Halo Infinite Official Multiplayer Reveal

Looked like a slightly slowed down Halo 5 which is a good thing. Need to see it in actual action though.
Loved the focus on BTB CTF. BTB in Halo 5 was not good.
Im eagerly awaiting this - Halo is still the best skill based MP on the market in my eyes.

It seems theyre doing a deep dive on the Halo youtube tomorrow morning.

120fps, what other game looks this good at 120fps?
I just personally think it looks bland especially compared to all the other FPS games shown over E3. I'm not expecting super impressive Ray traced graphics at 120fps but I just don't like the art direction they've used. All the big basic colours around the map makes it look dull and really generic.

The important thing though is it looks fun to play although I have a hard time believing they'll be getting 120fps for all versions of the game.

It's what I expected.

Nothing to blow away visually or a overhaul from last year, but impress in multiplayer.

And boy, it did. That grappling hook banshee takeover was the sickest shit for a Halo MP reveal, in years.

Also, if anyone finds that fraud on YouTube who said that the beta would launch right after the show and still calls himself an "iNsIDeR", punch that cunt into the moon and bury him there.
I'm actually surprised how good it looks now, 120fps in MP at this fidelity with vehicles is insane. The campaign footage was really impressive, the flyover had no visible pop in and had much more detail, all this at 60fps. Hopefully they show some gameplay from the campaign soon.

Are the spartan abilities gone finally? I'd love to play Halo again if it actually plays like halo..
I think the armor abilities from halo 5 are gone and now it’s pick ups?

BTW when they say “Free to Play” does that mean you can download the multiplayer separate from the campaign?

If they are behind pickups that's waaay better. If they fixed that and returned radar functionality then I'm game to see what's up again.

Yeah I believe so.

You're simply wrong. In this trailer alone, the armor is taken directly from Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Most of the weapons are originals from Halo CE - Halo Reach with only some new ones. Equipment used to be in Halo 3 and appears to be coming back. Iron Sites are gone and are now HUD scopes again. This has more Halo look and feel than both Halo 4 and Halo 5. This game is on par with the Bungie originals.

Halo 4 was a CoD rip off. The armors resemble Halo Reach and 3 heavily. Hell, the CQC helmet is in the damn trailer. The first season is Heroes of Reach meaning we get Noble Team armor sets among others.

An improvement but not the all out showcase of Infinite I wanted for E3. Campaign revealed nothing, showed little variation of anything and focused far too much on close up first in game cutscene stuff. I get wanting to push this as a Chief game after Halo 5 though. Where was some camapaign gameplay? One forset vista looking great doesn't really push the levels of next gen or inspire a Halo player to wonder what's out there. There is improvements across the board but my word whoever is in charge of putting the campaign sizzle reel together missed the mark IMO.

Multiplayer has some action bits that are nice but nothing that wasn't there in Halo 5 Warzone or Firefight TBH. Many of the in game scenes look like Mega Blox in game form with the exception of the Valhalla-esque map looking the goods. Hopefully more comes to light very quickly but shit why didn't they push a huge blow out on Halo? My opinion is there are better things to showcase and Halo Infinite just isn't pushing the top tier at the moment. Especially not against what was shown from titles like Forza Horizon 5 or Replaced etc.

It just feels like Halo hasn't evolved and is going the same route again. No PvE content shown? No forge or modding shown? No beta mentioned? Very little WOW factor from campaign either.

Hmmmm, one has to wonder how Infinite's development is going still...

From Joseph Staten:

Hey there everyone! I hope you enjoyed your first look at Halo Infinite multiplayer. I’m sure you have a lot of questions, so I wanted to provide more info here, as well as encourage you to check out our deep dive over on Halo Waypoint. We also have a new video from our Multiplayer team coming out tomorrow and an upcoming breakdown of our Multiplayer Trailer this Thursday on Xbox Game Showcase: Extended with Associate Creative Director Tom French, Multiplayer Designer Alex Bean, and Lead Sandbox Designer Quinn DelHoyo. But for now, let’s talk a bit more about where the team has been, where we’re going and what we’re working on between now and launch.

When I joined the team in the Fall of 2020, I threw myself into the game, playing through the campaign and joining in multiplayer playtests. The first thing that struck me about Halo Infinite is how, in so many ways, it’s the realization of the vision we had for Halo 20 years ago when we were making the original games. That feeling of awe and wonder, the freedom to explore an expansive alien world and discover its secrets, all coming to life. Finally, the technology has caught up with the vision, and that’s hugely exciting for everyone at 343.

We also huddled up as a team and identified key areas of focus that we felt were important to finish the game strong and deliver an experience our fans are going to love. Since that time, we’ve been focusing hard on the elements that make Halo uniquely fun, while polishing and optimizing the game in preparation for launch on Xbox and PC. We’re not done yet, but we’re getting close. We can’t wait for you to finally play for yourselves.

Even though launch is a huge moment, it’s just the beginning of Halo Infinite’s Great Journey (sorry, I couldn’t help myself). A major focus for our team is the content we’ll deliver after the game has shipped, and work has already started on our first year of content — and beyond. You saw some examples of that effort in our Multiplayer Trailer, with tons of Spartan customization options that will be part of our very first season, “Heroes of Reach,” including a super-sweet Yoroi Spartan. And in case you were wondering, the Yoroi armor is free and you can unlock it just by playing events in Season 1.

