Ghost of Tsushima removes Only on PlayStation logo on box art (PC version incoming?)

They dont want to create bad blood and negativity in their userbase. To me, its obvious what the long term strategy is, they are just doing it bit by bit, game by game, until it gets to the point where its accepted and the 'norm'.
I still think by the end of this gen, PS5 games will be launching day and date on PC, just like Xbox.
day and date? LOL

I think this is a reissue like some said, PS Studios logo is added and the game is updated to the latest version on disc. I don't think this is coming to PC, definitely not this soon.
Good, I'm glad they got rid of those stupid logos. They were the most inconsistent logos ever and I think depended on the developers/publishers using them rather than if the game was truly only on PlayStation or console exclusive.

Game covers feature too much logos, banners and gaming media quotes, awards stuff, etc. I'd reduce them to the minimum: Almost the entire cover for the game's key art illustation and game logo, and a small platform banner to feature platform, publisher, dev and age rating logos. Soomething like this:

They put logos and everything on the printed part, so they can manufacture plastic trays without anything specific. What you're suggesting does look better, but it's not feasible as every game would need its own plastic tray. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen.

What the fuck are you talking about? Do you even own a PS4 game? The blue "PS4" part of the label isn't the plastic box.

Day to date? Not a chance. They will put games on the PC that make sense in terms of popularity, and also based on specific sales milestones. ALso they want each one of these releases to be great. We dont want another Horizon: zero dawn scenario.

So it seems now clear that it's not because of the PS5 stocks that Sony are doing crossgen games, but it's more to make it easier to be ported on PC.

I can imagine how sad Hermen Hulst the PC fanboy is because he won't be able to port Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on PC before at least 5 years.
R&C can be on pc right now too.

Anything on XB1, PS4, PS5, Series s/x can be easily ported to PC, as those consoles are based off PC architecture.
lol. The spin you pc guys make is unbelievable. My deal is the game can go to PC, but at the price of a PS5 version.

And is super funny you guys spinning the '$70?, too expensive, gonna wait discount', and next 'Yes Sony, make me buy the game twice'.
It'll probably be $50 like HZD and Days Gone.

Whats wrong? I talking from me, I can't talk for anyome.

Would be better for you using 'IMO'?
Why would we pay more money than we are used to for brand new games, for a game released 6 years ago? Console prices can be that high because of Sony implementation and ps5 tax. But very few would buy it for $70 on steam. I'd buy it from a cheap cdkey site if they ever tried some b.s. like that.

Games are always cheaper on PC, and the consumers dictate those prices. Steam reviews can make or break a game. But I'm sure Sony already knows that, hence not full price for it's last couple of games.

That was always the plan. They opened up their own Steam page. Jim Ryan has stated that he wants Sony games on PC. Most likely Bloodborne too.

It’s so crazy that I have yet to actually find a physical in my area. I bought it digitally but it’s still weird to me

So many Playstation games on PC now…... Wait theres only been 2 so far lol.

Ghost of Tsushima will probably come sometime in 2022-2023 on the PC which is ok. Theres still much older PS3/PS4 comes that havent made it on the PC yet. Bloodborne is over 6 years old? Uncharted series. Ratchet and Clank PS4 etc. Nothing to lose from them going to the PC now.

If you wish I can use 'IMO'.
may be just lost in translation, but what you said is the equivalent of having a salesman and a costumer discussing a deal, and then comes a complete stranger that has nothing to do with either one saying "Look, this is my final offer, take it or leave it"

It's wonderful to see Playstation lose its unique identity month after month seeing all of its games on PC.

A scenario that was unthinkable until a year ago.

This makes me happy.
What is that even supposed to mean? If anything, Sony is building on their brand by tossing 18 month+ old games onto PC and expanding without sacrificing their console business to do it. As someone who games on consoles and PC I can say I will not be giving up my PS5 because older PlayStation games are headed to PC. I don't want to wait at least a year. If anything, I will most likely double dip on a few of them.

I'm happy too. I'm happy because I want to everyone to see PC as the neutral ground that it is. A place where gamers who exist outside this silly console war can play all the games. That just makes sense to me.

But you are wrong. PlayStation isn't losing its unique identity at all. Console gamers are not going to magically turn into PC gamers even if every PS game comes to PC day one. For console gamers, what does it matter? Absolutely no console gamers are affected by this at all. So tell me again how PS lose its identity?

not happening no way GIF

What he meant is that the problem he has with this Ps4 games going PC is that it doesn't benefit PS5 players in general. Sure its money, but they could at least give some candies for PS5 players as well when its about playing some of their PS4 titles. He was talking to me other day and to some point I agree. Its not like it hurts putting a better version to take fully advantage of the PS5(which I dunno, not into this spec stuff). Both PC and PS5 players would be happy, but in this case seems like only 2 are being affected(PC players and Sony).

I think at this point people already know my brother isn't the best writting english since it not our native language, but he tries. Mockery is not cool.

