Resident Evil Village first PC footage with RTX on an RX 6700 XT

During the third episode of “Where Gaming Begins”, AMD announced that Resident Evil Village will feature Ray Tracing and FidelityFX on PC. In addition, the red team revealed the first PC gameplay footage, showing some ray-traced scenes from it.
Although AMD did not reveal any additional details, we can see that Capcom will be using Ray Tracing in order to enhance the game’s reflections and lighting.

Now, since this will be an AMD-powered game, we can safely assume that it won’t support DLSS 2.0.
That’s unfortunate as DLSS can significantly improve performance without reducing the overall image quality of a game.

Enjoy (the PC footage starts at 9:42)!

If a mod can change the RTX with Ray Tracing in the title, as RTX is by Nvidia

What if it performs great even without it? I don't get some of you people, do you even play games or are you satisfied just booting them up to count frames?

Because let's say a RTX 2060 can do 60 FPS with a mix between medium/high in 2K. Enable the DLSS 2.0 and boom you get more FPS, allowing you to crank those settings up and still maintain a stable 60 FPS.
I don't get some of you people, do you think the way you see things is the only one in this world ?

I didn't say that, I'm sure there are many ways to enjoy gaming. Some people count frames, others bash consoles with hammers and I'm sure there's a group that puts discs up their bum. You can certainly do what you like, I merely said I don't personally get it.

So what's the point of your first reply ?
DLSS is good, very good and it's useful for mid-range configs. In fact when it's well implemented it's should be activated on all Nvidia card's imo.

More frames are always a win.

Going by past issues with the RE engine I highly doubt it will run great especially now that it has ray tracing.
To run RT at this point you basically have to run an AI upscaler to get decent frames. I'm used to 120fps+, 60 fps feels sluggish and 30 is a slideshow.

No DLSS is disappointing but definitely not a deal breaker. Even if it didn't support ray tracing it wouldn't change my excitement level much at all. Just hyped about this game overall.

I recently upgraded to a pretty high range rig and I have to say DLSS is more impactful than I originally thought. Granted, I've only tested it with 2 games (Cyberpunk and Death Stranding) it's definitely impressive. I turned if off in cyberpunk with the same settings (maxed out at 1440p) and saw some frame drops that I never noticed with DLSS. Pretty awesome tech.

RE Engine with RT is a match made in heaven. This game is gonna be gorgeous. Can't wait to see how it looks and performs at launch on XsX/PS5 and PC.

RT without DLSS is pretty expensive. Especially curious to see how it performs on a card like the 6700 XT in particular

DLSS 2.0 or GTFO tho

Will keep the raytraced lighting. The raytraced reflections will either be off or at its lowest setting. Hopefully they give us settings for the RT reflections like Battlefield.

RT in console version of RE8 and DMC has horrible quality, I hope they offer options for that...

Watch them do some stupid shit and force us to use full resolution reflections on PC like Remedy forced us in Control.

Based on the image they're not full res - far from it and this is what I'm worried about, forced low quality reflections. Just add more options devs :messenger_heart: At least on PC there will be mods/ini fixes

This game shouldn't be too hard to run. Would imagine it will be 1080p 60fps with dips on the PRO/1X if its targeting 4K 60 on the PS5/SX

Well I guess there is no need to wait for my new PC build to play this game.

EDIT: Maybe I just play it on PS5?

You jest, but I remember a time. PC guys hated reconstruction techniques, they hated checkerboarding, they raised their cheeks when these puny consoles used it.....Then came the era of resolution scaling, then Nvidia coined DLSS, ai reconstruction and they finally admit that framerate is more important than taking the prettiest screenshots at 8k 5 fps.....
DLSS 2.0>>DLSS 1.0>>>>>>>> CB resolution. Framerate has always been king, and will forever be king, but why not have both image quality and framerate?

Agreed, framerate with great IQ is always ideal.....getting ways to push more performance at little impact to IQ is always welcomed....I shun at the hypocrisy from folk who are only appreciating these techniques now, because devs are trying to push visuals in new paths, so they need to come with some way to mitigate the performance loss. Consoles always tried to push visuals and gaming, but you could not hear the end of it that the console was sub 1080p at 30fps......

Yet, it's crazy, even with DLSS, there are games which are not touching 4K DLSS at 60fps.....So DLSS may be good but still limited in many ways and it's picture is not perfect. The case by case tinkering that devs have to do for DLSS is in itself a major hindrance....No one has to specifically program me running AC Valhalla at 4k native, that's a major advantage to native and just as likely some impressive reconstruction technique will come where it won't be so limited.

Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

What we hate is the blur that come with those reconstruction technique. You can still see a lot of comment about the old version of DLSS saying that it's bad.
In fact I didn't liked the DLSS 1.0 either because of the blur.

But now, DLSS has been updated and the image quality is REALLY good, sometimes even better than native.
And I don't know what you are talking about, framerate has always been important for PC players otherwise we would play on console in 'glorious cinematic' 30 FPS.

Finally admit framerate is more important? Do you live in bizarro world? Framerate was alwayS king in PC-land, it's the fucking reason people game on PC.

Console gamers are now finally demanding 60fps on PS5/XSX.

DLSS looks better than checkerboarding tho... in fact it looks better than native res + TAA or native res without AA. and since MSAA is not a real option anymore in modern games, DLSS is literally the best way to play games

so not really comparable. Checkerboarding looks worse than native every time it is used. DLSS2.0 in quality mode usually looks better than native
