Did you see Forza Horizon 5 pretty sure that not CGI lol it looks to be the best looking game so far.
Horizon looked amazing even on a 1080p monitor being streamed. I'd love to watch it uncompressed on the OLED. Maybe Digital Foundry will go over some of the gameplay segments and give some insights. Unless they wait until release.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
Just think, this could have been Arx Fatalis 2. Instead we get diverse hero shooter number 9,999,999,999....

I had fun times playing Left4Dead. I want to see some gameplay to see how this goes. I'm just hoping it's not a Micro-transaction/season pass fest. I have hope that it doesn't go the way of Evolve.

No one buys prey……..why aren’t they making prey 2?

on this, the trailer was ok need to see more before I shit on it but it wasn’t the greatest first showing. I imagine it will play well though.

I thought it looked very interesting, one of the better showcases to be honest.

I'm always happy to see new games by Arkane. They are so talented and creative, but ... this is not what I was expecting. Another by-the-game numbers generic co-op shooter game. Dozens of studios are already working on one.

Arkane has enough talent to create something truly unique. Either way, wishing them success.

Only 1 Year - 4 months - 28 days from release… what can go wrong right?

I don’t understand this industry.
I assume MS wanted to have at least a couple of new 1st party game CG announcements in this event. I assume it will be a good game, but looked maybe too similar to other games shown in the event.

I mean they haven't done one of these themselves yet have they? So I'm eager to see if Arkane can pull it off. If the game ends up great I'll be more than happy to throw more money their way as they're one of my favourite devs at the moment.

I mean for how badly mismanaged and unorganized most of the industry, there should be a law to not allow publishers to announce a release date that is over 6 months.

People said same thing about Doom (2016). See how that turned out.

Talented developers tend to get things right. I would wait for release.

My hype for Redfall is at Zero right now.

I assume this is the A Team at Arkane that made Dishonored but this doesn't feel like a blockbuster.
Will probably do as good or marginally better than first Dishonored. (this is definitely GaaS)

But was it? I think it disappointed most of our imaginations. Arkane fans were hoping for a vampire sim along the lines of amazing powers ala their other offerings.

I love Arkane, but I'm not sure about this one. I really don't like the "cool college kids" character designs.

I liked some of the monster designs though.

Don't know what to think of it yet. Unfortunately Suicide Squad will be this ip's direct competition and there's an enormous chance that Rocksteady will kill it yet again so
Only thing Rocksteady was able to kill in last decade was my love for Batman games.

why is arkane doing these dishonored derivative shooter games only now, their CEO is a huge Ultima Underworld fan and they made Arx Fatalis, why not do something like that for a change...

A bit deflating as a closer but overall if this is anything like L4D then it could be a lot of online fun, plus the developers are pretty solid.

I mean we're getting Back 4 Blood, Rainbow Siege Extraction, Warhammer Darktide and Redfall as 4 player coop shooters lol

weird

Outside of that we're getting Suicide Squad and Babylon's Fall as 4 players live service stuff (I don't remember if Gotham Knights is one of these)

Seems like 4 players anything gonna be meta for a bit

Money, most likely.

Online co-op shooter has more potential for in-game monetization than a single-player immersive sim like Dishonored.

The environments look cool, the characters are fucking stupid looking. Why can’t we have character creators in these type of games. I want to have my own character.

Probably the same reason Rocksteady, another god of game development and with the infinite potential of the DC/Batman licence under its belt, is doing a co-op shooter: MONEYYYY

Rewatched the trailer quite a few times and checked out some info on their site.

Really liked what I heard and saw. If they can pull off having it play well in solo and multiplayer, then it'd be a homerun for me.

Definitely keeping an eye out for more info down the line.

Literally what in this game seemed woke to you? The inclusion of a black woman as a character? Lmfao

Who the fuck wants to play as a black woman with a giant fro? Are you fucking serious? lol The only ones that don't have a problem with it are rainbow haired yuppy freaks. So you can either play as Queen Latifah, the carpet munching white feminist or Muhammad. Break the fuck out of here with that hot garbage.

Every game we make is a little different for the last. Dishonored featured stealth. Prey leveraged tons of physics-related gameplay. Mooncrash introduced rogue-like elements. Despite those differences, in every case our focus remains on deep worldbuilding and inventive game mechanics. The same will be true of Redfall.