The game artwork and the blue bar are part of the same image. If Sony decides to don't ask games to put anything covering the blue bar it's just an artistic choice on their side mentioned on their guidelines. If some day Sony decides it would be a good idea to have a slimmer bar, to limit logos and their positions to where I put thrm and to forbid extra logos and quotes, then they would do it.

R&C can be on pc right now too.
The thing is that it would have a mininum and recommended requirements that would only cover a tiny portion of the PC installbase, so it wouldn't be profitable.

I think Sony prefers to port to PC old PS4 games because there's a way bigger PC install base with specs capable to run them decently. In addition to don't affect console game release, obviously.

Days Gone says hi.
The rumor was its sequel pitch wasn't greenlighted for Bend after developing DG1. But maybe the rumor is fake. And if true, it doesn't mean there won't be a sequel:

Or maybe Sony told them the greenlight but it needed UE5 and since it isn't available while they wait they helped ND with a couple of projects and started to work on a new IP with a 2nd team. Maybe Sony told them the pitch was weak and asked to tweak certain areas and after they fix them they pitch it again and Sony greenlights it. Or maybe another team is developing it.

Probably consoles sales. Exclusives matter
Just like Nintendo.

Doubt they will come day 1 or a few months later either way

That tiny portion is still likely bigger than the PS5 userbase. They really have nothing to lose.

People are definitely jumping to conclusions here.

Sony just doesn't use only on PlayStation branding since PS5 games don't have the signage either.

Personally, I hope nobody buys these PC versions so Sony doesn't bother releasing them anymore.

What would you guess minimum and recommend specs to be? There are millions and millions more next gen GPU's than next gen consoles out in the wild.

Exactly. And people can just play at 1440p, with DLSS up to 4k, 60 fps, raytracing, etc, instead of native 4k if their rig can't handle it.

Switch cloud version. ?
Maybe even Xbox as shown by MLB.
Sony took the artistic (+marketing) choice of not including anymore the 'Only on PlayStation' banner on their game boxes, which doesn't mean they will go 3rd party and start publishing games on other consoles.

Sony only will release on their own consoles, and some old PS4 games on PC. So GoT eventually may be ported to PC some day.

As an exception, MLB was released on PC and Xbox published by MLB, not by Sony. MLB demanded to make the game multiplatform as a condition to renew Sony's license to keep using their IP. It was fine for Sony, they accepted.

That tiny portion is still likely bigger than the PS5 userbase. They really have nothing to lose.
No, it must be close as of now, but it's smaller.

And well, they sold over 1.5 Billion PS4 games (and counting), which means a ton of money for Sony and their main revenue source. They want to grow this, not to reduce it.

To port old previous gen games to PC won't hurt their console game sales, in the same way it doesn't affect them to include several years old games on PS+ or PS Now, because after 2 or 3 years the games already sold basically everything they can in the console after discounts, price drops and so on.

To release all their new games day one on PC would make many people to don't buy these games on PS5 and even to don't need to buy the console, as happens with Xbox.

All I'm saying is that a PC port is no indication a sequel is coming. I do think GoT will get a sequel but the two aren't related.

I wonder if the reasoning behind these last-gen games making the jump is because either widespread piracy is about to hit PS4 - and the entire collection will easily be run through an emulator on PC - or Sony is making the console more piracy friendly to provide long tail hardware sales of PS4 in poorer regions of the world - knowing that consoles and controllers are highly profitable sales for them, now, and so porting to PC in advance gets them money they would otherwise lose from emulated pirated PS4 titles.

If they are following Xbox strategy, then I'd love to know the reason why, because unique hw strategies results in unique software - the Wii, WiiU, DS and 3DS probably being the extreme case for interface solutions, and the PS2 and PS3 being the extreme case for technological solutions. The PS4 is pretty vanilla PC, but with the PS5 being more exotic, day and date of PS5 games on PC, just means that game design from PlayStation will be homogenised and generic going forward, just like PC is for decades long periods.

If that is the PlayStation strategy, I'll probably ditch the console and buy on Steam, where actually going digital with DRM stopping the ability to offline backup is hopefully still working. Moving back to PC would be easy enough for me, I just suspect my overall spend on gaming would drop considerably in the long run, so really think the strategy is shooting themselves in the foot.

You can go to check the Steam hardware stats. I don't remember the current numbers, but I'd bet that way over 90% of Steam users don't have GPUs with next gen arquitecture, raytracing, DLSS and 4K resolution displays.

True, a PC port isn't an indication of a sequel coming (at least soon). In the same way, Sony deciding to remove the 'Only on PlayStation' banner from their covers is no indication of GoT -and all their other exclusive games- are getting a PC port (at least soon).

Time's changing. Only reason why nintendo relies on their exclusives is because they have almost nothing else going on for their consoles. Very different case for sony and PS, unless you believe theres no reason to get a PS5 apart from exclusive titles that is.

I thought there was roughly 200m steam users, and the average specs to run all last-gen AAA games was 10% (20m), but would happily have someone give me new correct figures .
