Wired: Xbox Has Always Chased Power. That's Not Enough Anymore. (Exclusive interview with the Xbox team)

There was loads of ways he could have spun that PR without also opening up the possibility like he did with his comment

Paired with the fact that Zenimax is still retaining its publishing arm as a seperate entity to XGS, it's incredible how certain you lot are that none of them are coming to PlayStation
I think it would be extremely unlikely that any would go to PlayStation barring Game Pass being on the platform. Switch seems much more likely, but even that is questionable. Sure they will evaluate it on a case by case basis, why wouldn't they? But I just don't see any reason as things currently stand, that it would make sense to put a game on PlayStation. If it hurts Game Pass, they won't do it. So at best, that will leave the possibility for some titles to hit PS a year or two after release, but again, not seeing the point in that.

Their keeping it now because the contracts are still being processed. They may even stay a first party publisher. Regardless, Bethesda is now first party. If Sony wants Bethesda games, they'll hsbe to work out a deal for Gamepass. That ain't happening...

That only the Switch is in the equation and not PlayStation was not what Phil said, or even remotely hinted at it for that matter, and as such is conjecture on your part

Keep up
I'm up and then some. Not gonna continue to argue about it. What's done is done. You'll see for yourself.

The deal literally strengthened the brand substantially. Giving games to your competitor weakens the brand substantially. They aren't going backwards after being crushed for not having a strong game catalog when they've just applied the remedy.

They release just one game to Sony after what's in the contracts, just one, they lose the confidence in the brand because Sony gamers will just wait until the rest of Bethesda games released on PS5. Their trying to bring people over to their ecosystem, not give them reasons to stay in Sonys.

Plus, if all they needed was Gamepass exclusive for a year or two on all Bethesda studio games, that would cost far less than $7.5 billion.

It blows my mind that anyone can look at that and be like, "nah, 500 dollars console and 70 dollar physical games please. I really need a remake of a ps3 game and sort of a sequel to Spiderman!" There is a whole ocean of games out there that game pass lets you try risk free.
You know what really blows minds?. People with good earned money who spend what they want on a good product, what a time to be alive eh?

Power alone has never been enough in a generation. An argument could be made for current generation (I do not count mid gen refreshes when the generation sales leader was already decided), but there was a lot more to PS4 dominance than the initial power advantage. Price and games, plus brand loyalty, plus MS putting one shit show behind it (RRoD) while starting one pre-launch (Kinect, TV TV TV, no used games before back tracking, and horrible cloud PR).

It's cool though that MS recognizes this finally. If only they had OG Xbox quality exclusives (OG Halo, KOTOR) and power advantage.

I mean, Xbox will never, ever beat Playstation, but this article's title is wrong. Microsoft didn't chase power just last gen, when the Xbox One was much weaker than PS4.
You said it. How could the writers of the article forget about the generation that is currently happening?

Because I don't have time to play an ocean of games.

I want very high quality game experiences I can enjoy when I have time for games.

And these usually end up being single player experiences.

This is why Xbox Series S will sell many times the amount of its powerful brother. Especially at $15/month for Series S All Access. Think about that, $15 gets you the new hardware with Velocity Architecture(1440p/120fps) and 200 games right off the bat. Best value in gaming today.
Series S is 24.99 a month. Get your facts straight.

Are all your posts written like advertisements?

Also "All Access" isn't available to everyone, nor is it available everywhere.
Good to see him banned. Other forums encourage this type of behavior. Place full of PR bots.

Microsoft is still the parent company at the end of the day. They have say where Zenimax publishes. 7 billion dollars to put games on PlayStation makes absolutely zero sense as that’s less incentive in forcing people to buy a GamePass sub. You’ll come back to these posts next year and the year after and realize just how wrong you truly were.

Denial is the first stage of acceptance. You’ll get there.

Skipped reading all that balls. MS was competitive in the 360 era. All they had to do was to continue to focus on the games but being American, for some reason they have to be no. 1 in power but the next gen they forgot to load the gun with ammo. Most powerful handgun in the world that fires blanks.

This gen we now have the peas hooter that sprays bullets all over the place and the BFG that takes the same sized bullets only makes more noise per ejection.

You decide. But the reality is power is going to become irrelevant because frames and fidelity will become negligible so the only true differentiator is da fucking G A M E S you Scalebound piece of shit!

Every time I see gamepass being sold as the answer I swear a baby dolphin dies. Why does every single gamepass crusader forget that PSNow is a thing and has more than twice as many games? Or that the PS5 will have more than a dozen triple A games for free for PSPlus users.
Or doesn't have free online for ftp games.

The lengths that people go to justify that their preferred brand is better is just.... mind numbing. That's on both sides. PSnow/gamepass/PS/Xbox.... Just buy what you like. Leave other people alone if like something different. It's not that hard.

Here is a good a place as any. Will this Xbox Series X run Dark Souls 3 any better?

I tried it one my One X and it runs like dogshit.

there is always a thread of how great game pass is, don't get me wrong its a pretty good deal but that is not solely a console generation victory, and it sounds like too much overhype and shoved on our faces. gamepass is ok, it is ok. it is not the crème Della crème of games that is for sure, leave that to sony exclusives here.

This is the point I always try to point out.

That it is not as valuable as some repeately say.

I'm not the biggest of Xbox fans (see my post history if you don't believe me) but let's say hypothetical you buy an XSX or XSS as your main console.

You are almost definitely going to get Xbox Live Gold because consoles these days are pretty pointless without the online subscription. That Xbox Live subscription (without Game Pass) is currently $25 per quarter or $100 per year.

If you get Game Pass Ultimate then it has XBL Gold included and is $15 per month or $180 per year. However you choose to slice up the hypothetical breakdown in cost, you're essentially getting Game Pass for $80 per year since you'd probably buy XBL Gold anyway. So Game Pass is basically $7 per month if you think of it that way.

So if we consider that games are likely to cost $70 each very soon and you'd have to buy all of your Sony first party titles outright rather than getting them via PS Now (they won't be on there) AND you'll likely be paying for PS Plus anyway, Game Pass Ultimate is a great deal in my opinion.

Even if you only played one of their AAA first party titles (that would cost $70 or more) per year, you're already getting your money's worth. All you need to do is play a couple more games (in the space of 1 year) and you've got your money's worth. If you played 1 or more games per month on top of whatever AAA first party stuff also comes to Game Pass (supposedly they're all coming to Game Pass) then you're getting your money's worth and then some.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the idea that it's not a good deal only flies if you ignore the fact that people would be buying XBL Gold regardless and therefore $100 of the $180 annual cost for Game Pass Ultimate is essentially a sunk cost.

It’s just part of Game Pass now. I could see it gaining traction if that Samsung deal is true.
I still don't see it. I think mobile gamers like simple mobile kinds of games and a console gamer is a console gamer for the most part

I think MS are okay with it being added Game Pass value. Just one more reason to sub up.

I mean my honest opinion on this is that $15/month for Series S All Access is a great deal, you get 1440p/120fps with the Velocity Architecture hardware and 200 games right off the bat.
