[ABC] Real Madrid is filing a criminal complaint against Javier Tebas, Javier de Jaime and the CVC fund "for unfair administration and fraud". Data send to the clubs state that if La Liga maintains the 10% growth rate, CVC could earn up to €229.4B from La Liga while investing 2.7B.

[Javier Tebas] Had dinner with @JoanLaportaFCB on 14 July, discussed and handed over documentation on the CVC issue to @FCBarcelona_es executives, they explained the successful deal with Messi... “enthusiasm in abundance”. #TheTruth The Super League worth a Leo Messi

I'm glad that Ferran talked some sense into Laporta skull and made him change his mind on this deal but it is very disappointing that he was for it up until that point.

[Onda Cero] In PSG they are very clear that they want to fit all the players [including Mbappe]. The next time PSG can be sanctioned is in 3 years. Therefore, what they want is to win the Champions League and if they are sanctioned in 3 years it will have been worth it.

Easing FFP rules because of COVID is a two edge sword, it was obvious to everyone and some clubs will not use it in good faith. PSG is just one of them.

£1m per week for Messi to literally play against third division rate teams, wew lad. I’d be amazed if they win the Champion’s League, you need a bit of chemistry rather than 11 galicticos, City tore them apart with ease last season twice with players like Zinchenko and John Stones. Good luck to them though, I’m sure they’ll hammer Chateo Dé Ballsack 8-0 every week.

They really should have cashed in last year.

His wages in recent years have decimated them. Fortunately for Barcalona they have the crux of a extremely young & talented side, that are still to make a name for themselves.

So they will be fine. It's a shame about Agueros injury though.

Officially signed for PSG. Looks pretty downbeat on the pitch once the promo has finished.

Got to say, I love all the mass hysteria over City signing Grealish after making £50m in sales this window, but this deal is being met with absolute apathy (same for Lukaku going back to Chelsea for £98m). Do human rights only matter when Man United and Liverpool can’t win trophies?

Barcelona did a lot of stupid deals in recent years that did not benefit the club but the biggest problem is that they were living on the edge then COVID happened and exposed that hard making them pay the price.

Do you feel that Manchester City have a complete team now? are you comfortable for this season UCL and BPL?

Yeah Messi should've been let go last year. His salary is completely out of touch. Especially now. Everyone says Messi gave Barcelona a lot, which is true though there were a winning side before he made his breakthrough as well. But he also took like 500 million euros over the last few seasons. That final construction, a 5 year contract for a 34 year old player is something you shouldn't want as a club, Barcelona should be happy that it didn't come through. PSG also signed him for just 2 years with an optional third. Its not like Barcelona won anything significant the last few seasons, with Messi on board. You need more than just that.

I think Laporta isn't unhappy with this. During the press conference and his interviews I can't shake that feeling off. He's a sly fox after all. And the way they've laid it out is that all the blame is on La Liga and Bartomeu. So Laporta can rebuild, get out of debts while he's just offloaded Messi without taking any blame for it.

Maybe I'm a bit too romantic but we had Robben under contract last year. He basically agreed with no wages, just a small fee when he played. When you're so loaded like these guys are, you can also show a bit of loyalty. I wonder if that really wasn't an option for Messi. I guess 750 million isn't enough. Its also his salary, and his past recommendations (signing Tata Martino etc, recently Aguero) that hurt the club.

Do you really think City signing Grealish got more of a negative reception than PSG signing Messi? The thread on the Messi transfer is full of people unhappy about it, the City/Grealish one didn't get anything like that response.

Yeah for sure. Sky Sports News actually had the audacity to use the ‘think of the children’ line.

Because the children who support Southampton, Everton and Tottenham completely understand it and forgive it when United and Liverpool historically pillaged them.

The absolute wailing and gnashing of teeth from the media and mainly United/Liverpool fans crying about FFP was a sight to behold.

And this;

Why is signing Grealish for £100m, when we’ve sold £50m of players, as concerning as PSG this window (who’ve added £3-5m per week in weekly wages to their wage bill)?

Like how are City and PSG’s windows comparable? PSG have also spent £70m on Hakimi and Pereira and have only recouped £6m in outgoings. This doesn’t include the guaranteed huge signing on bonuses for the free agents Messi, Donnarumma, Ramos and Wijnaldum which will probably total over £50m. The clubs aren’t comparable at all.

Why are Chelsea not included in this when they’re spending £98m on Lukaku and have a wealthy backer?