When it comes to gameplay, our goal is to deliver a multiplayer experience that honors classic Halo combat while also offering new players the support needed to jump in and have a great time. To that end, we’re introducing the Spartan Academy and Spartan Commander Laurette who will help players familiarize themselves with maps, weapons, and equipment. We’re also introducing bot matches so players new and old can warm up before they hit the battlefield. We’ve got more in store for bots and Academy content over time that we look forward to rolling out as the game evolves.

And that gets at heart of our other focus, making Halo Infinite a game that will grow over time with the community. It’s incredibly important that all of you are partners in this journey, and we’re dedicated to listening to your feedback and continuing to improve the game over time. As we try new things and take risks, we’ll listen closely to the community to understand what players love and what we need to reexamine as we go forward. For the first time in franchise history, we’re getting a chance to really dig in and deliver new experiences for our players. Some things you might expect, like new maps and modes. But we might just have a few more surprises up our sleeves that you’ll see in the months following our launch this year.

What gets me the most excited about this journey we’re starting together is the fact that multiplayer is free to play, and how that gives us the opportunity to build the biggest Halo community ever. Also, with cross play and cross-platform progression, there are almost no barriers to enjoying the game with friends, regardless of where they play. It feels extra special to be able to grow the community and bring it together in this way.

Over the past several months, we’ve been taking fans behind the scenes with our Inside Infinite blog series, introducing faces from around the studio and telling stories behind how the game is made. This past year has been filled with challenges as well as successes for all of us. But we’re going to keep having open, candid conversations with our community, and keep you all in the loop on our progress as we make our most ambitious Halo game yet.

I also want to encourage everyone to head over to Halo Insider and sign up if you haven’t done so yet. We’ll be conducting technical previews this summer and signing up gives you a shot to be one of the first people to play the game, provide feedback and help ensure we have the best launch possible. We’ll have more details on the preview program soon, but for now, please sign up! We’re really excited for people outside the studio to play the game.

Lastly, while today is largely a celebration of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer experience, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also speak to those tantalizing bits of the campaign we shared during the showcase. We are continuing the story of the Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 5, but also telling a story that’s welcoming for new players. Cortana’s fate is one of the Infinite campaign’s big mysteries, and early in the story, you will meet a new UNSC AI, “the Weapon”, that was created to help stop Cortana. Together with the Pilot, the Master Chief, and the Weapon begin an epic adventure to explore Zeta Halo, defeat the Banished forces who control the ring, and unravel even more mysteries along the way.

Very excited for this.

Looked fantastic to me. 120fps halo with lots of customization , new modes, new weapons, etc.

Lack of BR is very surprising though. It's all anyone is asking for from this franchise and studio and they won't deliver it.

I suspect it'll be fun for a while then die to obscurity like Halo 5 MP.

At least it's free.

Yep, those covie guns totally have a COD aesthetic. Seriously, the thought put into some of these low-effort shitposts is reaching a new low. You'd think after 5 years, the shit people make up would have become at least a little more creative.

You've already failed.

Sprint
Slide
Clamber
Grapple for movement.

All things that are direct contradictions to Halos tight gameplay.

I mean, if you want to play Halo CE/2/3, they're right there...the MCC is as good as it's ever been (arguably, should've been from the beginning). It's an excellent way to relive those things. I guess you're the genius that could iterate on the H2/3 formula and keep improving on it without advanced movement techniques though?

My view is (and I could be wrong) it simply can't be done without constraining the game to an extremely small niche. This is the direction the series had to go for it not to eventually be killed by MS (does anyone really think MS would keep the servers going for a niche game?)

That's some embarassing shit from that poster. Let's pretend Demon's Souls, Horizon or Ratchet don't look literally a gen ahead of any new exclusive on their rivals box :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I mean, yes, and no. If you're talkin about single player, sure. Guerilla and Insomniac aren't making multiplayer games with 120fps modes so I guess we won't know, will we? The Insomniac dev already said that Rachet could only run in 120fps in spots and that it was too CPU limited in their engine to make a higher refresh mode. You'd definitely need VRR and we're still waiting on Sony to give a timeframe for that, right? Not defending Halo's graphics, although I do think if they do what they're doing right now and getting a little more creative with the environments, it goes a long way to masking the less-than-worldbeating visuals. The boring industrial visual design that inspired most of the Halo 5's shipping maps thankfully doesn't seem to constitute more than half of the environs in the new game.

The halo 3/Reach multiplayer betas didn't exactly blow people away visually when they came out either. I think people forget that.

Mm no, not in my opinion - the game needs to evolve past 2007 at some point
Care to provide a single shred of evidence that Halo needed to become a trashy cod in space clone?

Fun fact, Halo 3 is currently the most played Halo game, not Halo 5:Gimmicks.

I mean, if you want to play Halo CE/2/3, they're right there..
If you want to play titanfall or CoD, they're right there...

Stop trying to change Halo into something that it isn't. You are the reason it's become an god awful cod in space clone that becomes entirely irrelevant months after release instead of the top tier game that sets standards for years.

This doesn't look like it plays like a cod clone at all tho - sprint, clamber and glide are great movement options as is grappling hook - I don't define COD gameplay by it's controls. Any FPS that feels good has good movement options, Halo at the time had the best on console but games have evolved. I find it kinda weird that people are so put off by more control over your movement
