Then you're the guy to ask...

Just started playing. Did 4 hours of strictly gold bounties by myself. Is there a matchmaking feature that puts you into a 4 man crew?
Yes. There is an Look For Group (LFG) option on Xbox games in both the PC and Xbox user interface. Just click on the game and it should be off to the right hand side SoT is fairly popular and there is usually 200+ LFG posts for SoT. You can create your own post as well and sail on either a sloop, brig or galleon.

In game, there is also random matchmaking, but it’s hit and miss, as it’s about a 50/50 shot at playing with someone cool or running into
some idiots, people without mics, etc.

There is also a bunch of SoT Discord groups to join.

You can add me to your friends list: MajorHavoc 2049

I play in both Xbox only and PC/Xbox servers.

After multiple tries at getting this game since launch it finally clicked for me today and I played for HOURS.

Gold missions were boring me. But then I found a skull on the ground and was introduced to the world of hunting pirate skeletons and I’m a high seas ghostbuster now. Loving it.

Any time. I love this game and know the learning curve hump is hard to get over. Been trying to get my co-worker and Fortnite duo partner into it. He thinks it sucks, but I think he's just getting over the learning curve.

Already completed the first two Tall Tales. And killed the Kracken solo.

Cool, looking forward to the new Merchant missions and what goals and events Rare comes up with each season.

My friend and I hit the level cap with the Reapers at almost the same time this past weekend. We had some great adventures along the way.

If anyone wants to play, I'm downloading this now. I played a bit back towards launch so It's been a while but I'd love to play with a group of you. Really just looking for a GAF group to play anything with atm lol.

EDIT: My gamertag is my Gaf name.

I mostly play solo/duos on a Sloop. But I'll take you on some voyages next week.

Outside of the name, I didn’t know anything about this game. Then yesterday I come across this video :

It picked my interest and I checked a bit more the game. It looks interesting. Unfortunately I am not a PC player and don’t have a Xbox but this game good be one of the reason I end up with one in the future...

Was doing a solo $10K Reaper chest return tonight.

A Brigantine saw me and chased me to the hideout. I yelled at them that they'd better back off or they'd eat gunpowder kegs.

They didn't listen.

I dropped a keg right behind my ship at the hideout and ran in to turn in the bounty.

Right when I came out the Brigantine was just arriving and slammed into the keg at full speed. It was GLORIOUS. Their front mast collapsed and I could hear them freaking out.

I got back on my Sloop and yelled at them "I warned you about the gunpowder, idiots. Want another?" and they backed off.

Greatest game ever made.

I had several epic battles this past weekend.

My shipmate and I were just ticking off some Season 1 boxes on a sloop in the Devil's Roar to level up when several sloops in an alliance started cruising around. One came near us and we raised the alliance flag. Then they started firing cannon balls at us. We ran, as we had a decent amount of loot and a lvl 5 Gold Hoarders flag. We sailed through a Flameheart event at Kraken's Fall. I jumped out and boarded their ship as my partner sailed to the nearest outpost to sell. I hit their anchor and killed both of them. I rejoined my partner and we sold all we had and lowered our Gold Hoarders flag. Since we had nothing to loose, we went back to Flameheart and had to deal with all the ghost ships and the player sloop, but ended up sinking their ship, taking their lvl 5 Gold Hoarders flag, all their loot and selling it all at the Reapers. It was good to get revenge on someone who tried to screw us over. 😁

Then went on a server merge/aliiance with a bunch of friends where we had two brigs and a sloop going. Our Brig reached lvl 5 with the Merchant Alliance with the new Merchant mission and then all of us took on an Ashen Winds event. After we finished the event and loaded the loot, our sloop left first and on the way to an outpost, was attacked by a Skeleton Gally. A try hard player sloop came and tried to sink our friend. One of those rock islands were blocking our brigs and the enemy sloop didn't see us as we were moving in to help our friends. It was a pretty crazy battle as the sloop crew had some skills and the Skeleton Gally was attacking us all. In the end, we sunk the Skeleton Gally and the enemy sloop, with tons of loot and a lvl 5 Order of Souls flag to sell. Good times.

So I saw a ship docked at a small island flying a rank 2 souls flag. It was a sloop and he had his sails up, so probably a noob solo player doing some skeletons.

I dropped anchor right next to him, and he saw me. He said "I come in peace."

I wasn't coming in peace.

I ran to his ship as he climbed on mine and started to fire bomb his mast. I noticed he had 4 skulls on the island.

He said "are you really burning my ship?" and I saw that he had a firebomb in his hand. I one-shotted him with a pistol as his ship sank.

Ended up with 4 skulls and a flag turn in for the reapers.

I cant believe the only enemies are still skeletons .. 3 years later.. and the february update only includes cosmetics... wtf rare

I’m level 45 in the Gold Hoarders, 38 and 36 in Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance respectively. Pirate Legend starting to feel within reach.

Not really sure I’m really that good at the game yet though. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

We are still in the middle of Season One, so this is just a mid-season mini update. Rare did add a mini event with the latest update, the Festival of Fishing. Rare also added the quality of life update, enabling Steam players the ability to friend, chat and join with Xbox and Windows Store crews, so now the game is fully integrated across all portals and platforms, which is a pretty big deal.

