Ghost of Tsushima removes Only on PlayStation logo on box art (PC version incoming?)

The 'only on Playstation' tag has been removed from both Amazon and Playstation.com:

Currently, PS4 exclusives that have yet to release on PC such as Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2, still hold the “Only on PlayStation” branding. This branding was removed on some cross-gen PS4/PS5 such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy and other titles.

Even PlayStation exclusive titles no longer have the Only on PlayStation branding, as is the case with Demons Souls or Returnal.

Game covers feature too much logos, banners and gaming media quotes, awards stuff, etc. I'd reduce them to the minimum: Almost the entire cover for the game's key art illustation and game logo, and a small platform banner to feature platform, publisher, dev and age rating logos. Soomething like this:

Nooooo Bryan got banned. Fucking hell.

Anyway, hype. I haven't played this and I sold my PS4, so I might get it on Steam.
Hope it's just a temp ban.

Also, a reminder that there currently remains 17 items left to publish for Sony on Steam.
It could be 1 game with 16 DLCs or 17 games, nobody knows ('cept for Sony). It's also possible they stopped adding unpublished items to the publisher page to avoid showing their hand.

It's fine that its on PC.

I think the thing that is odd though is that Sony doesn't appear to have really defined what their strategy is clearly for their supporters. MS made a dramatic change, and has communicated that strategy so its not ambiguous. Wherever you want to play, MS doesn't really care - they will support you to the fullest of their ability.

What is the PS vision? Playstation is the best place to play? PC and Playstation are both the best place to play? PC gets crumbs a gen late? No one really knows at this point what they're even doing. That is the problem.

Sony will never fully tell gamers what their PC strategy is because it would sadden many of their users. So they got to secretly work on PC versions and then quietly announce it on PS Blog. It's a fine balance they got to do. They know what it is based on board meetings. They are already working on PC games the whole time.

So it seems now clear that it's not because of the PS5 stocks that Sony are doing crossgen games, but it's more to make it easier to be ported on PC.

I can imagine how sad Hermen Hulst the PC fanboy is because he won't be able to port Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on PC before at least 5 years.

Great for PC players only, great for Sony and potentially great for PS fans as first party studios and partners will make more money to invest in new games. Where is the problem again? 🤔
Only people with a problem are ecosystem wallers.

No different than Apple. When Apple was struggling 20 years ago but had a small dedicated rebel following, Apple decided to ditch that and go mainstream with U2 ads, iTunes on PC, their Macs suddenly use Intel chips and run Windows if you want etc.... Thats where the money is. More people = more money. But some Apple loyalists hated it because too many people were using Apple stuff.

Since I made that sports thread, people bring up NHL many times. Great series. The first EA NHL game was on Genesis. Had it. SNES and PC didn't get their EA NHL games for another year or two.

Not once did I think.... Oh man, I feel like shit because now SNES and PC gamers can play NHL. Who cares. If EA wants to build the game up by making more versions let them.

They dont want to create bad blood and negativity in their userbase. To me, its obvious what the long term strategy is, they are just doing it bit by bit, game by game, until it gets to the point where its accepted and the 'norm'.
I still think by the end of this gen, PS5 games will be launching day and date on PC, just like Xbox.

I guess you're right.

They're going to have to put out some more statements if PS5 games start showing up on time. People are going to flip out when they realize they were lied to. Being vague about it is going to be a mistake in the long run.

I think this is a reissue like some said, PS Studios logo is added and the game is updated to the latest version on disc. I don't think this is coming to PC, definitely not this soon.

I loved playing through Ghost of Tsushima. It brought back good memories and has a good combat system with the stances. Loved it. I will get it on the PC if it comes there but hoping for a GOG release. Not a big fan of Steam.

Well the game is pretty cheap right now on PS4. Maybe I should pick it up.

Curious as to whether I will get the new logo on it.
You should definitely get it. The game is a joy to play through.

Completely unrelated and I don't know if anyone noticed this but Sucker Punch were the ones to kick off the PS4 generation with Infamous: Second Son (also great) and they also kinda wrapped up the PS4 generation with their release of Ghost of Tsushima (and I know things are not quite the same as previous generations but still.)

Given it seems unlikely for Sony to release more than one of its big first-party games on PC per year... Who gives a damn?

I would not be surprised to see this game on PC in the near future.

That's a good idea, although (and I could be mistaken) I believe the ESRB now requires game packages to have the rating symbol on one of the lower corners for the sake of consistency.

I was just about to start playing this on PS5. Looks like I'll just wait a bit. Sony's already made me double dip with HZD and Days Gone, they know what they're doing I guess.
