Gamesindusty.biz: Biggest announced Xbox exclusives are years away

The proper flow will come in 2022. The only thing that concerns me is that Halo Infinite is the 2021 first party exclusive schedule so far for Xbox, a game that should have have released in 2020. Had it released in 2020 as originally envisaged this year would be a dud completely. Remember that Bethesda weren't official until this March. It really shows that Phil was right to get a big heavy hitter in Bethesda. I wonder should Xbox have eaten the year v Sony and hit them hard late 2021 with a more powerful console and cheaper console.

If you seriously think Xbox took a beating for 8 straight years....I dont know what to even say....lol

Now its like Game Pass and their BC initiative didnt happen.... cheapest next gen console...acquisitions...

C'mon.
They did though? They lost last gen and lost it badly.

2022 is when nextgen is really gonna start as Phil and "we believe in generations" had said, by the end of 2022 im hoping the XSX expansion cards will be a decent price or easily hackable because imma have a backlog deathly long.

So if Everwild and Hellblade 2 are 2022.
Fable and Forza Motorsport are 2023.
Im all good.

As long as its all 4 games by Q4 2023.
My XGPU will lapse then i gotta dummy account more if the "trick" is locked out.

What do you mean?

I always found the single player from 343 to be a bit lacking. And hopefully it's a much better game than what was initially shown. I really miss the days when the single player was extremely solid. Not just a combination of excellent gameplay and visuals but a great story to go along with it. But maybe I'm just more of a fan of Bungie Halos than 343s.

Even if MS is a triple trillion-dollar company, they don't have any guarantees to produce AAA bangers every time or that some projects get canceled; they cannot speed the production of these so-called AAAA games.

Some people act like PlayStation is falling apart that Jim Ryan is "ruining their childhood" and the Xbox plan for "world domination" is in the bag, and a "small" company like Sony can't compete at all. Well, Making games is hard, making AAA is even harder, making AAA goty contender game of the generation is a friking miracle.

"Content is king" that's why Netflix spends something like 14 billion on licenses and original productions.

In these last few weeks, Xbox had a pretty good PR run, their momentum is getting stronger...what would happen if Halo Infinite gets delayed again? or comes out with network issues or the campaign just sucks?...you can have hundreds of smaller games or 7 out of 10 games, right? You still need the prestige titles, the blockbusters, the generation-defining games that make your service/platform something special.

In other words: For Xbox is not getting easier, all the contrary, right now the real test is getting serious; they have to produce great content, new IPs (people have been waiting for it for a long time).

Who is surprised? Xbox hasn’t delivered on a good first party game since sea of thieves. They always talk but never deliver. My series x is collecting dust.. They should have had their ducks in a row years ago and at least had Fable this year.
Their "ducks in a row" for them is Game Pass. Play that.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
They did though? They lost last gen and lost it badly.

But they didnt take a beating overall because they sold less consoles.

Look how evangelized Game Pass and their BC was and is. Both of those started last gen.

Hell, at one point ppl claimed Sony didnt do cross play at all because when MS finally did it they just took it a step further.

Look at the reception to MLB The Show being on Game Pass day one. Look at Outriders comparisons being on Game Pass day one vs PS5.

Console sales, yeah they took a beating, everything else, not so much.

No shit. Microsoft needed to make a splash and their hand was tied to announce early. I would be shocked to see Fable hit in 2023. To me that would be rushed.

No they took a complete beating last gen. Spin it however you want but it was murder.
They are looking very strong for this gen though.

Nice try, same usual response from the typical warrior. I bought Hellblade day one my Ps4 but nice try.

Its just hilariously entertaining seeing how much the game was praised at launch to it becoming "boring" and "subpar" once it went on Xbox.

Again rambling about Jimmy. Theres threads for that.
Dude I don’t even have hellblade! I never mentioned buying or owning it nor playing it!

there was hardly any talk of the first game like there is for its sequel that was only in trailer form when they announced it exclusive for Xbox as they were acquired!

so a graphical CG trailer got all the Xbox players all giddy inside about a game they hardly praised or cared about to begin with but “hey, let’s put that in a win column for MS” since they bought them!

but anyways, since you missed my point I won’t bother, just move on

I mean. In case of Perfect Dark there is no doubt that game is 2023 at the earliest. But Everwild and Fable? Both of those games are in development for 4-5 years and i fully expect Everwild to be released in 2022 (maybe 2023 because of COVID delays).