Besides skeletons, there is also sharks, megalodons, krakens, the Ghost Fleet and the deadliest opponents of all, humans.🏴‍☠️ And to say that Sea of Thieves only has skeletons would be like saying Quake only has The Strogg to fight or Doom only has demons fight, etc. The variety of skeletons in Sea of Thieves at this point rivals that of the baddies in any other game. There are the regular island skeletons, which spawn with a variety of weapons and scale in difficulty all the way from random spawn/Level 1 Order of Souls voyages to the more difficult skeletons in Athena's Fortune voyages. Then there is the Bounty/Skeleton Fort skeletons, which include 5 different type of skeletons, all requiring a different tactic to defeat. Then there are the Gold Hoarder Skeleton's, which are encountered in a few of the Tall Tales and Wayfinder Gold Hoarder voyages. Ashen Skeletons are found in The Devil's Roar, Molten Sands Fortress, Tall Tales and the Ashen Winds world event. Then you have the different colored Shadow of Fate skeletons, which require different lantern colors to be able to defeat, which appear in The Fort of the Damned, Athena Thieves' Haven runs and a few limited time events over the years. Then there is the rare Ancient Skeleton, which can be defeated for Ancient Coins.

To lead all these armies of Skeletons, there are Skeleton Captains and Ashen Skeleton Captains, who captain Skeleton Fleet ships, random skeleton sloops and galleons, and also appear on Skeleton Forts and randomly on islands. Next in the hierarchy of skeleton bosses are the Skeleton Lords, which include the various Fort Lords and Ashen Lords. Finally there are the main bosses in the game, The Tall Tale Skeleton Lords, who besides Tall Tales, may also appear in world and limited time events.
Captain Warsmith: Leader of the Skeleton Fleet and all the Skeleton Captains and creator of cursed cannon balls
Captain Briggsy: Famous pirate adventurer in the Sea of Thieves
Graymarrow: Leader of the Fort of the Damned
Captain Flameheart: Leader of the Ghost Fleet
The Gold Hoarder: The founder of The Gold Hoarder's faction, who was consumed by greed and power and turned into a gold skeleton. The hardest boss in the game to defeat and the final boss from the original nine Tall Tales and found in the throne room on the Shores of Gold.

You're almost there! Then you open up the whole Pirate Legend part of the game with tons of new gear, the Athena's Fortune Hideout and all the Athena Voyages.

So tonight these assholes chased my friend and I when we had a full ship, demanded we ally (we didn't want to) so they spawn camped us for an hour. Fuck this game.

That sucks. For this very reason I don’t allow my ship to pile up with too much stuff. But the nervousness and stress that I get when a ship gets too close for comfort - especially when I’m solo sloopin’ - is part of the reason why this game is so great to me. The choices made around risk vs reward are so important.

Hit 100 Level Renown today. Level 49 Gold Hoarders...should get to 50 tomorrow, then I’ll focus on Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance. Told my nephew I’ll take him down into the Pirate Legend Vault when I first open it up in the tavern. He then proclaimed me his favourite uncle. :messenger_beaming:

We just finished a merchant voyage and were headed to the outpost. They saw us, chased us, demanded an alliance, then killed us and spawn camped us for an HOUR while calling US toxic.

I love risking it all in SoT and to go after trophy shots with tons of loot on board.

We didn't want to give up the ship (we had a FULL ship of crates + the manifest) and were hoping they'd get tired and leave.
If you are getting spawn camped and cannot come back after 10 minutes, you have lost. This is the game where you have to admit defeat and scuttle. If you want to try again, you will have to try naval combat to win it back.

This is a harsh game for new players to learn, accepting defeat is a bitter pill to swallow. Especially when all your playtime is being taken from you by another crew. You didn't lose much, I wouldn't fret letting it go. A single voyage that can be banged out in 15 mins when you know what you are doing is not worth being camped for an hour.

I don't know if it is a legit question to do since I've don't have played this game. But this has an actual story mode?

There are Tall Tales in Sea of Thieves. So far there are two Tall Tale storylines.

Shores of Gold consists of nine chapters.

The next Tall Tale storyline consists of two chapters and introduced Flameheart and the Ghost Fleets into the game world.

I forgot to mention the Maiden Voyage, which is also a Tall Tale and and introductory level. You find it at the main menu.

Pro Tip: Get the gold key in the pond on top of the mountain with the shipwreck and then open up the secret hold in the shipwreck for tons of gold and doubloons.

Gold and Glory weekends are a great time to play. The double XP and especially the double gold is great. Some of the Pirate Legend Dark Adventurer ship set items cost 8.5 million gold. 🤪

Sea of Thieves is 50% off this weekend in the Microsoft Store.

I'm 50 with Merchants, 45 with Souls, and 42 with Gold. So almost there.

Good job! Yeah, the process between 40 and 50 can be a tough grind....especially Order of Souls I found. Couldn’t they throw in a few more lucrative Villanous Skulls? Add to that the fact I probably did 90% of my journey to Pirate Legend as a solo player.

Gotta admit, I seem to get more respect - and less hassling - out on the waves when I’m flying my Legendary gear. Now I’m working on some Athena’s Fortune stuff. Talk about a slow grind!
