Some people should really quit gaming and try something else.

surrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

What games are these? Give us a list =)
Why are you so butthurt dude?

Finish my post.. I mostly play on PC.. I generally don't play heavily story driven games..many don't even have cutscenes, those that do, they are generally skippable.. and they don't have long segments where you can only walk and talk that aren't skippable. That's the "gameplay story" segements I was talking about. Like in Days Gone, my console game of last gen.. where you occasionally go on a date with your obnoxious wife, and walk around for 10 minutes talking. Or Ghosts of Tsushima, where you can't skip a single cutscene (at least in DG you can, but I actually like a lot of those), and one of the most common mission types is to have you again.. walk (or kinda run) and talk for many minutes in a row.. exciting stuff.

Right now on PC I'm trading time between They are BIllions, Grim Dawn, and Wolcen. I also play VR games. Those games have a skippable cut scene like once every 50 hours of play lol

I think you missed my point.. the reason I wish Sony wouldn't do those things.. is I think they also have great gameplay.. are fun games in general. Most story driven games aren't fun to me at all... Sony manages to make fun games that for me get drug down a bit..

God forbid I wish they'd do less of those things. Literally wouldn't effect anyone else if they just let you skip cutscenes / walk/talking sections, and you guys could all enjoy them.

Which is my point. I wish they would put more budget into games like Knack and Hot Shots Golf.

nah bud. The sales of those games show the budget they have is completely fine. The market doesn't exist on PS for those games to move the numbers to even argue a higher budget and your post are just arguing about what you think is the same from one game to another.

It states nothing about budget

Why the market doesn't exist on PS for those games to not be half assed mailed in efforts?

^ FORCED Dialogue? WOW, when will they get it together /s

Someone who played Grim Dawn stated such " Large geographically, boring, the Undercity is the most irritating segment of all of Grim Dawn ". But how? You don't play "boring segment" type games doe?

Sir....even the games you listed, have the shit you just complained about..... You basically can't list much if any games that fit the thing you are even looking for.

Can you.. read?

I'm talking about forced "story" segments like.. what I described, that are not featured in any of the games listed.

I don't care that other people find the games I like boring; some people don't find going on dates with your wife in Days Gone boring.. I do... none of the games I play outside of Sony's games, feature those types of forced story segments where they remove all of the gameplay features and have you walking/talking for minutes at a time.. I normally don't put up with that shit.. I laughed when Gears of War was praised for instance many years ago.

Really sad stuff man lol, get a grip.

These are terrible news actually.

25 titles is a really low number for both Sony owned studios and collabs - and it gets much worse when you take into account that they have to support PSVR2 as well.

Asobi (1)
Bend (1)
Guerrilla (2)
Insomniac (3)
London (1)
Media Molecule (1)
Naughty Dog (3)
PixelOpus (1)
Polyphony (1)
San Diego (1)
Santa Monica (2)
Sucker Punch (1)

TOTAL 18, and that only leaves room for 7 collabs with external studios, of which we already know the following:

Firewalk (1)
Haven (1)

TOTAL 20, only five potential partnerships remain and this is when shit hits the fan, as there are way more than five studios speculated/rumored to be working on Sony titles atm:

Unknown #1 (1)
Unknown #2 (1)
Unknown #3 (1)
Arrowhead (1)
Bluepoint (1)
Firesprite (1)
From Software (1)
Housemarque (1)
Kojima Productions (1)
Remedy (1)
Supermassive (2)

Yes, they most definitely have. Funny the contrast between topics, when similar is announced for Xbox, we get "I wanna see the receipts!" or "This is nothing but list wars", "Show me the games". I think it's fair to say that both sides can be excited without constantly shitting on each other. The days of HaloGearsForza are behind us.

I can't wait to see what Sony has in store, almost 1/2 of 25, so we're looking at at least 11-12 new IPs, that's a lot of goodness :messenger_beaming:

Yeah I think it would be best for the games industry if all consoles do well. EVERYONE'S GETTING GAMES

nah, you are looking for something that literally doesn't even apply to the games you listed. So I'd call "Forced Dialogue" part of a story segment. You are asking for something that I do not believe can be ever addressed as it literally is a subjective thing, as in "some people don't find" some things boring, while others do =)

Really sad stuff man....

