Diablo 2 Resurrected Officially Revealed

Been watching people play this: there are some big issues (loading times, FPS) that will need to get polished up, and a ton of minor inconsistencies between the original and the new version that were unintended. Those need tweaks. There are also a few UI "improvements" which they didn't think through entirely and may need to undo.

But apart from that, goddamn does it look fun.

I kinda miss the dodge roll but I guess D2 hardcore fans would've freaked out if it would've been included

The dodge roll was invented for consoles because you get inferior movement with a pad compared to m/kb and they implemented that as a crutch to help you if you play it on consoles with a gamepad. It doesnt have a purpose with m/kb and it wasnt a thing in Diablo 2.

Seriously. The skill bar has been updated for controller use but not pc, still being stuck in 2000?

This has been covered before. It's the original game with a new presentation layer. It's not a new game. They are, literally, running the old game in the background ('minimised' essentially) while running a new visual layer on top of it. They aren't recoding squat. They can make visual changes, and even change values in the various internal databases, but they aren't going to recode the entire way skills are accessed. The source code is older than most of the people that are going to play the game, for God's sakes.

Thats the unfortunate side effect of todays perceived audience. Game plays ridiculously with a pad. You're not even playing almost. The game has an area where autoaim is activated for everything and as soon as enemies enter that radius the game just jumps the autoaim target. You just spam attack and spells and sword hits just go by themselves where the autoaim sends them. Fucking consoles and these devs that wanted to release it on consoles and put pads on pc. There isnt dodge because that would literally mean redesigning and rebalancing the entire game from scratch. You cant just put mechanics and features into a game by ear

Did you even see the screenshot?

If it's possible to code it for a controller, then why not the keyboard? Please tell me so I can understand the difference. AFAIK the original game wasn't coded for controller either.

I can rig a screenshot showing Kratos riding Yoshi in Act 3. Doesn't mean squat.

What don't you get about the controller support? Press joystick left. Simulate mouse click on left side of screen. Joystick wrappers have existed for years now. It's just turning your controller inputs into the mouse equivalents, and only on a basic level. I think you're imagining console D3 controls. It's not nearly that advanced.

First I was excited, but these latest gameplay video's look a little disappointing graphically if you compare them to D3.

Why are you so offensive? Does it hurt you in any way if the feature would come?

Huh? Loading times and FPS issues? Everything I've watched the loading times were essentially instant and the fps was buttery smooth.

I put so much time into this game 20 years ago. I have so many great memories.

This remaster is a dream come true. Gonna be absolutely bonkers on my 75" x900h and 5.2 system on ps5. My most anticipated game of the year.

Sorry if I come off as offensive? The feature isn't coming. It would be great but it would require black magic.

This is false, there's been many fundamental changes to PoE's visuals including a wicked good GI system. In fact a lot of the visual upgrades for PoE 2 are added to the base game beforehand, they're not just waiting for PoE 2 in order to make upgrades.

see one dev's additions here: https://www.youtube.com/c/АлександрСанников/videos
Ah. I haven't played PoE in like, a year. It wasn't a looker back then.

They've already reached out to streamers saying they're looking into both issues. Basically running the game on a non-SSD gets you 10 to 15 second loading times...for a single floor of a dungeon, for example. On an SSD it's fine. The fps issues come from weird stuff, like one streamer with a 1080 had his frames drop to the low 20s everytime the water outside the rogue encampment was on the screen. This was reproducable by other people.

Havent played D2 since the early 2000s.

Watching the remake videos, did the characters sprint that fast back then? They're like fucking track & field stars in the vids.

I think the camera in zoomed out mode is too far away and in zoomed in mode it's too close.

This game needs a zoom that's right in the middle of "zoomed out" and "zoomed in".

I also think that the og sprites actually look better and that the original diablo 2 played on a CRT monitor without any resolution mods still looks best - even better than the remaster.

It's definitely not buttery smooth, watch the video posted a few comments above, he's dropping into the 30s on a 2070.

At 4K... sure.

He's mostly in the 50s too.. which is pretty good for the 2070 imo, considering how much action can be going on on-screen, and how nice the game looks visually.
