12 Minutes Review

AV

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Played last night, I think I've nearly finished it based on my last loop before I had to go to bed.

It's decent, that's about it. Gets incredibly repetitive even for a timeloop game, feels like it was pushed out without a handful of super simply quality of life options - no "restart" on the pause menu, really? It's often quicker to alt+f4 and reload the game than it is to reset manually. The mystery you unravel is incredibly boilerplate, almost on purpose, at least as far as I am with it. Voice acting is superb although you should expect no less from Hollywood A-listers, what does confuse me is why you'd hire and English woman and a Scot to voice Americans; I don't think I'd have recognised Daisy Ridley if I didn't already know it was her. Encountered quite a few bugs, one forced me to restart a loop, feels quite unpolished.

But, it's a perfect Game Pass game. Something to spend an evening or two with as part of a subscription. I'd be unhappy if I'd spent £21 on this but it's incredibly hard to argue with it as part of a subscription service.

You can reset at (mostly) any point by leaving through the front door.

I know. I'm saying that sometimes, like when you're about to be grappled by the cop, it's quicker to exit and reload the game than it is to wait. Just weird there's no menu option in a game about constantly restarting.

I beat it with the true ending yesterday in one sitting.

The game either requires a replay or some key parts or the story made really no sense by the end, but it's good enough with some surprising twists to keep you going.
Repetition only felt a bit tedious when failing a "loop" by making a small mistake against the clock, but it pays off after coming up with an idea that works and pushes the story forward.
Character models are PS2 quality at best, with some serious animation and collision problems when the game tries to accommodate for player character interactions happening in less than ideal places.

But it's easy to look past those issues as the game delivers a fresh and unique take on the point-and-click adventure genre, I enjoyed it and I'm curious to see where they go next.

I don't care about post history, i'm not one of those psycho fanboy stalkers. "like a load of trash right now" is no critic to me, it's just devastating. Calling Flight Simulator, The Ascent, Hades or 12 minutes trash sounds like the usual PS BS to me.
And I don't give two shits if you don't like how I criticise gamepass. I use whatever words I want and "trash" felt like most appropriate option. If you get triggered and upset because someone doesn't like the same things as you then that's a you problem.

No PS BS here or trolling I just think a lot of these recent high profile gamepass games have been "trash". Do you think it's outside the realm of possibility that someone just doesn't like these recent high profile games, or is it automatically PS BS? It would be quite funny if you continue down the PS BS route since I've mentioned numerous times I prefer the Series X.

Game had an interesting premise and is a solid adventure game that requires a lot of thinking and careful consideration to progress..

The ending was pretty not good imo tho

Absolutely loving this game. Its the best reinvention of graphical adventures (point and click for some) I've ever seen.
There's some references to classical movies like The Shinning that are just simply phenomenal.
What a wonderful surprise of a game, and thanks Gamepass, becuase I'd never buy this game or even come to my radar otherwise.

Game sounds super intriguing and has all the right cinematic references. Any TAT for the PlayStation versions?

You don't really. I guess you will know when you have the ability to kind of "skip" some sections by initiating a dialogue option because you've "learned" that bit in the story. But nothing screams at you that you reached a checkpoint or whatever

Ahh i see thanks

Do i eventually run out of time? Or will loops keep going till I figure it out?

just finished it. Wont spoil, but the thing is that you need to play several loops to complete it. Is not possible to do it in one try.

I played for a couple of hours today! I'm really liking it so far. First time I got the upper hand on the cop was by complete accident lol. I think I know where the story is going but there's probably a few twists and turns coming up. Gonna keep playing it tomorrow for sure.

Got the "true" ending, which is definitely more satisfying than the one I got before it. Assuming it's the definitive/"true" end since you no longer are stuck in the hallway/empty apartment afterward and the game actually starts over.

The games plot definitely sits better with me now as one of the bigger lingering questions has been answered. Still wish the dialogue flowed more naturally and that the characters were developed further, as per my previous critiques, but I'd bump it up to a 7.5 from a 7 after getting the final end.