So, XGS and Bethesda in my opinion (excluding XGS publishing)

Halo Infinite - 2021

Psychonauts 2 - 2021

Forza Horizon 5 - 2021/2022

Starfield - 2021/2022

Everwild - 2022

Wolfenstein 3 - 2022

Arkane Austin game - 2022

Deathloop (after one year PS5 exclusivity) - 2022

Hellblade II - 2022

Avowed - 2022/2023

Fable - 2023

GhostWire Tokyo (after one year PS5 exclusivity) - 2023

New Zenimax Online game - 2023

Forza Motorsport - 2023

Compulsion new IP - 2023

Perfect Dark - 2023/2024

Gears 6 - 2023/2024

State of Decay 3 - 2024

inXile new IP - 2024

New id Software game - 2024

Indiana Jones - 2024

New game from Roundhouse Studios - 2024

The Outer Worlds II - 2024

TES VI - 2025

And that's damn strong flow of new games if you ask me. And of course i forgot things like that new small game from Obsidian (Project Missiouri), Project Mara, new game from Double Fine etc etcI

If this is even remotely close to the release schedule of Xbox 1st party, i think they are alright!

Some of these games were in development for 4 years (Everwild started development in 2017), I really doubt it is that far away.
The developers of Everwild said they dont even know what the game is about the last time they showed the game.
I guess they just spend the last 4 years copying Zeldas graphics and called it a day.

Actually, this is exactly what they said in the article you posted:

“Part of the reason we haven’t talked a lot about Everwild is because we’re still feeling a lot of these things out. We’re still playing around with gameplay ideas."

Doesn't seem at all similar to:

"we don't have an idea what the game is about"

“we dont have an idea what the game is about” you dont see things 90% empty, you be seeing things 10% full.

Collecting dust...just use the fan at the top for a few seconds to blow it all out? 🤔

Read and note the wording. This isn't highest revenue from game sales.

This is:
"Improving Competence in GaaS revenue"
"Highest paying user spend* of any sports title on the US store"
"*Comparison in PlayStation Store 6 weeks after launch"

If this was game sales why 6 weeks after game launch? Launch would create much more revenue. Why improved competence in GaaS? What's so GaaS about game sales. Why "highest paying user spend" instead of "highest revenue sports game"?

I mean it's great that the game isn't grindy and that's not my intention but this is referring to high MTX revenue and for MLB and MS that was what they want from offering it on gamepass as it far outweighed game sales on their platform.

Indeed. It’s an exclusive - so yes it generates more mtx (in the US in 2019) than the bigger footprint games because 100% of mtx transactions are through Sony.

MLB the Show is not some ftp there to generate mtx. It’s simply not that kind of game.

Halo is coming this year. Starfield may also. Those are two games bigger then the three mentioned in the OP.

Yeah for mass audiences, but these aren't the games that'll make core forums buy a SX.

I'd buy a Series X faster for a Alan Wake Remake or a Fable Reboot that a shitty Halo game that will be crushed by Battlefield 6, Fortnite, Warzone, next Call of Duty & Apex later in the year. Will be probably forgotten within 3 months.

Halo is done, 343 doesn't get it & neither did Bungie since Reach online was hot garbage, 9 maps like seriously? DMR bloom was also a horrible decision.

Look i was a Halo head & I left, the ship has sailed long ago.

Halo is going to awesome
Forza Horizon is rumored for this year
We'll get a clearer picture at E3. For now they just need to make more consoles because you can't get them anywhere.

Also why are for hyping Everwild like it's going to be some first party AAA mega smash? It will prob be like SOT - weaker at first and then really great as more content drops.

I don't expect proper next-gen games in the first 18 months of a console so its not surprising, Sony has delayed and will probably delay more of its proper next-gen titles into 2022 and beyond (I think Pragmata is 2024 now lol) and I'm fine with it as long as it makes them better/as good as they could be.

So this isn't a bad look for Xbox because its par for the course, they do have some nice smaller titles coming I'm interested in so that will keep me going (on PC) until the proper fancy stuff arrives, exact same as PS5 really, except that does have some fancy stuff now, its just not full next-gen games.