Perrott Perrott They mean 25 games in development, they don't mean they'll just have 25 games the whole generation..... That is what is currently being made, not ONLY GOING to be made for the whole PS5 life cycle as its not as if Sucker Punch was working on Ghost at the start of the PS4 generation or Insomniac was working on Spiderman at the start of the generation or anything weird like that. They will continue to develop games after those 25 come out as I've never heard them have a list of games for the whole generation start development at the very start of the generation and nothing start during the generation or something.

Good to see production ramping up but it's going to be blue murder when the likes of bf6, horizon 2, god of war 2 and gran Turismo 7 get release dates. Let's just hope the next gta and uncharted isn't announced anytime soon.

edit: I also play Bethesda RPGs.. when you have a mission where you have other characters walking between places.. you don't even have to follow them.. and if you do, your guns aren't hidden from you, and you might even get into a fight with them.

I have been playing Fenyx Rising recently too.. also doesn't have unskipable cut scenes, despite being very similar in structure to Sony games.. and no forced walking/talking sections.

Almost like it isn't a requirement even for story driven games.

I know that, that's why I only talked about titles supposed to be actively in development at this very moment and even then we still got a disparity between Hermen's statements and, well, actual reliable rumors and information that's out there.

I mean, 90% of your whole argument is "get a grip".

The games you listed have forced dialogue, unskippable scenes and any area can be argued boring based on any user. If even the games you listed have such things, do you not see just how hard it really is to ask a publisher of this when the games you even listed have such things? Sounds like its much easier to just say "get a grip" then to really, really address that point.

Its why I even stated to list what games you are talking about because its very easy to find anything someone considers a boring forced segment or a cut scene that can't be skipped etc. Your point starts to fall apart when you have trouble even finding games to fit that...

Heh. Given Sony's history of cancelling in-production titles (cancelling Stig Asmussen's new IP because it was too much like Destiny, whom they had deals with at the time) I think this is a situation where we don't count the chickens before they're hatched.

In any case, good on them for putting time into new IPs, though. Hopefully we get some new gameplay stuff; cinematic third person action adventure games with open world RPG elements and lots of cut scenes have run their course. Let's see what else they can do!

Stig's new IP was cancelled after being stuck in preproduction for more than three years, with at least three concept reboots along the way. That game was going nowhere.

Because if we go by Hermen's statements, there would be between 5 and 10 less games in development than it was expected.
There could be 100 more than expected too.

We don't even know what he told the reporter.. could have given him a real number and then asked for the reporter to obfuscate it.

It wasn't even a quote. A vague "more than 25" written by the author of the article itself.

edit: And yeah, where are you getting that anyone expected 30-35?

No.. they don't.

Good lord dude lol

I greatly disagree based on the links provided. They factually have those.

Look, I simply believe the thing you are asking for is a bit much if even the games you like can literally be shown to have them or be perceived as "boring". If a developer feels they need a scene to be unskippable or a Dialogue that can't be skipped, they have their reasons or if a segment can be seen as boring by some gamers, it can't be helped, but we don't have much modern AAA games where we really can say none of that 100% exist in.

I mean...you have to see the thing you are asking for is a but unrealistic if even the games you are listing can be picked apart and found to have many of the very things you just stated Sony should stop doing....

But the games listed do not, in fact, have unskippable cut scenes.. I know, because I'm playing them. Nor do they have segments where they remove all of your weapons and control mechanics and force you to walk and talk. Your bizarre attempt to prove me wrong because some reviews called the games boring.. is.. well.. bizarre.

Sony could easily address these things. by making their cut scenes and forced dialog sections skipable. Or in some cases, having better damn game design lol.. like sure, make me walk and talk for a while.. but let me play the game. How fun would it be if in the middle of walking for 5 minutes talking in Ghosts of Tsushima you actually had.. enemies who could attack? Much more fun to me.

OR just let me hit X and skip it and have me warp to the mission, because you literally can't move outside a small range anyways, and they disable all the gameplay.. there is literally no reason other than forcing dialog.