So, not completely sure if i finished it, but i'm like 5 hours in and i think i broke the loop...
Probably my favorite game of this year, super good shit and it was not overly long nor expensive, what a treat.

As a massive fan of old school point and click adventures this was wealth worth playing. I thoroughly enjoyed, only issue was that I completely landed on the main plot point before the end which took some of it away maybe.

I still have some things I could try I think but I believe I have completed it.

This is why I rate game pass so much. If they can deliver these types of games that are perfect for a Friday night as well as bigger games it's the perfect service but that's a discussion for another thread.

I advise peeps to try this, was well worth the time investment imo.

When you hit continue can you still walk into the hallway and empty apartment?

Finished it. I loved figuring out how to progress in the game, but, man, the writing and characterisation sucks in it. Just awful sub-Shamalayan levels of overly serious garbage. And the handling of certain dramatic beats and that twist was ruined by the limitation of its own gameplay/storytelling mechanics. Still, I appreciate creator’s vision and ambition to do something slightly different with the medium.

I absolutely love this. The story is a little bit cliche, at least until where i played, but it's a great take at the point and click genre

Liked it. I think the games endings start to click once you realize the strangeness of why the
"father" and cop
are voiced the same and even turn into the same character model later.

I finished it tonight in a couple of long sessions. Not sure why they bothered hiring Hollywood actors when two of them could have been replaced by generic game voice actors and it would have sounded the same but the Green Goblin was great as usual.

Really great concept and nice enough story with a wild twist but the execution just wasn’t quite there.

I’m glad I played it but would have liked it to be less restrictive. It is strangely like a Phoenix Wright game in that there really should be multiple ways to solve a puzzle but there is only ever one which is a bit frustrating.

I almost died laughing watching Forsen play this. Such a master at making games look stupid and broken.

There are at least a couple puzzles that can be solved in multiple ways like
Proving to your wife that you're in the time loop, first time I played I used the watch and the baby clothes but found out later you could also warn her about the thunder.

All in all I really loved this game. Not everyone will be okay with the repetition required, but I found the whole thing really engaging.

I echo some of the comments about the voice actors though, I would've had no idea that was Daisy Ridley if they hadn't told me up front, not that she didn't do a good job.

Finished it last night and I loved my time with it. It was something new, something fresh! I just started a second playthrough to get all the achievements. Once you know what to do you can finish it in like 30 minutes.

I would love for a big AAA studio to tackle a similar project. With better graphics, more choices and a bigger scope! But all and all I loved my time with 12 Minutes.

I'm sure a lot of people are going to spend a lot of time chin stroking and nodding sagely about how profound they found the story to this game, but really gang... if your explanation for your time loop game, and everything that happens in it boils down to
'I just can't resist her, even though she's my sister'
... then it's not profound in the slightest :messenger_tears_of_joy:

...also, they could and should have made each loop a little more different. Extra dialogue, a more interesting location - something. Because after a while this becomes Click Through Dialogue As Fast As You Can: The Game.

A nice attempt at a time loop game, but ultimately a bit of a failure of both execution and narrative.

Oh everyone that didn't finish it will think it's good.
After going through the day playing it without a guide and actually hitting one of the endings I say it's complete garbage.
Obtuse AF (not in the old adventures "good way") with a story short and poorly executed. Disconnected dialogue makes everything so laughably worse.

I'm 100% behind Skill up review. This will be remembered alright, but save yourself some hours and watch this crap on youtube.
After checking and getting the remaining endings it doesn't get any better and I was hyped for it.

Finished it, still love it. Sure, the story/ending is kind of cliche, the game had some logic errors, wrong translations and bugs, but it's still much more creative than what Sony and Microsoft offered this year. This game > any soulless 3rd person action adventure, sports game or shooter.

I suck. I tried 8-10 days and I just don't see anything else to try.
Had some trouble too. Missed 2 things. One (finding the watch) was just stupid of me, because it actually was super easy and logical. But the other was quite hard. Don't think i would have found out without help. Some Achievements were super hard too.

Did two endings. Thought it was great for a Friday night. Not bothered about all the achievements so will stick to the two I got naturally.
