Remasters of PS4 games to PS5 games are honestly a rip off

After the showcase, seeing GTAV and Uncharted 4 looking exactly the same as the PS4 version except in 60fps and 4K. To me it feels like a scam. Yes we had the same on PS3 to PS4 Remasters with Last of Us, and a ton of other games like Bioshock, but atleast the PS4 wasn't backwards compatible and PS3 architecture was completely different so you knew developers were putting effort converting the games to run on PS4. But with these PS5 remasters even Mark Cerny said developing a game on PS5 is no different than a PS4. Both PS4 and PS5 share the same architecture. Developers like Neverrealm and Respawn have made native versions of there games for free. Even a non native 4K60 patch would suffice. I honestly wouldn't mind a remaster if it was like Spiderman with RT support, new textures and models, improved graphics etc but Uncharted just looked higher resolution and 4K.

If they do some extra work to improve the game for a PS5 native version and don't want to work for free, it's up to them. If you don't like these remasters, paid upgrades and so on, don't buy them.

Nobody forces you to buy them, and you can always play the PS4 game in a PS5 for free without all the PS5 extras like way shorter loadings, adaptative triggers, haptic feedback, 3D audio and so on.

If you already bought them on the ps4 and don't think they're worth buying it again, just wait... They will probably end up on ps+ or something later.

Yeah don't need adaptive triggers and etc. But atleast throw a bone and unlock that framerate to 60fps. That's not really putting resources unlocking frame rate. There are hackers who have unlocked framerate on Bloodborne on PS4 Pro, Last Guardian unpatched runs at 60fps. We all know unlocking framerate isn't a big task, but unfortunately these Devs just wanna charge more. Like for example I had no issues with Ghost of Tsushima remaster as they did unlock the framerate for PS4 version so can easily ignore the remaster and extra features.

Yup its pure fuckery to have to pay $70 for 2 patches.

Especially since plenty of PS4 games have been patched for free.

So don't buy it. It's for those who haven't played them.

UC4 and LL for example are cash grabs because I doubt much work will be done other than frame rate and higher native res.

Because frame rate is the most noticeable upgrade, they won't release a 60fps patch because otherwise people will wonder what they did to warrant paying for a remaster lol.

So don’t buy it?

Nobody is forcing you to.

I prefer my cinematic adventures to look exactly that…cinematic. So I won’t be “upgrading”

These 60fps “upgrades” just make them look like daytime soap operas.

To each their own…🤷🏻‍♂️

Fuckin crybabies looking to shit on SONY any way they can huh?

I want the upgrades and I want them to keep making them, they just need to be fairly priced. 80% of the work is done, they should be $20.

I think it really depends on what they all do. A resolution and fps update shouldn't cost anything but if they put in a lot of work then I don't mind paying (not $70 though).

It's disgusting. All they have to do is unlock the framerate. GoW, Killzone shadow fall, infamous second son and the last guardian literally run at 60 fps out of the box. there is no work required beyond adding a new toggle or removing the 30 fps cap from the config file. this is pretty fucking embarrassing at this point.

So what part of what you said has anything to do with being a scam?

More like 95% of the work is done. They should be free

Think that is bad? Ask Nintendo fans.

If you want classic games on your DS, DSlite, 3DS, Gameboy, switch etc. You have to buy the game on each console to play it on said console. Yes they could make an account that spans multiple consoles but the same fools keep buying the same games multiple times.

So you LIKE the idea?

your favorite company could not have done this better you mean?

Why are there so many apologists on this board for corporate greed? You guys should be getting these upgrades for free. When PS6 comes out are you gonna pay $10 everytime for each of your games for the eventual 8K upgrade of your exclusives? Do think about this for a second.

I would be fine with just 60fps updates and with Uncharted there isn't a choice really. If you want to play the game boosted, you have to buy the remaster. I wouldn't even mind a 10 bucks upgrade if they go the extra mile on them (id pay that for Days Gone or GoW if they were boosted to native 4k, haptics, next-gen load times, 120hz modes etc), but it seems you simply have to buy this UC duo pack.

If you don't value it, don't buy it.

If you are only interested in framerate increases to be honest you are probably best off just switching to PC where the scalability of that is built in from the ground for most games and isn't subject to fixed performance profiles like consoles. Due to the fixed profiles, there is some work that goes in to upgrading engines to target new SDK versions for the more powerful hardware, testing, certification etc. I don't think it is unreasonable to recoup these costs, but I will judge on a game by game (cost by cost basis).

I played Uncharted 4 already and GTAV, not sure what they are charging, but regardless I'm probably not going to re-buy them unless I clear my ever growing backlog and by that time (if that ever happens) they may hit a price point I deem worthy or will be on PS+.

I’m shocked there’s not more. Why give away a free upgrade that people will pay for. Plus a quick easy remaster is something you can throw out in droughts between big releases.

I mean I don't blame Sony. A lot of their fans will buy and defend this (see how they justified Horizon 2 10$ increase) but I agree with you that it's dumb. A better way would be working on the new version and giving it for free for previous owners (The Witcher 3).
