Is there a crop shortage coming this year? More specifically on grains?

Some one I know closely who works in the grain industry has told me they just got word that global warming has effected the produce this year and emails just went out that work will be slowing down. Apparently they were told to stock up on grains as well. Now this person can be a bit alarmist so I want to talk to the wise Gaf. Any of you heard anything about this? Is this person retarded?

I don't know shit about farming but we've sure had some crazy weather here in the Netherlands over the last few months... right now the south east of the country is experiencing flash floods due to unprecedented levels of rainfall (this is, ironically, not the part of the netherlands that's below sea level, rather one of the only areas that's significantly above sea level)

And that story about 50 degree (centigrade) heat in canada also had me raise my eyebrows

I’m just gonna say this as a backyard gardener.

potentially.

The amount of food that comes out of California between the drought and the heat waves fucked up my little harvest here and it kinda made me think about how larger farms are possibly dealing with this between a worker shorter and the weather attacking you. The heat is shredding through my backyard stuff, even with shade.

I rely on good wet winters to help me and while I’ve done good by adapting certain methods to my garden (back to eden) to reduce water usage, I’m STILL finding myself having to water more than I should because the sun is evaporating all the moisture out of my soil.

On a microscale I just have sun burned tomatoes and dried eggplants. On a macroscale? The only people I could ask I haven’t spoken too in years.

I had a look and dumping of product (maybe not at sea) is common to price control.

Related, dumping not perfect but edible product.

Yes. For example, there is a corn shortage right now. due to varying factors. (labour and unfavorable climate activity, in California; Drought.... )
This year, I'm doing an indoor veg and pot garden. Built my sandbox with my friend, gonna get a grow tent and do this shit in the winter. Got inlined fans, filters, carbon, LED array with full spectrum, timers, temp controls/readers. We good.

Probably peppers (both hot and mild/sweet) and 2 Dog varieties with regards to the Weedies. I'm thinking maybe green leaf lettuce and vert pot of tomatoes. Undecided, atm.

is there grain in toilet paper?

because i dont want to see another panic induced TP shortage

We all ought to hunt/raise/grow our own food. Along the line somewhere we all (our ancestors and us by extension) traded our autonomy/self-sufficiency for slavery, er um, I mean "security".

its still going on. but now with tech and subscriptions.

want to get through the airport faster? give us your biometrics and pay us to use them!

trading responsibility and ownership for convenience.

granted its a natural and unavoidable evolution, at least for our ancestors and their smaller societies. i think the system broke though once it started to scale up

Yes, I think we simply aren't designed for large-scale society. Granted, things are always evolving (including us).

One thing is certain imho, if we are to integrate in the direction things are moving, an ever-evaporating notion of freedom will be the cost. Personally, I'm not on board.

Imagine the first time that there are only 30 different kinds of sugar infused cereal in your local grocery store(s) instead of the fucking aisle of childhood diabetes it is today.

Kind of outrageous society normalized this as healthy breakfast food for children. Damn corpos ruin everything.

Grandma? Tell us about the collapse of society again.
Well you see, little ones, it all started with Fruity Pebbles...
Haha seriously child obesity is a huge societal issue. Those damn fruity pebbles started it all.