Watch Phil Spencer hype this years Xbox E3 show as the best ever like he does so every year and then shows nothing and a bunch of multiplatform games. Like clockwork :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Reminds me of this gem of a photo:

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
People expect exclusives within minutes only to be disappointed they’ll be pumped out over the course of 10 years max.

Could this be the reason that we're seeing a lot of articles taking aim at Sony's business practices and direction WRT sinple-player exclusives?

If these delays are true, can Microsoft really take this hit to PR? Phil Spencers "great games coming soon" meme is now at Sooony levels, and could be at Valve-time levels if these delays continue to happen.

It's why i've stuck with the X1X, There isn't need to pick up an XSX for the time being as the X1X is still more than competent to play the games that have released and will release for the next 12-18 months. By that time there will be a revised XSX, so i'll just pick one of them up.

I think both companies should have delayed the launch of consoles until later this year.
There hasn't been a console that launches with its full library day one. I can never really understand how people get so laser focused and so quick to make judgements on a console's library just when its launched. The first year is never the year that most big games come out anyway. So to say they should have delayed the consoles makes no sense to me. You need to get the consoles out before you can plan out its content releases. Sony had a good variety of games to launch with (Demons, Sackboy, Spider, Astro) and Microsoft also launched The Medium pretty early on. They both are backwards compatible with the previous gen and MS goes even further than last gen and again there are third party games as well.

Most people who get these consoles at launch are enthusiasts anyway. We would have got both systems even if they launched with nothing.

Man... thanks for a good laugh 😂.

Well, I hope what I said is true and you are false. Even if it is 90% against 10%.

It's going to be huge. It sounds like you're going to be a salty fuck this holiday when it releases on XBOX and PC and will have a FTP multiplayer. Get used to seeing it a lot and heading about it a lot.
I’m not salty at all. I’ve never enjoyed Halo so it means nothing to me. But let’s not pretend Halo is still relevant. It hasn’t been for a long time.

The last game sold over 5 million+
MCC is a Steam top seller today
There is a TV show coming out
We haven't had a new Halo in 6 years
It's going to be Huge. First Halo to drop day and date on PC as well.

If that's true wtf have they been doing for the last 5 years?

Not every studio is up to the task of delivering. Look at Sony's Japan Studio: despite all the funding they haven't made a single blockbuster.

If it was as easy as just throwing money at the problem...

This is why it so silly to brag about a service basically giving away games for free basically yo until the point you release your own after so long of a wait it ends up backfiring!

I don’t get the hellblade love! Where were y’all at when the first one released? Maybe that studio would have stayed independent if that game was that loved then as you claim it to be now over a trailer for the sequel!

but all the bad news of the world is Sony and Jim Ryan cub of reasons yet Sony will have the most games released this year between the two that will stick around until the next batch!

but I guess you can take your time developing a game when it’s already paid for eh?

enjoy gamepass while you can and hope there’s a real solution soon as my brother is not a happy camper with his Xbox systems atm
That is why they are paying for day one releases... Because they know that it will still be a while before their 1st party can pick up the slack.....

I'm still sort of puzzled at fact MS bigger exclusives are not closer. Damn near all last gen they seemed as if they were winding down support for the XBox or at least saving their next big hitters like Forza and Halo for the launch of the XSX, so even with COVID-19 hitting you would think those games would be more than ready but they were not. Moreover, there were not many surprises and games like Fable seemed like such last minute announcements.. You would think a game like that would have been in development for years before the XBX showcase. I wonder if something internal happened and those rumors of them potentially selling off the XBX division was true, because they then went all in and started buying studios left and right to make up for the lack of games.

Add one year of delay to the dates you expect for most games due to corona of courses. I am not even surprise if halo does not make it, but i am sure MS will make sure to get it out this year.

Doesn't he have a name or did you already know that nobody would know him? To be honest, never heard of that site either.

It is one the biggest UK game industry site... they give the UK sales chart every week too.

It is the same company as Eurogamer or VG247 but more focused on developers.

Of course it shows Phil had zero budget till 2018. How could Fable, Avowed, perfect dark,, Brian fargo's new game ect go into production before they either purchased or formed the studios. So 2018 plus 4-5 year was always the time line for the games to start flowing. You know when the new studios were purchased and formed.
