I assume that it will use a semi open world like in the past Tales games. I am fine with that.

Stoked about Graces type battle system.

A little disappointed that Sakaruba is favored over Go Shiina.

Sakuraba is a fantastic composer when he delivers. But I think he ended up writing on auto-pilot with the yearly games.

His work on Baten Kaitos is legendary.

Also, glad they didn't go open world.

Yeah but that was 15 years ago. He is old and tired now. Meanwhile Go Shiina knocked it out of the park with zestiria.

I found it forgettable. Age has nothing to do with it. John Williams is still great. I'm not gonna presume to know anything about how tired he is.

but as you said, it was long ago since he made something memorable.
He's made more than that, but that's the one that shines birghtest for me. To me he's made farily mediocre soundtracks sprinkled with a few gems here and there. My hope this time, is that less pressure to make a lot of music fast will have given him time to really create something great. It's not like he hasn't done anything in the last years, but churning out music for the same series year after year, I'd imagine takes a toll on creativity.

We'll see. It might turn out bland, or maybe he strikes gold again. Time will tell. But just because it's been a good while since his last masterpiece doesn't mean he can't make one again.
