So I finished the Assassination Classroom manga, it was fine but I didn't care about any of the characters at all.

Going to try this next, has anyone else read it?

Lol there's an Edens Zero anime now?

The level of success Mashima has had just recycling the same characters and power of friendship story lines over and over again is impressive.
That’s been airing for months now. I haven’t watched it and don’t plan to, but there was some hype for it when it started airing. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I like to watching vinland saga anime and It definitely is. If you love action, historical and seinen anime, go watch it. The art, animation, music and voice acting are amazing. If you love Wit Studio and Attack on Titan, you'll love this too.
You know, I don't know if it was Thorfinn losing EVERY fight, but I hated Vinland Saga so much. I didn't care for the story or the characters that much. I'd have rather seen a prequel when Thors was fighting in the war. The action was great but interrupted too much with the boring plot. There was also never a satisfying redemption moment, and I felt robbed of any sort of satisfaction at the end of season 1. I won't be watching part 2.

I'm enjoying Edens Zero so far. It's Fairy Tail in Space which I'm fine with since I really like Fairy Tail. The writer sure loves his busty blondes, doesn't he?

So I caught up on Ghost Reaper Girl and catching up on Kaiju No.8.

Ghost Reaper Girl is about Chloe Love an aspiring actress who bumps into a Kai Lod, a spirit from Hades and Noel Ulthar, a soul predator. The 3 of them team up to defeat evil spirits who are taking over Tokyo. Chloe can merge with Kai, Noel and other spirits to gain various powers.

Kaiju No8 is about Kafka Hibino, a 32 year old military school drop out cleaning up dead Kaiju dead bodies. Due to certain circumstances he becomes a mini Kaiju himself and starts helping fight them.

Both books come with all the usual shonen stuff including both characters being basically invincible and able to take on most adversaries with little trouble. It's a massive shame that the majority of these characters in these types of books ever have to earn their skills. Despite that I'm still finding both books fun and will continue to read them.

I've also subbed to the Azuki manga app and am going to start reading Flowers Over Evil as soon as I am caught up on Kaiju No8.

Wife and I finally finished all 220 episodes of Naruto. Those last 70 episodes were a fucking slog to get though. Took us a month to get through the first 140 or so episodes, multiple months to get through the back end.

The start of Shippuden felt so damn refreshing. I would have preferred to see Naruto train with Jaraiya for 20-30 episodes than watch the majority of those shit missions he went on.

So yeah, loved the first half of Naruto, last 70 eps were shit.
Inuyasha is a better anime imo.

I bailed at around episode 150 and never looked back. Kept reading the manga until it ended. Takes much less time imo.

You went through all of the Filler? Wow. You can just avoid those and the ones in Shippuden if you're not feeling masochistic. There's some stuff that's fun in them but most of it is really boring.

Wife and I are in for the long haul. I have the list of filler episodes for Shippuden so I'll know when to temper expectations.
We hated how Sakura was so damn weak in Naruto, really happy she got a massive power increase in Shippuden.

Finished episode 20 of Darling in the Franxx, I'm really not sure if I like this plot twist that has shown up. The show explains who APE really are and it's left me a bit hollow. Absolutely nothing has hinted this revelation so it's not very fulfilling. I like the explanation as to how Earth is in it's current state though and why they don't reproduce. And I still love Hiro and Zero 2.

Ikuno revealing her feelings for Ichigo was really touching. The disruption to Kokoro and Mitsuru's wedding made me really angry!!!

And I finished Darling in the Franxx, it was fine I guess. Just way too much shit happened in the last 4 episodes and in the end the story didn't make sense as a whole.

The VIRM are a huge freaking empire, it took Hiro and Zero 2 years to reach them while battling and killing countless other VIRM along the way. Why the hell are VIRM sitting on their arses on Earth doing nothing when they could have just invaded with their trillions of military personnel 100 years earlier? It made no sense. I know the Klaxo Sapiens defeated them 60 million years ago but the VIRM empire grew and grew in that time while the Klaxo Sapiens were basically extinct.

Berserk "officially" ended, and I disliked something that the final chapter "revealed".

Maybe or probably I missed this detail while reading amid so many years of hiatus, but I really dislike that Griffith is the Moon Child.
I understand, Griffith used the fetus body to be reborn in the human world, but I was hopping that the fetus only had lost it's physical body and that spiritual body was how his physical body should had looked like normally. I really wish that the kid was Casca's and Guts child, not Fucking "Did Nothing Wrong" Griffith!

Trigger anime always gets ridiculous at the end. I always liked how overboard they go.

Ya we made the mistake of not looking up a guide and watched every episode of Naruto… but now I have a filler watch list so we’ll be skipping all non manga episodes going forward.

Anybody reading Zipman!? It's basically My Hero with mechs but I've only read the first chapter. From what I can tell, I'm liking it so far. I like my hot blooded protags and the MC definitely that.

