I hope they give more love to the app and start integrating some of the console’s features ( quick resume comes to mind) Xbox app is barebones

Wait wasn't win 10 supposed to be the last OS?

Given EU forced Microsoft to make Internet explorer option able and made a prompt so even retarded monkey could download Firefox, then they probably argue that Microsoft integrating xbox fully into Windows is an unfair advantage over Sony and Nintendo.

EU is brain dead so who knows what fucked up stuff it can vomit up on the carpet.
It was only ever going to be the last OS only in name, and they've realized that putting in the effort to keep updating a product without rebranding it is a stupid idea anyway.

Are they trying to make Windows look more like Mac?

The Mac UI do look super clean though

Can't wait to install classic shell again and make it look like an old version of windows. Team green can't stop me.

They'll probably make DX13 exclusive to Windows 11 to force people to 'upgrade', just like they did with DX12 and Windows 10.

(Well they backported it to Windows 7 eventually, but only after several years of complaints)

That's nice and everything but 7 is my last Windows. I had considered that in the future I might have a current Windows PC for gaming only, but nah. I might use 7 to play all my old games and beyond that just use a game console. In a world where you can plug a m/kb into a console and it plays a fps game at 120fps, I mean...

and? they are completely free to do it)
people have been too spoiled by Microsoft, they should try a little more of Apple to understand what we are talking about

forcing of any kind. they don't ask, they do, if the user is okay .... otherwise the user can go fuck himself.

How exactly are Mac users forced "of any kind"? One of my computers is a Mac. Tell me exactly what I am forced to do.

you might want to look into the history of lawsuits against Microsoft, lol

Yep. Integrating IE into Windows almost caused MS to be split for using monopoly power to curtail competition.

I do really prefer the aesthetics of W11, it does seem they've gome for a far more refined look than previously. Hopefully it will carry across onto the Xbox too as 10 did. Hopefully it won't take too long to settle in this although our Surface is generally used for what is usually smaller independant software that doesn't always make it across to other OSes.

This is where the antitrust lawsuits should kick in. Seriously, MS can fuck the right off with this shit.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
10 bucks say you cant uninstall that gamepass app.
I already knew they are going to push this aggressively infront of our faces.

I'm still rocking Windows 7 on the PC I built back in 2010. But when Windows 11 launches and PC parts become available again, I think it's time to finally upgrade.

Good but if I need to use their store in its current form I ain’t touching it again. I downloaded some games from it and it install folders on my drive that were almost impossible to remove. Ended up having to format it and reinstall all my games.

I've seen a few videos on the leaked build of Windows 11, and a lot of the stuff that people think is new, is totally not new but already part of new Windows 10 versions.

the Xbox app is preinstalled on Windows 10 if you buy a new PC today.
I just recently helped a family member set a new PC up, and the Xbox app was right there, including GamePass promo.

so far, the only new things I've seen in any Windows 11 video or report is UI related, everything else is old

so all the laughable suggestions that this is somehow a revelation that can lead to lawsuits is fucking hilarious 🤣

also, the Xbox App is literally just an app that only shows Xbox brandsd games. but in function it's just a re-skin of the Microsoft Store, that just doesn't show any of the other stuff and has a UI that shows your installed games

You did hear about dx12 agility right?

Unless the xbox app becomes a competitor to steam in terms of percentage of games distribution, then I can't see any chance of an anti-trust law suit.

P.S I would like them to allow devs like valve use the same api's and services as the xbox app.

Unless you start using it as a daily driver and clutter your macOS with dozens of small tools to make it usable enough (like Rectangle, ToothFairy etc.).
I loved OSX until 2013 when I was forced to work with it every day. Today, it's a way more love/hate relationship than with Windows 10. :(

For the Windows 11 Taskbar - love that you are now able to centre everything, but did they improve the keyboard shortcuts for windows movement and arrangement? To use a mouse drives me nuts on nearly every system...

Issues with using Windows + Right/Left Arrow button to move the windows to one half/quarter of the screen? It sometimes feels a bit off but works 90% of the time.

For others, they have introduced a drop down on that typical fullscreen button that gives you that option visually now.

I don't think this will happen again as the software landscape has changed dramatically. Windows, as well PCs, are not the dominant computing systems any more and app stores / package managers are the de-facto standard for every operating system on every hardware.

It works great on 16:9 screens but If you go ultrawide, then the options are not enough to arrange your windows.

That might be the difference, I got a 2 16:10 screens so it works well for me but yeah, I can see it being a pain for ultra wide monitors. I don't know if power tools has something that could help, I think it did have some more granular windows management

I was around then lol. Only MS approved Mouses and keyboards, only internally developed software unless you were proficient in DOS. They were like apple, bundling windows with Gamepass doesn't stop competition though.

Isn't it still just a standalone app that can be add/deleted, I wouldn't really call that integrated.

Also in general looking a lot more like ChromeOS now (not a bad thing)
