NVIDIA preparing GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 9984 CUDA cores & 12GB GDDR6X

The graphics card would allegedly feature 9984 CUDA cores, 1280 cores more than RTX 3080. Kopite reports that the GPU variant on this SKU is likely the GA102-250. The memory configuration would also change to a 384-bit bus (compared to 320-bit on RTX 3080). A wider bus means that the card will likely feature a capacity of either 12 GB or 24 GB (same as RTX 3090).

With this and the recent leaked 3070 TI info, AMD got Nvidia like

There was always going to be a "3080 Ti" between the 3080 and 3090, just a matter of how it's configured.

78SM/12GB@~900GB/s or 68SM/20GB@~760GB/s

This will be ~10-15% faster at the cost of having less VRAM.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
There is a lot of smoke these days, but its looking more and more like those that didn't purchase a 3080 or 3090 are going to be the real winners here.

Not to mention how hilariously stupid the scalpers and those that paid scalper prices are going to look.

God I hope so.

It looks like it, up until this weekend I was trying to buy a 3080 but failed badly. Now I think it was a blessing in disguise. I am cancelling my 3080 TUF and waiting for tech jesus review on big navi. I will wait, at this point it would be stupid not to do so.

Jesus christ so much rumors and speculation. Impossible to make an informed decision at the moment since the information is constantly changing.
Better just stick it out with my 1080Ti and hold off on a new GPU until sometime next year when all the dust settles.

Sounds smart

I'll believe it when I see it. So many rumors going on. I just want a new fucking graphics card. It should NOT be this hard. Although it definitely sounds nice to have, getting one is going to turn into another "Jingle All The Way" situation again.

Oh boy, what a clusterfuck... :)

Funny part is Huang tried real hard to get to this point, whatever the heck was in his mind when he broke up with TSMC. (yeah, I know they still produce something there)

How they are gonna price this one against the 3080 with 20 gb?!
Easy.
They won't do 3080 with 20GB.

say hi to market domination, they really dont need to do that.. No competition sucks
Lol, considering thread in which you are typing it.
GDDR6 is pricey, oversized GA102 chip is pricey and NV is already on the ropes with margins on 3080.

Lol sounds desperate.

I mean, competition is good, they're getting uncomfortable. That will make them lower their prices even more to compete.

Next year you’ll be hearing rumours about the 4000 series cards and those will come out in 2022.

The dust NEVER settles with pc hardware.

it's a panic move if it's caused by AMD
I agree. This isn't a coincidence especially since preliminary leaks (dash of salt although the leaker is fairly reputable) show the new AMD RX 6000 to be on par or even exceeding the speeds of the 3080.

Shaping up to be a good generation for the consumer.

They just realized they couldn't make a Titan this gen, so they will rebrand the 3090 with titan drivers and price this one at 1200.00?

????????????

How is this going to be better than the 3080?

Even on some (many) gaming benchmarks at 1080p-1440p, there's barely any FPS difference between 3080&3090. PS, if this is real, good luck getting these bahahaha.

I just don't want to buy something now only for a better option to be available in a few months time. So I'll be waiting for the dust to settle on 3080 and Big Navi, nevermind beyond that.

But who knows, maybe next year there will be rumors of 20GB 3080 resurfacing.

AMD got nvidia sweating so hard they're shafting their own customers once again! If AMDs mid-range cards come with 16GB vram nvidia is toast.

I just want a 3060 announced. Jesus nVidia (if this rumor is true)

Also, 12GBs of GDDR6X is perfectly fine. People going nuts because it isn't 16GBs don't make sense to me.