If they don't want to make those changes for "artistic" reasons.. well that's their business. And it's my business to keep complaining about it.. and your business to keep weirdly arguing..

There's some things I'd like changed about Wolcen, and Grim Dawn too... but they don't have unskippable cut scenes oe forced dialog sequences. Is there dialog? Sure.. pops up on the screen and you can click past it, or sit and read it or listen to it if you want. Which is TBH.. how most games work, and even some Sony games.

I'm asking where you're getting between 30 - 35 from and why it's even an issue
I listed a number of potential partners who were expected to be working with Sony on PS5 games based on reliable rumors, talking to people, job listings, interviews, Sony XDEV pushing job openings at those studios, etc.

And why it's an issue? Because if it was expected that Sony would be partnering with A, B, C , D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and L and only ends up partnering with A, C, F and G, then that constitutes an issue in the same vein as if Insomniac just came and said "we *literally* had the entire studio working on Rift Apart, Spider-Man 2 is not even in concept phase".

Looking forward to what these are?

Id like some JRPG’s, WRPG, 1st person shooter, multiplayer games and Some new stuff.

Im guessing these aren‘t including 3rd party exclusives either like Final Fantasy 16

I never claimed it was a genre. What the fuck is Guilty Strive and how does Guilty Gear fit into the conversation of Sony first party offerings? And how long has it been since we had Killzone?

I don't feel like having this conversation. If you feel their offering is diverse enough, good for you but I respectfully disagree and I'll keep hoping they will approach it more creatively than they did in recent years.

Grant Turismo 7 does work. Returnal is still a third person action adventure title.

In 5 years Sony released
Dreams - a game engine
Concrete Genie - an artsy indie game
Spiderman - Superhero open world game
God of War - a melee action game with RPG elements
Gran Turismo Sport - a sim racing game
Astrobot - a cutesy platformer
Ghost of Tsushima - open world samurai game
Last of Us 2 - A linear zombie action game with stealth elements
MLB - a baseball game
Returnal - A roguelike game
Detroit - a QTE game

Lots of variety their, some games are melee action, some games shooters, some games open world, some games linear etc. But I guess because some games share the same viewpoint and have a cinematic story they are considered the same lol.

The "same" is probably unfair and I can't remember if I used that word and if I did I was mistaken. I guess "similar" is the word I'd use. I feel like a lot of games in this list share more similarities than I wish they would, which is of course how I personally feel about it lol. Just to add to my argument, even the odd ball outlandish stuff feels half assed and sent out to die. They feel like an afterthought.

Every bit of the effort is wasted if they continue with uninteresting feminist influenced main characters. Let's go back to what worked in the 90s and early 2000s.

sounds like a goal post to me.

When you have forced dialogue, you clearly are not in control.

But the games listed do not, in fact, have unskippable cut scenes

https://wolcengame.com/forum/feedba...y-of-life/let-us-skip-the-intro-scene-please/

https://wolcengame.com/forum/feedback-suggestions/quality-of-life/close-all-windowsskip-dialogue/

Sony could easily address these things

The fucking games you like don't even address those things....

If they want that as a thing in their game, they are free to have it. Its not something that needs to be "addressed" as they don't see it as an issue.

by making their cut scenes and forced dialog sections skipable

You already can in many, many of their games....

The Last Of Us 2 you can skip cut scenes
99426984.jpg

You can in God Of War 2018

You can in Spiderman and in Spiderman MM

You can in Knack

Knack04252020-081355.jpg

You can in Uncharted 4 and well as the Lost Legacy

You can in The Last Guardian

You can in Days Gone

In fact, Sucker Punch might be the only Sony developer that I know of that has games where they don't want the cutscenes skipped like Infamous Second Son and Ghost.

I'm sorry bud, its not this hard rule and isn't something forced in all Sony games or something.

You don't want to address the games you listed having those elements even with fucking links that show they clearly have those very same fucking things. You have zero link to even prove otherwise, simply stating "no" or "come on bruhz". So the age old myth of "sony gotz the unskippablez" simply isn't really the case when you actually REALLY FUCKING LOOK at the game they put out, look it up yourself, its not even the majoirty.
