[Push Square] Gran Turismo 7's PS5, PS4 Campaign Requires an Online Connection

I don’t why some MF try to make a war or downgrade GTsport and 7. Don’t like, don´t get it.

I´ll be there day one on PS5, just like for Sport.
Yeah, completely unacceptable way of leasing SP games under the guise of selling them...so glad I still have older Turismos without this.

I suspect the real problem to cause this is the crappy car manufacturers demanding this, so the rights to the end user for licensed vehicles isn't indefinitely - as I seem to remember an issue with an outrun game on the 360 getting delisted because of an expired Ferrari license.

I would happily have them offer a more expensive version of the game , or a barren version of the game without this requirement. I just don't accept trojan horse viruses in purchases.
this m’y friend. I think it´s about licencing too. polyphony digital has better things to do than that kind of shit. It was clearly ask by cars manufacters if the game receives upgrades for 4 or 5 years.

Forza games are playable offline and have car licenses too. They cannot be old after a certain amount of time, but there's no issue with them still being playable. This is just the same asshole power grab as it is always the case with always online.

The problem with Craig Turismo is not the always online but the cross gen graphics of it.

How much of a douche idiot can you be? :messenger_tears_of_joy: 🤔

You do know that that screenshot is from the 3D menu right?

That’s wierd. Why would it need that unless some of the content is online only? Maybe realtime dynamic weather or something similar?

Well, if there’s too much of an uproar I bet they can change it.
If u played GT Sport u would have an idea why its always online. The game feels conected, u have notification of what ur frinds are sharing, u can see they profile and progress, see the photos they are sharing, see or download the liveries they are sharing, leave comments in the stuff they sharing, etc, it feels like a GT social media.
The ingame stores will be selling diferent stuff depending of the day, they will have daily objectives for players to complete, etc. All this is fine and feels great, but they should let ppl advance in the single player offline if they wanted.
You can play GT Sport offline, but u are limited to arcade mode, and cant advance ur progress in single player races.

Online connection or Playstation Plus????
sneeze fail GIF
german smile GIF by Feliks Tomasz Konczakowski

What are you saying with these gifs??
I obviously have an internet connection since I’m here. Doesn’t mean I’m okay with paying an extra fee to play online.
Thought it was obviously clear, that you would need to have PS+. But i guess was wrong. Also no clue why i picked those gifs, did an overnight and slept thru the F1 race ...

My bad. I have no fucking clue what happened :p

They are also playable online. You can still play the multiplayer. But you can't buy them digitally anymore.

If you’re going to regurgitate retarded reasonings, you should atleast elaborate why the SP portion of a game should require a constant internet connection at all times.
Huh? GT Sport doesn't constantly require an internet connection at all times. I just disabled internet on my PS4 Pro, booted up GTS, and played a singleplayer race. Worked fine.

It requires an internet connection for some aspects of the game, but people complaining here clearly have not played GT Sport. Unless they're doing something different for GT7 than how it is right now in GTS, I don't see any issue.

We're back in 2013 and their is either Adam Orth or Ben Kuchera.
The ”Why would I want to live there?” guy?
I understand the issue if you live ”there” but let’s be real for the majority it was mostly console war, and games barely work without internet now anyway because of all the need for patches.

Not really a surprise, I reckon everything in the game will be integrated into a single living organism. At least they'll offer proper SP content on launch this time around.

Cool, but you progress won’t be saved unless you aren’t connected to their servers. That’s the issue and that’s how it will work now as well. Bullshit DRM for bullshit reasons.

Please be aware that any progress you make when you are offline cannot be saved (certain contents are saved onto the PlayStation®4 console's hard disk drive). If you are playing offline, you will be able to use previously saved game data.

For someone not giving a shit you seem quite invested in it, even shouting on the internet. That's the opposite of what you are trying to say.

Of course you can play but the progress does not save. If that's only an aspect of the game to you, then fine, but for others this is a crucial part of a game.

I’m fine with this but I know the world isn’t going to be.

i realise I’m someone with good internet and not everyone is in my position.

Maybe it's so they can sell real adds on the ingame billboards, Seen something about some other game doing that a while back I can't remember what (think it was a basketball game)

No, if it's like Sport your save file is stored on the server. A ping isn't sufficient.
Oh okay, still shouldn’t be too bad unless the save files are gigantic. I would agree that it’s bad on principle though. Just like PS+/XBLG.

As long as you don’t need PS+ it shouldn’t be a big deal, maybe it’s enough just to do internet sharing from your phone for a quick ping.
PS+ is only needed to online racing. All other online features just need an internet conection.

Probably to push microtransactions and other online related stuff unfortunately.

If that were true, why don't other driving simulators don't have this problem?
They are delisted when the time comes but you can play them both from digital and physical copies

It's because sport mode will be integrated so the garage will be shared across both single player and multiplayer.

I believe Forza motorsport 7 had a similar issue and was delisted as well.