Wasn't it canceled? I read the couple first chapters a while back and really liked it.

Does anyone know why sometimes, for the same show, some seasons will be available for download on netflix and some won't?

I'm watching hunter x hunter on netflix and you can only download the first 4 seasons to watch offline. Season 5 and 6 can only be streamed. I know some shows like Walking Dead can only be streamed, but different seasons of the same show? Strange.

Just finished rewatching Fate Grand Order Babylonia and really enjoyed it. Such a great cast of characters and I also think this one has the best sound effects in the franchise along with the best OP & ED (the second ones) in the entire franchise.
I need to see when that Camelot movie comes out...

I've been getting back into anime something fierce over the last month or so. Currently I'm watching mha, parasyte and an old favorite of mine, cowboy bebop. Also finished the first season of demon slayer and both seasons of one punch man.

Wife and I watched Parasyte a few months ago and we didn't think much of it. It was just OK. Have you finished it yet? Are you enjoying it?

What's MHA?

Yeah, I'm liking it enough. Its nothing amazing, but its decent. I've only got about 4 episodes left.

As, for what MHA means, someone already answered. I was just too lazy to type the whole name out.

I actually thought that Parasyte was pretty amazing. Subverted my expectations several times. Actually made the MC change make sense. Had an ending that felt like an ending. I pretty much binge most of the series within a day. It didn't do the typical annoying anime cliches like most series do, Demon Slayer and Tokyo Ghoul. And then afterwards I found out the manga was made in the late 80s and influenced several mangas, no wonder I enjoyed it so much.

I think it doesn’t have the annoying tropes because it’s based on an old manga. It’s good to watch an anime that doesn’t try to pander to current trends. I enjoyed Parasyte a lot when it came out. The last third was very satisfying with the antagonist, the relationship between Shinichi and Migi, the desperate fights for survival, and how the themes were emphasized in the last episode.

Totally agreed. It was refreshing to see something wasn't that cliched.

What I hated about it, and quite a few anime do this, is that the first 15 or 16 episodes or so take place over a number of days / weeks and then the final 8 episodes or so involve the "final" confrontation. It's a pacing issue for me, it starts of fast paced and then slows right down with the final confrontation or confrontations.
If that makes sense.

Eh, to me, it's fine as long as the payoff is good enough to warrant that and I felt it worked well enough.

I see Kaiju No.8 is following similar story beats like in Jagaaaaaan (the MC gets to be used for police/military/defense purposes). I sure hope it manages to differentiate itself.
Speaking of Jagaaaaaan, I’m liking it again after they kidnapped Kimihito . Just get rid of Nomen already please.

Taking a break from Naruto to watch How I got reincarnated as a slime. This show is pretty funny, we’re enjoying it. Reminds me of that other show something like “I didn’t want to get hurt so I maxed out my defense” gf and I loved that one. This seems similar to it so far.

Waiting on Jagaaaaaaan to end. It's been fun. Is Kaiju No.8 worth reading?

I really like slime. It's one of the shows I wish would be a complete adaptation/story.

Jagaaaaaan is ending? :<

As for Kaiju No. 8, I like the art style, main characters, fights so far. It feels like it's still in its early phases 40+ chapters in, but it's been good. Although I'm hoping to see something different, I don't think I've wasted time reading it.

Finished reading Happyness by Shuzo Oshimi, same mangaka that did Flowers of Evil.
It's a vampire story about 2 main characters, Makoto Okazaki who gets bitten in the first volume and Yukiko Gosho who is a girl he befriends. The name of the book pretty much tells you straight up what sort of themes the story explores. Things change quite drastically half way through the story and the perspective is shifted. I won't explain how or why in case anyone wants to read it. I enjoyed it quite a bit and recommend it.
The art can be pretty rough sometimes and can look very amateur, the below images don't really show how bad it can get. Seems like Shuzo Oshimi was desperately trying to make deadlines.

Now I need to finish Flowers of Evil but the last volumes aren't available on Azuki or Comixology!!!

Well just got through rewatching the last half of DBS Broly. I must say that after this time of rewatching it I really dislike the new style. The inking? for the characters just looks terrible to me. Like the lines are so thick and just looks ugly. The backgrounds look great in the movie but the characters really don't match up with them. You got the realistic backgrounds at times, the cg ships, and the cartoony characters, it just looks weird when put together. I think the style of art they made with the characters would have worked for a more goofy anime and kind of reminds me of the western cartoons we get nowadays with how basic the art looks sometimes with it's thick lines.

I was originally watching the movie because I wanted to listen to the music of the fight scenes but them saying the names of the characters in the music although it did create hype at times just seems weird most of the time.

On a more positive note I'd say I prefer the style of Vegeta and Goku versus Jiren even though it wasn't anywhere near as flashy as the DBS Broly movie.

Finished up parasyte. Overall, it was a decent series. Without going into spoilers, the final episode was a bit anti climactic. It would've been better if the episode before was the last one.
