gamesindustry: Critics agree that Sony's PS5 transcends on-paper comparisons to Xbox

What time is it?
One console can be good without the other being bad.

It's going to be transcending the back end of FPS and resolution comparisons as well in just a few short days, and then for an indefinite amount of years.

And what happens if the improvements are small, barely recognisable, what about the ps5 controller, you're missing out on what is the only true next gen controller. What about ssd speeds for loading, all these future game will be harnessing the power of Sony's superior ssd. There are massive advantages that people can see and feel.

To me it seems Sonys system will be by far the best place to play these next gen games?

Series X has
More power
More storage space
VRR
1440p support
Archiving next gen games on external drive
Auto HDR for BC games
Quick resume
Gamepass
Significantly improved load times for BC games (better than PS5)

Yet I'm still more excited to buy a PS5 over a Series X. I hope Sony patch the some of the stuff Series X has such as VRR, archiving games to external drives, quick resume in the first 6 months atleast. But the reason I prefer PS5 over Series X is because of the first party lineup in the first year in comparison to Series X. I also am more excited about the controller even though it's most likely gimmicky. Also like activity cards taking you straight into a certain point in a game instantly.

It was a really hard decision for me to switch from Ps4 to XSX because I really enjoyed Sonys first party lineup.

I switched because the value of gamepass and the bathesda buyout. I think your right in Sonys first year line up on Ps5 but I do see Xbox getting seriously better this gen.

It sure will hurt when god of war and naughty dogs games start coming out though.

I think I can survive without some vibration and resistance that's going to be supported in about 5% of games, also the SSD talk isn't really working out for you guys so far.

Other than the ps5 controller what's "next gen" about the ps5? Every review I've seen everyone loves the triggers, the box is huge, the ui changes are nice and then that's it. I don't understand 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I guess they are judging it based off the overall experience. Critics don't tend to just focus on just one aspect like the products size for example.

But it's ok if you don't understand it.

5% of games, you know that's just wrong, and the ssd is going to be used for all games going forward, so your not really giving that some serious thought now are you, seems to me your just avoiding stuff on purpose.

You know these things are a big deal.

I'm willing to give both boxes a full 12 months before I settle my mind on this. Covid mega-lockdowns affected videogame development pipelines. Let the first year of games stand on their own two feet and then we can compare beyond "on paper comparisons".
If it's not some kind of reminder there's barely even third party games in the pipeline, everything is messed up.

You're literally blowing one console so yeah the feeling aspect is covered they should have made that DualSense controller blow you back and call it DualSensual.

I can't say it enough times... MS should have delayed Halo Infinite campaign... but should have released the f2p multiplayer mode with the new gen.

Lol! All’s fair in love and war. Microsoft throws jabs and Sony throws them back. Just friendly competition amongst rivals. Nothing more, nothing less. I’m happy for Shu, the same as I was happy for Phil.

Agree with this. If Xbox were enjoying the praise that Sony are, you know Greenberg would be the first to let you know about it and MFs here would eat it up and gloat. Same posters refuse to accept PS5s success.

I don’t know.
I like to play new games like every single new generation.

And I’m waiting these multiplatforms games being better on Series X.
A pack in a 6 month temp exclusive and a cross gen expansion fuck yeah man I can see why blokes like you state this is the best launch lineup Sony has had.. Not long to wait bud..

Edit: Forgot the remaster of an old game.. lucky we hate playing old games at higher fidelity so it doesn't matter..

You know exclusives will still exist in 2022.

I wouldn't say that just yet. However it does seem like a great system.

We know, by looking at Steamcharts and XBox Lives Most Played Games list that very few people play old games outside a few evergreen titles so the Series X BC advantage is meaningless.

I'd also bet my life that 99 percent of gamers won't be able to tell the difference between PS5 and SX multiplatform games so the minor TF advantage is completely nullified.

The DualSense is the appreciable better controller due to haptics, resistance, and mic.

The SSD + IO advantage of the PS5 may turn out to become a real thing in PS5 exclusives as far as impact on game design. It might not. We'll see.

The Series X's two biggest hardware advantages are great on paper, but meaningless in reality. On paper advantages do play well on message boards though.

People can always be wrong and there's a massive power difference between the two. We just have to wait and see if it happens.

This thread is really delivering lmao.

Did anyone expect different from Shu? Ps5 could be 2tf and he'll still say the same lol. Its called marketing.

It's actually gamesindustrybiz that's saying it. Shu is just retweeting it.

This is similar to when Dealer says something and Greenberg retweets it.

Absolutely bro. Just because Sony’s been on top for 4 consecutive gens doesn’t mean they don’t deserve props for delivering the goods every single time. There’s no telling where gaming would be if Sony hadn’t entered the market. They got screwed over by Ninty and still persevered through it all. They’ve perfected their formula and have consistently delivered top-notch games and for that they have my gratitude. Simply put, their games and services are awesome and I’m very happy to have owned every PlayStation since the first. Now I just need the 12th to hurry up and get here so I can get my feel on with this DualSense 😂
