so .. now... the Game looks not as open then the first one - reason? PS4 of course. Exactly the same reason what made Halo having those cutoff islands of some sort. It there to cut of line of sight. Because the old COnsoles cannot handle to much detail in to much distance. ANd if they wqould not have cared for that and did all PS5 could do, Horizon Forbidden West would look worse on PS4 then HZD!

The lighting in general looks flat and iam sure i saw some shadow cascades .. Also foliage is not reacting to aloy. It looks exactly as what it is . a cross gen game.
My sentiments exactly. Where are the sprawling open landscapes they showed last year when Sony believed in generations.

The game looks like a PS4 Pro game with linear levels and obstructed LOS. With that said, the game looks great and fun and I love the world. But it didn't blow my mind.

Maybe there's a 60 fps recording somewhere. I'll look around after dinner. I only saw 30 fps feeds. Doesn't look good in modern gaming where just about every game is 60 fps now and so are preview videos, yet this show was 30 fps.

Going by that pic, nothing special at all. That's got to be the blurriest sky and worst looking clouds in modern gaming.

On the plus side it has nice contrasting colours in that scene with a Battlefield kind of look where it's dark colours and a streak of orange.

Plants and grass seem to have zero effect and physics when she walks on them.

You're trying way too hard. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

You cant develop on ps5 and then port to ps4. Thats ridiculous hard and pointless, this is an enhanced crossgen game they simply increased detail like the foliage density, volumetric lighting, character model poly counts, water tesselation quality, texture quality but the overall logic is a ps4 game in heart.

What? Yes, you can. Of course you can. Do you think Respawn's Titanfall 1 started out as an Xbox 360 game at Bluepoint and then they called up Respawn and said, "Hey, port this up to Xbox One and take credit for making it, please..."?

yeah, only dissapointed thing I've found in this trailer
Game has limited debris too. Watch the robot elephant fight. Tons of crashing rocks and debris. All seems to disappear when it hits the ground.

Might be a PS4 thing limited scope and physics.

I'm sure Halo Infinite will be good too. Not this good but good enough for you.
This isnt a Halo thread.

exactly - thx for that gif. it is clearly visibile that the piece of Jungle shes entering that one "room" is basicly a corridor. Ipredict:
Horizon Forbidden West Expirience will be like that - you enter an detailed Arena , you do your thing. Then theres a couple of options you could choose to leave in other directions no matter what you choose you enter something that is capabale to obscure your view enough so that PS4 does not break down. That thing needs time to load the next "Room"...
It is so obvious. And what about that fucking grapplehook?
In HZD there was no real use for that because you know the World was open. The Fact that they put that shit in speaks for it self. They made the world "clsoer" .. All this small Arenas will have plenty of fucking option to hook on to something.
Personaly i would like to have a grapplehook like this now - i would aim at Jim Ryans fucking Ballsack with it and pull that wrinkled bag towards me.. Ithin that a sound strategy..

Why, exactly, do you want to be near Jim Ryan's ballsack?

I think you are overacting a bit to what is probably essentially a tutorial section.

Of course I wouldn't be shocked if they went a more linear route.. as do some of Sony's most popular games, and I'd be really disappointed too.

But hold your horses mate on the de-balling of Jim Ryan!

No, the Apple TV 4K 60 support only works on the new Apple TV but YouTube supports 4K 60 even in the browser:

I guess it isn’t supported on all devices which could be a reason for holding back on the res and framerate.

here is the options I have on an Ipad Pro
26532453-056-F-4-FF5-9-D71-944-FFD7-FEE0-F.png

Supports 8k 30fps.

I guess what I’m saying is even if it is supported, it doesn’t mean everyone can use it. I think they could have used a format the majority can view.

So, those sprawling open landscapes you're looking for, those are in the first trailer, which this gameplay reveal proved to be no lie as far as the game engine being capable of such graphical quality and visual density and play interactivity.

They're also of course in the opening 5 hours of this same livestream, where they showed nothing but landscapes.

This gameplay bit is a boss battle/story encounter, and the area is built as a more or less enclosed/corridored arena. There's open-world to the game, not just leafy corridors and ocean-swept arenas to the game. You can listen to the developers talk about how the game works at the end of the livestream, there's more to learn about how the larger game works and the variety of the game world.

Yes titanfall started as a xbox 360/ps3 title, because of logic and memory budgets games are always made or designed from a lower base platform and enhanced to a more powerful platform its how it has always worked. You create a game with ps4/xbone capabilities then rnhance on pc and nextgen consoles. Developing from a more powerful platform then porting to a low platform always creates more problems because the whole game is designed with a higher processing budget good example cyberpunk.

If your not impressed by this I wonder what next gen game your playing that you presumably brought back from the future.

This game looks and sounds phenomenal. Even if it is cross gen it looks better than pretty much everything I’ve played so far on next gen systems.

someone wanna post something that looks better?

also.. did someone notice that basicly every area that shows actually some details is actually a "room" of some sorts. It is tailored exactly to not stress PS4 to much... Also in Water it looked okay but viewdistance is like 20 meters. And dont tell me it is realistic. You can have very clear sight in water!
Also - if theres actually a distant shot there is always fog or deep hanging clouds. To obscure of course Terrain. Terrain that does not need to show actual foliage detail if covered up like this.

I fucking new it.
What are you smoking, share.

Nice trailer, it looks a lot like the first one with water improvements, better grass drawn and better melee combat (with a new swimming part).
