NieR Automata has sold over 5 million copies on all platforms

Square Enix has announced that NieR Automata has sold over 5 million copies worldwide on all platforms. The publisher did not reveal any platform-specific figures, though SteamSpy hints at the PC version selling between one and two million copies.

As we’ve already reported, NieR Automata never really received any major update on the PC. Thankfully, though, its modding community was able to fix most of its crucial issues.

For instance, NieR Automata Input Overhaul Mod is a must-have mod as it overhauls and fixes all of the game’s keyboard+mouse issues. This mod clearly shows how enjoyable NieR Automata can be with the K&M. And, since I’ve finished it with it, I can confirm that it works like a charm.

PC gamers can also download an HD Texture Pack. Created by modder ‘GPUnity’, this pack overhauls almost all of the game’s textures.

Let’s at least hope that NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 will not follow NieR Automata’s lackluster PC support!

You have plenty of games out there with "asses" and I don't think they sell 5 millions.
Nier Automata is a fantastic game for many reasons, and this one is irrelevant.
Ask Genshin Impact lmao. And it was a joke my man.

Of course the game is fantastic. The only thing I'm sad about it is the low quality of the optimization for the PC port nd the people that drops it after route A.

But aside from those nitpicks it's one of my top games from this gen. One hell of an ending, and the credit sequence... Holy fuck the feels.

Giving Yoko Taro a budget helps.
I love those crazy devs that just spill creativity all over the place anytime they develop something. Can't wait for Replicant man.

Well deserved, even though the PC port I'm playing right now really is... lacking is so many area's. Even with the FAR mod it doesn't run particularly great, which is a shame for a game that is so well regarded as this one.

I really hope the newfound success will result in a port or sequel to Drakengard 3 as well, that game could be awesome with some more budget and polish and the designs fit right in with the 2B fancrowd.

I know. She is Yoshida's magnum opus as an artist/character designer. A sexier android than KOS-MOS while having a better ass than Cammy.

You know what's kind of sad? That a lot of people see 2B and decide to skip the game thinking it's it coomer bait, while in fact it's one of the deepest games I've played.

I really want a sequel, but we probably won't get it. Even if there's another Nier game, they're usually large timelines apart.

Well deserved.

Made Yoko Taro more recognizable and Platinum basically made a resurgence thanks to this.

Bought a PS4 for this game.

I'm not saying the game shouldn't be fixed for the people who can't run the game, but am I the only one who played this on PC at launch day and experienced no issues? Curious about how widespread the problem was/is.

lol know what's funny here....

cyberpunk runs great on PC but the console versions suck ass = everyone loses their mind.

nier automata is designed for consoles and the PC version sucks = nobody gives a shit.

the game on PC needs a fan made mod for basic shit like: playing in fullscreen, fix cutscene stuttering, adjust settings that are ridiculous expensive and have no option to change (which causes a lot of crashing), shit kb/m support, low resolution (console quality) ao, bloom, god rays. Platinum Games released ONE patch for the game on PC and it didn't even have any PC fixes.

definitely shows that console owners have had it lucky cause developers target them and PC gets stuck with shitty ports. as soon as PC gets a good build and consoles have to deal with a shitty port = all hell breaks loose! CDP is the evilist company in the world. stocks tank. delisted. basically it's cool to hate on CDPR. i'm not defending CDPR because they could've and should've handled things better but it just shows how targeted the hate is on this game. CDPR has already fixed a lot of stuff in the game and will continue to do so well into next year. meanwhile PC owners of Nier Automata are fucked unless they download a mod that some fan had to make because Platinum Games released a broken half assed game and didn't bother their ass fixing it. they only wanted the money.

see above. you need a mod to fix a lot of issues so you're lucky i guess or just ignoring the issues.

Quite possibly the best game I ever played, it's comfortably alongside Super Metroid, OOT, Shadow of the Colossus and Super Mario Galaxy as the best game in their respective generation. Automata is exactly everything I think games should be and I love how strong the narrative focus is without sacrificing gameplay one bit. It's a perfect marriage of perfection.

Plus A2 is the best character ever.

Fantastic news , glad to hear that . It might not have the deepest combat as a character action game nor the best RPG system , but it's unique , have the best Japanese VA performance ever(9s) , emotionally touching , the best OST and just some of the most memorable gaming experience ever . Also god tier 2B ass .

Shame that not many people play past Ending B because they're like "ehh wtf I have to repeat the playthrough bla bla bla" . Little did they know the game became so different after that

Their loss.
It's funny to me tho considering all of this '' we're so mature '' thing going on in video games, if you get turned off from a game and can't see past the butt then quite frankly you're not very mature...
If things need to be super gritty and '' realistic '' for you to take it seriously then you only care about maturity on surface level.

Yoko Taro never does direct sequels. Even we do get new NieR it will be with all new casts and it would take place decade after Automata.

I wish it sold much, much more, but 5 million is great.
The game still considered niche, 5 million is great number. I wish 13 Sentinels could sell that much.

Perhaps not 5 million, but it could sell a lot more with some proper regional pricing and if they ported the game to other platforms.
I honestly don't know what Vanillaware or Atlus are thinking.
