combat.

This game is beautiful but like fake beautiful. Jin goes through trees like he's some sort of ghost(😎) or something.

Yeah it took me by surprise too but I think it gets easier pretty quickly, although I assume the difficulty ramps up again later on.
I didn't even manage to beat Sekiro so hopefully I can make it through this on hard lol

This game is definitely not Sekiro hard, only thing that has similar difficulty is the wonky ass camera. I don’t like it much at all have died few times cus of it too lol.

But apart from that it might be the best game I’ve played so far this year even if again, the pacing in the prologue and such were slow and quite boring.

Of the open world offerings from Sony this is my fav I think even though I am only in the beginning, I liked it much more than Days Gone (most mediocre game) and HZD.

Also helps it doesn’t have the AAA open world trappings that both those games were steeped in. Both of those pretty much felt like Ubisoft games.

Wow, it's been a while since a game left such a strong first impression on me. I didn't like how the intro of the game ends with the same trope that Sekiro opened with, but that is a small gripe and overall I am all-in on this game.

Just got past the intro where the open world starts and I just picked a random location and went to it. It's been a while since I wanted to actually explore an open world. Can't wait to do some more quests and see how the systems of the game open up.

Also, the UI and menus in this game are top notch. I really appreciate when the UI in a game is smooth and just works.

Link isn’t working for me. Whats the charm?

Charm of Inari

You’ll earn the Charm of Inari after completing the Arrow Peak Shrine, located due south of the Golden Temple (one of the first key locations you unlock in the story). To get there, cross the river that separates the Ariake and Azamo prefectures. Keep going past Kii’s Pond. You’ll see a mountain in the distance. Climb it. If you’ve found yourself on the Sakimori Overlook or in the Azamo Foothills, you’ve gone too far. Here, for visual reference, is the trailhead you’re looking for:

You act like this is supposed to be climbing simulator and since it doesnt meet your standards the game is meh.
Climbing is a forgettably minor part of the game.
Ok, weeb. What’s with the hostility?

Wasn’t the game supposed to be the “Japan AC we always wanted!”?

Calm down, just because I’m not liking it a few hours in, doesn’t mean I won’t end up enjoying it once I reach the end.

How do I deal with enemies that have the big axe with massive reach? I can't just dodge them although that's what I'm trying to do because of the red markers. FML.

Game is good and all....

But after The last of us 2 animations, all other games look and feel odd
i heard A LOT of people saying this.

there is not a huge number of games with the polish and animations of tlou2 unfortunately...

(also sucker punch are a considerably smaller team compared to ND)

You have to dodge the red attack. Once you do that you can attack him 1 (or 2 times if you are fast) then back off and do the same thing again.
Or else just throw him a kunai and proceed to destroy him.

Been playing all night. This game is great. Combat is fun, missions are fun and DAMN is it pretty. My only complaint so far is how I cannot play in Japanese as I cant read the subs and pay enough attention to the action. And I would swap back and forth, but there is a load to last checkpoint when you switch. Oh and what's up with not getting anything for killing deer?

Map is feels pretty big so far. But then again St Denis felt like it was on another planet when I was puttering around Valentine... so we will see as time goes and my knowledge of the island grows.

Preoder stuff is just an Avatar, Mini soundtrack, and boxart theme.

The Deluxe and above comes with the armor sets, etc., that I am not going to wear even though they look amazing due not wanting the bonuses, personally. I want to progress with the game flow.

I'm finding this pretty boring to be honest. Day's Gone walks all over it at the moment.

What parts don't you like?
I played through Days Gone recently and although I enjoyed it I feel like it didn't get really good until late in the game once I started taking on more Hordes (and the game was too long in general).

The combat and even the, admittedly week, stealth in GoT is better than the early parts of Days Gone so far in my opinion. I think Tsushima is a more interesting and beautiful environment to explore as well (although the environments in Days Gone did also look pretty beautiful at times).

I like Days Gone a lot and think it was underrated but don't see how it walks all over GoT. Will definitely be interested to hear where you think it excels over GoT.

Yeah, that one.

Started the game in Kurosawa Mode, was really impressed.
Then switched to normal just to see and it looked far more "gamey", so I just decided to do a full Kurosawa run afterall.

Somehow I'm just much more impressed with it. Details stand out much more.

Btw, is there a lock-on for combat?
The camera is annoying.
Dunno, still trying to get my hands on the game.
no lock on confirmed.

this is more a batman type of combat but without slide into enemies, a more realistic approach, you have to always use the stick to direction the attacks and if you are swarmed, make a roll or 2 and distantiate yourself from the enemies and adjust the camera, also being defensive and using parry seems better than just attacking dudes, learn how to counter.
also go forwards with some main story and side stories before trying camps, you get tools that helps during combat.