We wanted players to have an Arkane experience, but with the option of playing with friends this time. As a result, we thought going for heroes with strong personalities and distinctive backgrounds would make for a stronger game. We think players are going to enjoy not only the interaction of their various abilities as they fight the vampires, but also seeing their chemistry develop over time as they liberate Redfall.

Vampires are perennially fun, classical villains, because they’re ripe for every generation to reinvent and experience in a new light. In our case, Redfall vampires are science-inspired triggered by biotech longevity experimentation."

Once the very picture of Smalltown, USA, the island town of Redfall used to be known for its quaint streets, breezy boardwalks and charming neighborhoods. Then the vampires moved in and ruined everything. First, they eclipsed the sun. Then they started turning all the island’s inhabitants into either minions for their army… or food.

That’s where you come in. Choose from a lineup of unconventional heroes, each with their own unique abilities and specialized weaponry, and face off against the bloodsucking legions threatening the island. You can go it alone, building your chosen character around solo play, or you can select the perfect character to round out a roster of heroes in up to four-player co-op.

THE SQUAD

Redfall features a rich campaign that explores not only the story of the island and the creatures plaguing its streets, but the stories of our four heroes as well. Each hero has their own unique personalities and abilities, as well as reasons for being in Redfall and fighting to protect what remains.

KILL ’EM WITH SCIENCE

Redfall’s vampires aren’t your typical bloodsuckers. They were created after a scientific experiment went horribly wrong, and they’re continuing to evolve. After their transformation, some of them develop powerful abilities and become specialized vampires like the Angler. Shown in the trailer, the Angler uses a psychic harpoon to drag you away from your team, leaving you vulnerable and alone. And that’s just one of the vampire types you’ll encounter in Redfall.
But they’re not the only thing standing in your way – you’ll also face off against the human cultists who worship the island’s hungry new leadership with the hopes of joining their ranks. These cultists have set up outposts all over the island. Clear out the outposts and you’ll make that area a little safer for human survivors.

THE ARKANE APPROACH

Redfall is a co-op FPS that brings Arkane Austin’s unique DNA and love of deep, immersive stories to an ever-changing open-world setting that reacts to your choices and actions. Traverse the island, collect and customize new gear, and upgrade your hero’s abilities to suit your playstyle, whether it’s a fast and noisy “bullets and stakes for everyone” approach or something a little more subtle.

Basically the game has a campaign with a story also and individual character motivations for being on the island. It's not just a basic co-op shooter. Also open world. It's deeper than people think. If the atmosphere, story and immersion is right I will play even a co-op shooter, but you can play by yourself also.

During the Xbox Bethesda Showcase, Phil Spencer unveiled for the first time Redfall, Arkane's new game (Dishonored, Prey, Deathloop) which will be exclusive to Xbox consoles.

While it will still be an FPS like the studio's previous games, this time the game will be open-world and promises an immersive experience playable both alone and with friends.
The title action takes place on the picturesque island of Redfall, Massachusetts, which is besieged by a legion of vampires who have blocked the sun and cut off the island from the outside world.

To face your enemies, you will be able to choose your hero from a diverse roster and build the perfect team of vampire slayers.
Unlike Deathloop which is scheduled for this end of the year on PS5 and PC, Redfall will be exclusive to Xbox consoles as announced by Phil Spencer.
Scheduled for 2022, the game will be available in Xbox Game Pass on PC and Xbox Series.

Well, that looks pretty cool. All CGI perhaps ( I didn't see anything that said 'in engine' or the usual stuff ) so I assume it's just a target render or CGI promo piece. Does look like it could be a cool idea though and coming from Arkane it will likely be interesting. I'm glad to see Xbox getting some games out sooner. I suppose this counts as 1st party now though those REAL 1st party games will be later. Something nice for Xbox owners to look forward to at any rate!

Then they did a phenomenally bad job of selling it

Not really, all one has to do is go read the website and don't just assume from the trailer. There are all types of cool facts about the game on the website, even short bios on the characters and their special traits.

That said, the trailer was a fantastic way to give people an idea of what the world and characters will be like.

The vibe of this one screams a darker sunset overdrive with vampires, supernatural abilities, with apparently 4 unique hero characters each with their own unique personality and abilities, with different reasons for being in town during the events. You can collect and customize gear, upgrade abilities to match your specific playstyle.

And the game's art style is absolutely stellar based on the trailer. People engrossed by the character's appearances calling them "woke" and all other manner of craziness, look at the environments and the atmosphere!
