I haven't watched this video yet, but I can already guess a large portion of the video will be about the controls.

The controls of that game is just weird.

The hardware side of Nintendo made a piece of shit (because of internal conflict over how to follow wii) and so the software side was forced to shoehorn the piece of shit into the most shafted franchise ever.

Just load up a playlist of the original game soundtrack and go back to dreaming of what could have been.

The Wii-U should have been an internal, transitional hardware design that was then skipped to continue on with the switch.

In the old days companies with valuable reputations didn't actually ship their beta products. Can we go back to that?

The demo didn’t accomplish into getting you into the Star Fox world (all range mode, planets etc.) I was really into Star Fox 64.

Miyamoto is a genius and god of gaming, but this was clearly his beautiful mind moment.

His equations became too complicated to be recognised by the world around him.

I mean let's be real here the controls were an issue but the game looked like shit. Even for the WiiU.

Starfox is a series I think that needs the nail in the coffin.

I think and will always think the direction to take Starfox is another attempt at Star Fox Assault with especially the multiplayer and an online version of it. There is no much potential here but Nintendo don't want to put the money in.

Nintendo just doesn't know where to take it and fans are constantly asking for remakes of the first game even though that's what pretty much all of them have been since.

Speaking to VGC this week, Platinum’s studio head Atsushi Inaba said that if Nintendo was interested, the developer would “definitely” be interested in considering a new version of Zero. However, any potential changes would be up to Mr. Miyamoto.

Asked if Platinum would be interested in a Switch port of Star Fox Zero, Inaba said: “It’s not cool that people aren’t able to play older games because they’re locked out of the platform, so of course if anything was possible we’d like to bring over any of those older titles to the newer platforms.

“It kind of depends on what’s in the realm of actual possibility, but yeah, if the chance came up it’s definitely something we’d like to think about.”

Most of the criticism of Zero was targeted at its complicated control scheme, which had players dividing their attention between the TV and Gamepad.

A potential Switch port, which would need to work in Portable mode on a single screen, would presumably remove this controversial element. However, Inaba stressed that all design decisions would need to be led by Nintendo.

“The important thing to remember there is that because it’s Nintendo’s IP, the ideas are coming from Miyamoto-san himself,” he said. We have to respect what Miyamoto-san wants to do.

“Of course, at that time there was a lot of discussion between Platinum and Nintendo, but if the opportunity came up to bring Star Fox Zero to the Switch again it would be more of a question of what he would like to do in that opportunity, and of course we would respect that again.”

Asked if giving feedback to someone as prestigious as Mr. Miyamoto was difficult, Inaba said:

“Mr. Hashimoto was working on Star Fox as director at the time, but he’s no longer with [PlatinumGames]. He was probably the one who had the most trouble taking the ideas to Mr. Miyamoto, because aside from how he is personally, he is a giant in the industry and somebody who a lot of creators look up to. So, it takes a lot of courage or anyone to go to him with ideas or feedback.”

Oh he's had plenty of blunders. Let's not forget about Wii Music.

Everything after Pikmin basically.
Regarding Star Fox Zero, Miyamoto said that it was Iwata that told him to make a game where using the display was necessary .
Also, with Wii Music, Iwata gave Miyamoto the basic idea and had him develop it further.

I think the last good games he was heavily involved with was Super Mario Galaxy 1&2.

Best reason to still own a Wii U. I loved this game, and Starfox Guard.

I'd get it again on Switch just to see how much it changed, but they will never top the true dual screen version.
