He-Man animated reboots coming to Netflix

This is old news I guess but I didn't see it here anywhere

After rebooting She-Ra with the animated She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Netflix is now rebooting He-Man… again! It appears both shows will remain separate, and that presumption is based on the few details that arrived Wednesday to accompany the announcement.

While Netflix partnered with DreamWorks Animation on She-Ra, the streaming company is joining forces with Mattel Television for a CG-animated He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, with new story lines and character takes.

This isn’t to be confused with Masters of the Universe: Revelation, that animated series from Kevin Smith that Netflix is also working on.

This Kevin Smith project apparently has Mark Hamill signed on to play Skelator

The biggest star to join the cast is no doubt Star Wars‘ Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, who is now on board to voice the titular character’s nemesis, Skeletor. He-Man aka Prince Adam will be played by Chris Wood of Supergirl and The Vampire Diaries, while his love interest and captain of the Royal Guard Teela will be portrayed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s very own Sarah Michelle Gellar. Game of Thrones actors Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) have both joined as well, voicing Evil-Lyn and Man-At-Arms respectively.

Really though, I've just been looking for an excuse to post this image

So for some reason they're making 2 He-man shows? The Kevin Smith show with the awesome voice cast and the guys who made Castlevania and then a weird Dreamworks thing.. Oo

I just hope they don't fuck up the animation. Most of the animated series Netflix does the art style sucks.

if you want a laugh, give the original cartoon a rewatch. it's super homo erotic. the original Ambiguously Gay Duo.

No it wasn't. At the time kids didn't think that, teenagers didn't think it, and neither did adults.

It wasnt until many years later when the internet gave birth to the know it all dipshit douche nozzle that has the uncanny ability to waste their lives looking for meaning in absolutely nothing at all to point out mundane and utterly useless social commentaries about things where they have no place did he man become homo erotic.

I was a huge MotU fan as a kid, got my first Masters toy in 1983. And I only knew the mini comics that came with the figurines...

And those looked like this:

I didn't watch the animated series until around 1987, but when I saw it with some friends, who got his hands on a VHS tape of it back then, we immediately made jokes about HOW INCREDIBLY GAY it looked.

Before, MotU was some manly muscular barbarians riding on tigers fighting with war axes in barren plains over some mystical castle to gain control over some weird power to control the universe.

In the filmation series, He-Man was a prince dressed in pink with a secret identity and his funny little floating pink wizard buddy doing shit.

Sorry, but literally everybody I knew said that it looked super gay.
I was almost ashamed to confess that I played with MotU toys when I was younger when the filmation series was shown in normal TV after 1988.

Read up more here:

That said, I am looking forward to Kevin Smiths take on the franchise..

Art style looks pretty good.
Thought for a second it might be Studio Mir, but sadly it's the Castlevania animation studio (so nice visuals, low framerate)

First look.

Will it be He-Man or He-Woke.

"I RENOUNCE MY SYSTEMIC POWWEEERRRR!"

There’s a lot of reconciling with secrets, betrayal, trust, acceptance, love and ultimately, loss.”

Something about this line from the article in its phrasing is sounding red alerts in my head.

I took a look at the article and ya that does look good. None of that weird dumbed down She Ra shit.

When I see a franchise I used to be fond of followed by "rebooted by Netflix" afterwards, I can be pretty sure it's going to be diversity quota trash. I wonder what was the tipping point for it becoming this way? After Castlevania season 3, I don't even bother anymore. You know it's going to be cheaply made, low quality animation, fucking the original story out the window garbage.

Bring on the tank top wearing butch women, per usual.

Women in modern day western cartoons are built like men from western cartoons in the 90s.

LOL, all the women have the exact same buff proportions in their arms???

Also, who's the girl next to Orko supposed to be? I don't recall her in the original (if this is a continuation of it)

I'll give it this, that it at least isn't She-Ra art.

If that Evil-Lyn chick on the right can't pull those spikes out of her head and use them as throwing knives I'm gonna be VERY disappointed :p

And I think that is a girl Urko as well. And is that guy in back looking OVER the goggles, or is that some sort of breathing mask? This is shit tier design and that's saying a lot for He-man! Lots and lots of belts, someone has a fetish :p

Granted it's the same show, but jeez all the girls shown in He-Man above literally seem like they have the exact same facial/bone structure going on.

EDIT: For those wondering about the Bottom 3: Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan - Ghislaine Dedolia from Jobless Reincarnation - Maki Oze from Fire Force

Kevin Smith attached to this but he'd kill anyone he could to get a Lucasfilm Star Wars gig. Shocked he didn't cast his daughter in it.

who's voicing Skeletor and how does he compare to the OG, the one and only, Alan Oppenheimer? oh why do I even ask? of course he won't be as good.

It was always super gay. Even before I knew what gay was I knew that Adam was 'something'.

It's by the same animation studio as Castlevania so expect a pretty slideshow.

That's the problem with highly detailed animation sadly. They look decent though. I don't want him to have that stupid haircut though.
