Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Next Gen Version available

This game is fresh in my mind, since I've been playing it the past couple of weeks on Xbox One X. I just watched a video of this "Next Gen" enhancement on Xbox Series X.
It looks identical.
I played on a good freesync monitor, so the performance on my One X was generally fluid. Although there were those sudden unexplained stutters that plague every version. I'm sure it's a nicer experience on Series X, solely because of the (near) perfect framerate. But I fail to see any visual differences.
I have posted some screenshots of the game on One X (photomode) in the console screenshot thread the past few days. Someone should post some shots of the Series X (or PS5) version.

Jedi Fallen Order, FFVII Remake, and Ratchet all in the same day.

My GotY in 2019, 2020 and so far R&C is looking like a good shot at 2021, good day, I'm gonna replay SW and FF7 soon I think

It is basically just a hi(er) res. texture pack.
Maybe motion blur is of better quality.

Everything else, even the draw distance is the same.
And yes.... Game is still glitchy as fuck.

I didn't expect to see a major image quality difference. I think getting the improved performance is the big deal. Reducing loading times and if they can remove stutters due to faster io that's a pretty big win.

Faster loading times is also bullshit. Loading times are the same as with last gen version installed on the internal SSD

on which platform? if it now is a native PS5 game for example, that should drastically increase loading speeds on that system, as PS4 games seem to have a limit when it comes to loading speeds that can not exceed the IO speeds of the PS4 Pro (in fact, the Pro loads some games faster if you install an SSD in it than the PS5 does on its internal SSD)

on Series X the loading should be pretty similar indeed, as that system does not limit loading speeds from last gen titles, and if it's not specifically optimized (for example to use SFS... which it certainly doesn't) then it should be the same

Anyone know how to access the EA Play version for PS5? Or is EA blocking the PS5 version from their subscription service?

Just spent a couple of hours om the PS5 version after owning the PS4 game for ages. They do seem to have fixed some of teh technical issues that were being reporte on the older versions although realistically they should have fixed them there too. I've just got to the end of the train level and it feels heavily influenced by Uncharted, which is quite a nice in a way. It's certainly not as polished as the Uncharted games but I will likely complete it when Ratchet & Clank is out of the way.
Maybe next time Star Wars wants a "PlayStation style" game made in their universe they could do what Marvel did and just go to them and ask for a first party game, afterall, Marvel and Star Wars are both a part of the same company know and it worked out well for Marvel.

Does the game still feel as rushed and unfinished as it did at release? I've beaten it on PS4, and while I enjoyed it overall it did feel pretty rough around the edges.

The game is bland and uninspired now matter how improved the visuals are. Cal is just as boring on the ps5 as he was on ps4.

Are you sure? I just downloaded a copy, it has the performance toggle, but all achievements are marked as complete (Series X btw).

Xbox usually doesn't have separate achievements. on PS5 they have to have separate ones because the PS5 version will be handled like it is a different game, but that's usually not the case on Xbox, outside of very specific instances. on Xbox, unless the version of the game has significant differences, it will be handles as if it is the exact same game. for play anywhere titles this is even true for the Windows 10 Store version as well.

It's smart delivery, which means only technical side of things changed, on playstation you have to get a PS5 copy of the game, so the achievements are not the same list. If you have doubts, you can go to manage the app with burger button and down in the left bottom corner there is a button "info about file" (or something like that and there is what is written in apps's manifest and there should be gen: Scarlett

I didn't really care for Cal as a character either to be honest, but I thought the combat was fun and they did a good job with the settings and level design. One of the better Star Wars games in a sea of trash. Though, whomever thought the Wookie's were good to ship as they were has a mandatory meeting with the Corporate Sector Authority immediately:

Cheers for that. I sort of assumed as much initially but the post I replied to suggested that the next gen version had new trophies and achievements. I thought it unlikely, however it's not completely unknown as the next gen version of Control did reset achievements ( though, technically, that's a separate title and this is an upgrade).

That was not a smart delivery title, so in those titles it's like that, that you have completely different store SKU (thus achievements) on Xbox.

2 different versions. You lose the trophies I’m afraid. You can continue the old save but will need to grind for those trophies again. Pretty annoying.

The save import was smooth. You just select import PS4 save, done. No uploading/downloading needed. This is how they all need to do it.

From the brief time with it I saw no difference. Must be diminishing returns requiring side by side with DF patented 400% zoom.

Deleted as I won’t be playing again.

Did the same, I’m afraid. I love the game but this native next-gen version is not enough to make me replay the whole thing.

Plus, you still can’t skip cutscenes. What the hell…

kinda curious about the save thing. If you buying the ps5 version surely you would want to play from scratch again?

good to have options though

Kinda dissapointed with the update, at least on PS5. It takes more space than the PS4 version, no activities support, still stutters some times, no adaptive triggers support and it still has some minor bugs here and there. But at least is free.

Sony must have changed something, I'm not aware of any PS5 title that is accessing PS4 data directly, they are all using some awful cloud upload/download system.

Yes they do, it actually fucked my save on the Remastered Spider-Man, I own the physical version on PS4 but a digital ps5, I no longer own the PS4 as I traded that towards the ps5 and now I need to download the PS4 version to import my 100% save (I wanted to do Ng+ and DLC on ps5)
