I think we are all happy to leave 2020 behind us, and launch into a better, brighter 2021. With a new year comes a new gaming setup thread.

The gaming setup thread is a GAF classic and one of the longest running traditions here. The earliest one I managed to find was 2004 - but please share if there is an earlier one, and I will add it here.

These threads, covering three very different decades, provide a completely unique, curated look into the evolution of gaming at our homes. The 2021 thread will be especially interesting as it will be the first one to launch with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, at the beginning of the end of the pandemic.

FAQs

How do I upload pics?

Use the +Image button below. In case it's not working for some reason, Abload.de is pretty good too.

My setup is cluttered, I don't want to post it!
Just do it! Seeing collections of hundreds of games, figures, art is a lot of fun. We have seen all kinds over the years.

Can I post other rooms and non-gaming stuff? Kitchen? Garage? Cars? Audio gear?
Yes! While it's good to lead with gaming setups, feel free to follow with a broader look. Some people enjoy peeking into people's different lives around the world. We tried having a separate cribs thread back in 2011, but redundancy with this thread meant the concept didn't take off alone. It's also fun seeing people's audio gear, cars, home gyms.

Wait, where is your setup?
I was hesitant to make this thread because I worry that having my setup in the OP will set a wrong tone, and may discourage people from sharing all kinds of setups and collections. While I enjoy a minimalist design at my home, I also love seeing Amiibo collections, miniatures, sex toys, crazy shelving systems, POS merchandise... I will share my London and all new Finland setups later. In the meanwhile, here is a throwback to my 2004 gaming setup.

Mine is boring af and my camera is from the middle ages so try to make out something from this:

I don't care about how it looks really, only that its functional, that its a 65" ZD9/Z9D on the stand is most important to me right now. I'd go really minimal if I could though probably. I'll try and get something better up soon, with a decent camera.

Guess if I have children or not lol.

edit - its funny how small a 65" TV appears when I take pictures on my phone's camera.

No changes since I just posted in the 2020 thread in late November. Switch Lite and Steelseries Arctis 7x headset not pictured.

XH90? (Could be XH80 as well I think but I'd assume you went for the 90 given the PS5) I quite like the feet on most of the 2020 Sony models as it feels like a natural evolution of 2018 and 2019. Making them thinner in 2019 and angling them less in 2020 so people who watch alone/straight on in a small group will still see less of the legs instead of just people at acute angles.

I'm getting far too excited about CES 2021 today with the news coming out, hopefully we'll see some new technology sets next year, none will be as good as value as what you have though.

edit - What TV to do you have DGrayson DGrayson ? I think I saw you post it once but I've forgotten and you seem like a TV enthusiast like myself so I'm sure its nice.

Hah no that must have been the OP or someone else. I just have a 55" Sony XE90 (x900e) which I have had for a while now. I still like it though, looks great.

Yep. Well X900H is the model here ( and X90CH for Costco). I’m very pleased with it after nearly 3 months. Like the design, picture is great to my non-videophile eyes. Big upgrade going to 65”, 4K and HDR from the lower end 55” Samsung 1080p I had the past several years.

This is the first thing I've won since my participation ribbons for tripping over the hurdles in elementary school track & field.

Dec 2020 - Hopefully the last time everything is in the same spot. I have some pretty grand plans coming for a Nerdery but I'm unsure when I'll be able to get started right now.

Ok got it all cleaned up ;)

Mostly the same as last year. New additions are

- RTX 3080
- Blue Yeti mic
- Beyerdyamic DT 1770 Pros
- Logitech GPro Wireless mouse
- Logitech Brio 4k webcam

Oh and I built a custom pen holder out of Legos with a cell phone stand as my previous pen holder was made of cardboard and was falling apart after like 10 years. And I got a larger cable basket for under my desk so I redid the cable management.

So did Tabris leave Neogaf? These threads are originally what brought me here many years ago, never paid for email so I couldn't register lol. The past couple days I've been looking through 2015-2016 for some ideas, and the people bitching about Tabris for his setups were funny as fuck.

Anyway, I'll add mine later tonight probably

Here's mine for now. I know it's boring. Still deciding which sports pictures to hang up, but I'm buying a house this year so I'm not really bothering trying to add much right now. Maybe a fake plant or some shit. Curtains were from a roommate that left em, haven't had the energy to look for new ones.

Usually I'd also sit my laptop in front of the TV and connect that via HDMI switch, but that's upstairs at the moment.

  • PS5 digital
  • PS4, lay down under TV for disc drive for DVD's and PS4 digital backlog, given PS5'S small SSD size
  • Analogue MegaSG & SuperNT, sat on top of PS4, hacked so I can just turn on and play games.
  • XBSX for sampling the odd GP game, or old X360 digital game I had. But if I'm honest, it gets used for retail retroarch for PS1, PS2, Sega Saturn and Sega DC games a good 90% of the time.
