PS5's HDMI 2.1 is currently capped at 32Gbps bandwidth.

What TV you would get or have for it?

Update: Currently PS5 is only showing ~32Gbps. Future update is meant to meet the full bandwidth of the chpiset.

Thanks to Venuspower Venuspower

I just got my PS5 today.
Just to prove it once again:
ps5_frl_bandwidthklkfo.png

My setup:
- AVR: Denon X6700H
- TV: LG OLED C9
- Source: PS5 connected to the Denon X6700H.

As can be seen next to "FRL Bandbreite" (german for "FRL bandwidth")
the PS5 outputs at 32 Gbps.

Let us hope that this is just a temporary limitation.

Do not be confused by "Max. FRL Bandbreite". This is the maximum bandwidth my LG C9 supports.

Edit: Before someone asks: I took this screenshot from the Webinterface of the X6700H.

Thanks to pyrocro pyrocro for sharing:

PS5 HDMI capability

As we mentioned above, the PS5's HDMI cable and port are the HDMI 2.1 standard, which means the cable can transfer data much faster than a regular HDMI port.

To get into the specifics here, this means on a technical side that the PS5's 2.1 HDMI has a bandwidth of 48Gbps, which is almost three times more than a 2.0b.

This is what allows it to support 8K video at 60fps and 4K video at 60-120fps (depending on the game you're playing).

I also want QMS (Quick Media Switching) asap, when the hell is that coming to any telly manufacturer. It allows you to not have those black screens when switching between SDR & HDR, resolution or refresh rate. Would be really sweet to make things fully smooth in regards to loading content and changing modes.

f, for example, you're playing the PS5 game on a 4K TV which has an HDMI 2.0b port – which is limited to an 18Gbps bandwidth – you'll be looking at gameplay in 4K still, but it will run at a maximum 30fps.

That is not true (at least generally speaking). HDMI 2.0 is enough for 4k60, I don't know where the author came to that conclusion. I mean look at the PS4 Pro or the XOX.

The only thing you can't do with HDMI 2.0 is 4k60 with HDR and full RGB without chroma subsampling.

What other bog standard “feature” are we going to make a thread about the Ps5? The fact it has a GIGABIT LAN PORT?

Products that conform to the STANDARD of HDMI 2.1 will require this bandwidth in order to be certified.

OK Now I get why the guy was triggered.

This is false. HDMI 2.0b supports 4K @ 60Hz with HDR. Both my TCL 55R617 and 55R635 can display content that's conveyed via their HDMI ports with those parameters; I can play Watch Dogs in 4K @ 60Hz with HDR enabled.

Here's an article that lists the official specifications for multiple HDMI standards.

Only in 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 in 8bits.

HDMI 2.0 can’t do 4k 60fps HDR 4:4:4 10-12bits that is most devices with HDMI 2.1 works.

That's what I was thinking. There's not enough bandwidth for dynamic HDR metadata but 4K 60 with static HDR metadata should be possible, right?

I have had a x900h since it launched in the US. Right now HDMI 2.1 feature are in some kind of quasi beta state with some patches "coming soon" according to sony. My biggest problem right now is i have to reboot the tv or my PC at times to deal with some weird glitching that happens when my PC tells the TV to shut off after 3 hours of inactivity.

It's a kick ass tv for sure if you want a 0% chance of burn in but don't expect to see alot if any of AAA console games using 4k120. I'm playing everything on PC at 1440p120 to keep my 3080 from tuning into a jet engine and i love it. I guess I'm easier to please though after coming from using a sony z4100 for about 12 years.

Technically it doesnt support 2.1 cause it doesnt do VRR

Software is coming, but the chipset is, and it's official.

Video OutHDMI™ OUT port
Support of 4K 120Hz TVs, 8K TVs, VRR (specified by HDMI ver.2.1)

Oh damn I must have missed all the games supporting it
So ask the game devs or the Sony firmware team about that... that is software support.

Just like 8k... HDMI 2.1 certification has mandatory support tests for 8k so PS5 and Xbox supports 8k but there is no content to test it.

I’m not the one calling Xbox doesn’t support 8k just because there is no game using 8k.
That should be a dumb claim.

Why Xbox fans rely on FUD? It is becoming ridiculous.

YOU know that 8K is 4x 4K, right? So it can only handle native 8K@15fps or native 6K@30fps, assuming there are no other bottlenecks.

Never said it makes sense lol. Anything past 4K is overkill and a waste of resources if you ask me, but it supports it

Your link is outdated lol
The dev said it could run in 6k and 8k but it never happened.

Look at the interview date... Oct 1.

My pic is from the game preorder page in November.

Please come back when you have no FUD to spread.

?

That is a PS4 game... you know PS4 games doesn’t support 120fps.

PS5 CoD supports 120fps.

I asked you to comeback when there is no more FUD.
