According to our trusted inside source – the same one that has provided us with multiple confirmed exclusive scoops that have included the reveal that Bruce Wayne’s parents will be evil in Robert Pattinson’s The BatmanDemon’s Souls is being developed into a major movie project over at Sony.
It sounds like Sony knows that this has the potential to be a big intellectual property for them and that the movie will be a sizable production. Considering the popularity of the video game series, they seem to know that they have something that could become a real franchise for them if they play their cards right.

What is interesting about the news we’ve gotten is that we are hearing it is Demon’s Souls that is being developed into a movie.
The spiritual successor to the first game, Dark Souls, has gotten two sequels and is certainly more popular than the original game.

The two titles are not connected as far as their fictional universes are concerned, so we wonder if this film project is going to be directly pulling from the lore of Demon’s Souls as opposed to anything from Dark Souls. Or, is the Demon’s Souls name going to be used but the film will adapt material from both games?
It is unclear at this time what the exact plan is when it comes to the story and how Sony is going to handle any crossover between the two games and their mythologies.
Suffice to say, we are specifically hearing that Demon’s Souls is the game that is getting developed into a movie.

Riiight. How many movies based on games have we heard that they're making lol. I mean dang, there was talk about a bioshock movie, of all things.

It's one of these weird things that just keeps persisting. Talk of a game movie, then cancel. Why bother?

This time is supposed to be different. Playstation is involved in these projects. Let's see how it pans out.

If you really want to see a Demon's Souls movie just watch Moonlight Butterfly's excellent editing work of the original game:

SCE does not exist, is not SIE that is investing in TV and movies, is Sony Pictures. They are just using existing SIE IPs.

Could be cool. Will be interesting to see how they incorporate things. What i think is interesting is they feel they can turn this into more, which may mean a sequel to the game

If I could find a decent amount of fun in Monster Hunter, then anything is possible. Personally I'd love to have seen Bloodborne have a go at a movie.

Well if there's ever been one where "the story is better in the game" won't hold up, this is it. Since the lore is paper thin INCREDIBLEY DEEP... when you piece together hundreds of snippets, the movie will definitely be more coherent.

Just recently, I read the Dark Souls graphic novels, and they are among some of the worst written pieces of garbage my eyes have seen.

Abandon all hope.

If the story is about the events before the game, I think it could be a great movie. But they must work with From Software, otherwise it will be too hollywoodesque - soulless.

I mean, it would be great if a movie could capture the amazing atmosphere and the action could be good.

I highly, highly doubt that whoever makes this movie will be able to do it though.
I don't even know how a movie adaption could look like. The level and bossrush nature of it doesn't seem made for a movie.