Not really, we are good but so are Chelsea and I expect United and Liverpool to do well also.
i think going into a season with just Jesus as a actual striker is a risk you shouldnt take, especially with the money you have

as a united fan, it does give me more hope though so i am fine with it :)

only thing i would say is, Messi probably made 3x that for the club in image rights and sponsors

Laporta is a snake there is no doubt about it, he always try to shift blame for anything on others even if he was the one who did it.

do you guys have a FPL league?

We currently don't as far as I know but I think we are open to have one or more for sure :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

[El Español] Barcelona to pay Messi a loyalty bonus of €39M despite not extending with the team and joining PSG

Every euro matter to Barcelona at the moment.
I realise they were locked into this one because of his contract. But it's properly mad how Barcelona spend money. Them still signing four new players despite knowing how fucked their finances are is bizarre.

The loyalty bonus became a standard a while ago sadly (I think it's a joke) and is in the contract when they first sign it so Barcelona is not blame for this, the amount is high though but once you consider it's Messi it is not hard to imagine.
About the new players they are in the spot where if you don't buy anyone to rebuild you risk sinking down further but if you try to spend to be competitive you dig a deeper hole for yourself.

I get that from a football sense they need to get in new players to rebuild, especially now that Messi has gone. But, as things stand right now, they literally cannot afford to. And while I'm guessing none of them are on total superstar wages I also doubt they are that cheap either. Are they really going to try and ask Aguero to take a pay cut when they fucked up him getting to play with his best friend? Are players like Griezmann, Coutinho or Dembele going to take wage cuts? Who are they going to unload when only a select few clubs have money to spend just now?

Hence the dilemma I talked about. Don't spend money and you're losing status that you need for better sponsorship, spend money that you don't have and you risk not being able to financially support yourself to bounce back. If they could get rid of Griezmann, Coutinho or Dembele (or at least they cooperate with the club) they could pull it off but these 3 players wadges are the biggest hurdle to Barcelona fixing their financial situation.

Seeing as the situation is so dire they should offer each player a one off payment of £10m-£20m and ask them to cancel their contract and find a new club. One off outlay of £60m or bleeding £5m on their monthly wages for the foreseeable. Club is a giant, bloated mess. They’d be better off without those 3 players, and they still have promising players like De Jong (another on obscene wages?) and Pedri.

If I was a club that still has money to spend I'd say fuck it and whack down an offer for Pedri. See how desperate Barcelona really are.

Maybe they were already offered a similar deal, the thing is these players will not accept such offers because they simply make more money staying.

Messi: "La Liga still is a top competition. Other players have left in past and the clubs continued to exist and to perform. In the end, the important thing are the clubs. Barca and Real Madrid but also Sevilla, Valencia & Atlético. In a few years, the big stars will come back to Spanish football."

Life always go on, the clubs need to make sure their finances are healthier than the the clubs in other leagues, that will help a lot in the future.

[COPE] The Assembly of La Liga approves CVC Investment Deal - 38 clubs in favor, 4 rejected. The clubs that rejected will not give up their audiovisual rights.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Club and Real Oviedo are the clubs that rejected itand thus will keep their full audiovisual rights.

[VSportSuomi] The owner of Bundesliga broadcast rights in Finland had requested Bundesliga to send them clip of Pohjanpalo speaking in Finnish promoting the league. Instead of that, they accidentally made Håland speak Finnish and send that clip to them.

So what's the downside to rejecting it if they get to keep the rights? Why wouldn't more do the same?

What's the talk from earlier about a negative stance on Grealish joining City? Is it about the fee?

Every other league and UEFA eased the FFP rules to help the clubs mitigate COVID impact on their finances, however Tebas did not and kept the FFP rules in Spain as strict as they were before COVID effectively putting all the clubs in a vice then now close to the transfer window closing and when the clubs have to register their players he is making this offer to them, basically take it or you are screwed since he will not ease FFP rules. I think he should be investigated.

I think that most think he is good but the fee is inflated to the moon and back.

Sure, I get why the deal was put in place. But you said Real Madrid, Barcelona, Athletic Club and Real Oviedo are getting to keep their rights. If I'm another La Liga club is it not unfair that those clubs are getting to keep their rights? What's the downside to having voted no? Do the clubs that voted no not get the financial help that comes with the deal?

You are correct the clubs that rejected the deal do not get the money from the deal, they keep their full share of the audiovisual money though unlike the other clubs. The deal is for 50 years.
