NieR Replicant has shipped 1 million units worldwide. The official NieR Twitter account shared this information, revealing shipment numbers for both NieR Replicant and NieR: Automata. In February 2021, it was revealed that NieR: Automata had shipped roughly 5.5 units worldwide. However, as of June 22, 2021 NieR: Automata has now shipped 6 million units worldwide including both physical and digital sales.

NieR: Automata has received numerous awards since its release and has gained critical acclaim among both consumers and critics. In 2017 NieR: Automata won Game of the Year at the Japan Game Awards. And in 2019 the title also received the PlayStation Platinum Prize. Additionally, a NieR: Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition released in 2019 following the success of the title.

NieR Replicant, on the other hand, has shipped 1 million units worldwide. This includes both physical and digital sales of the game. However, this is double the estimated sales of the original release of NieR Replicant and NieR Gestalt. Free NieR: Automata cosmetic DLC content is currently available to obtain in NieR Replicant.

NieR: Automata is immediately available for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. NieR: Automata first released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in February 2017, followed by its Western and PC releases in March 2017. It released for the Xbox One in June 2018. NieR Replicant is immediately available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Never in my life would I've thought that Nier would go on and become a multi million seller franchise when I played the original back in 2010. It bombed so hard. Very happy for Yoko Taro and the success of these games. They are so unique and so good and hopefully this success means that publishers will continue to take risks with crazy japanese games. Bring on Nier 3.

I know who you feel, I was following Taro since original Drakengard on PS2, which it was too "niche" or "weird" for most people to care even among JRPG fans, I was very few people who play those games.

I would give anything if SMT(Shin Megami Tensei) becomes this successful.

I wonder if we'll ever see a remaster of the Drakengard trilogy. Although this article is old, Yoko Taro did speak about it. It predates the NieR Replicant remaster and its success, so maybe there's a chance?

I would love to, but unfortunately in this age oversensetive people who get offended over everything might not be possible without changing entire story but at that point I rather not have it.

Yeah, Arioch and Leonard come to mind for what some might deem "too much". And changing them would damage the story and world building, for sure. Yoko Taro doesn't strike me as the type to compromise on his vision, but the same can't be said for the publisher.

A well deserved success. Currently around 30 hours into Nier Replicant. It's not as good as Nier Automata which has a much better first ten hours, side quests, music and combat which was handled by the brilliant Platinum games.

However its still a solid game and far more creative than anything you'll get from the Triple A devs. I definitely recommend it, even if Hard mode feels like easy mode for other games up until the DLC and some very weird difficulty spikes with suddenly getting one shot by mini bosses. But thankfully those are very few and far between.

I highly recommend using Dark Wall in recycled vessel, majority of enemies and bosses can one shots you in hard difficulty.
I never used dark wall, but I was using Phoneix Spear upgraded, the dark blades and then the dark ball which shoots thing. The issue with relying on distance is the magic will one shot you anyway. So I just get up close, use dark blades, double my damage for 60 secs and hope to hell I'm not greedy and jump out of the way ASAP. The section where you only had 3 mins to kill the boss who could one shot you was bs. The 4 boss gauntlet right at the end was even worse.

Couldn't they just ignore these overly sensitive people and bring back the games as fans remember them?

Is SE willing to deal with the outrage and cancel culture nonsense!!? I think we both know the answer to that question.

The most unlikely franchise imaginable.

We're all just waiting for the English localized version of Nier Reincarnation now. Any day now, Squenix....

I don't particularly like remasters but many games that failed in the old days can succeed with the new broad audience of now if some work is put in. Hell, some games immediately see an upward trend with just technical fixes. Nier automata is now played far more on the gamepass after the latest update and I am pretty sure the sale of The Last Guardian will increase if they patch it with official 60fps. How many people are buying The order 1886. Patch it with 4k60 and sell it with 10-12 USD price tag and that game will start selling like hotcake. Sensible economic decisions never get taken because these are IPs of insensible companies.

Haven’t played Automata in years (since release) and the Yorha edition was recently on sale so I bought it again. Going to start another play through soon. I loved the game the first time around and am happy it was such a success and that other people were touched by it too.

Means more success for the studio. Theres more chance of sequels/Prequels or new IP from them etc, thats why its important for the Gamers who enjoyed it.
If it doesnt do well its not good for the studio = not good for the fans
This should be for copies "sold through". Shipped means nothing.

I bought Replicant as a big fan of Automata. I even played the whole $60 when I normally wait on sales. I have to be honest, I kinda regret the purchase.

I got to the second half of the game...
The factory dungeon was already super boring, but to have to do the forest of Mist again. I simply do not have the patience [\spoiler]

Yeah, I feel the same. I've been assured that the grind is worth it in terms of story so I will keep chipping away at it but replaying sections was handled waaaay better in Automata.
