Lilly Wachowski confirms 'Matrix' series is a transgender allegory

Responding to a question posed about this Matrix fan theory, Wachowski said she was “glad that it has gotten out that that was the original intention.”

“The world wasn’t quite ready yet,” Wachowski said during a Netflix video interview that was posted Tuesday. “The corporate world wasn’t ready for it.”

Lilly Wachowski and her sister Lana Wachowski, both trans women, together created the "Matrix" franchise and directed the first three films, released between 1999 and 2003. Lana is directing the fourth "Matrix" film herself, currently slated for a 2022 release.

The theory that the films are a trans allegory has flourished since Lana and Lilly both came out as trans after the films were released. Lilly herself alluded to that possibility in the acceptance speech for a 2016 GLAAD award for her Netflix series "Sense8."

In the YouTube video posted Tuesday, Wachowski said she loves how “meaningful” the films are to transgender people.

“The way that they come up to me and say: these movies saved my life,” Wachowski said, “I’m grateful that I can be throwing them a rope to help them along their journey.

She said the "Matrix" series was about a “desire for transformation, but it was all coming from a closeted point of view.”

She described Switch, “a character who would be a man in the real world and then a woman in the Matrix," as representative of where her and her sister’s “headspaces were” when they were making the films.

“I don’t know how present my transness was in the background of my brain as we were writing it,” Wachowski said, “but it all came from the same sort of fire that I'm talking about.”

Was there a character who was a man in the real world and a woman in the Matrix? I honestly can't remember.

Didn't know both of them are trans now either...

I thought Switch was a woman in the real world and a woman in the matrix. But the name Switch checks out for a trans character.

Next up: how is bullet time and Kung fu an allegory for trans people? 🧐

Next up: the matrix is gun porn, is it a dog whistle for the 2nd amendment and white supremacists?

Next up: if Neo is literally Jesus the matrix a vehicle for Christianity and white supremacists?

these chicks literally only made one good movie and then only trash, between matrix sequels, jupiter ascending and sense 8...
Which suggests that maybe they weren't the only contributors to the production of The Matrix.

Which probablys explain why Neo wasn't wearing a bra for example, during the residual self-image scene.

Reminds me of JK Rowling and her attempts to retcon everything in Harry Potter. Everyone is gay, everyone is black/brown etc.
Again, this is blown way out of proportion.

Dumbledore makes perfect sense in hindsight being gay, and is hinted at several times if you reread the books. The guys love of knitting alone should have tipped people off.

Meanwhile she had no say whatsoever in who the producers of the non canon Cursed Child cast as Hermione, but did anyone really expect her to not support it and handwave it away?

Everything else she gets accused of is mostly made up bollocks, while she is constantly attacked by SJW's for being a racist, homophobic TERF.

Hell, she's probably the most high profile and influential person in the media right now, actually standing up to the insanity of the far left and cancel culture.

I'm just saying that the books themselves should be enough to tell you whether someone is gay, black or whatever and not just write it on twitter years later like it is some grand revelation. I personally have no issue with the facts themselves only in how they were delivered.

And I'm saying the books do, it's just never brought up explicitly because he's an old geezer, well passed the point of romantic entanglements, by the time the stories were taking place.

Dumbledore is written as being camp as hell, and all his backstory with Grindlewald was dripping with homoerotic subtext.

Confirming she was writing him as gay down the road was just that; confirming what she had already written.

Wait, they're both trans? That has to be a statistical anomaly right? What are the chances of a set of twins being, let's say, gay?

So the character Switch was trans? To me she looked like a woman in and out of the Matrix.
That's good. They didn't shove her identity in our face for no good reason.

Ok, fair enough.

It's an interesting trivia point about a side character (and a detail that actually didn't make the cut from the original script), but it doesn't really make the whole movie "a transgender allegory".

So if Matrix is a trans allegory then who irl is harvesting trans people for life energy? Would that make the SJWs the machines? Also does that mean nobody in Zion is trans, since they would all know their true identity?

Let me guess it wasn’t that thought out. In fact it wasn’t thought out at all and this is on the level of JK Rowling making a character gay after the fact.
