I want it to be successful just to prove to that one asshat that halo doesnt need BR to be successful

and with the MP being f2p and the positivity towards the flights, i feel like it will succeed

I’ve been enjoying the multiplayer, but I’m old and not that good at MP anymore. I’ve always enjoyed the campaigns more, so really hoping they nailed that. I also want Firefight back. PVE is more my thing over the PVP.

Also Craig needs to be somewhere in the game.

Halo Infinite will be the last multiplayer game that started development before the BR revolution.

It's going to be bittersweet.

As a PlayStation only console owner Halo is the only game that interests me from Xbox and Infinite is stacking up to be a return to form.

Prior to my time with Halo Infinite MP I would have called this nonsense and dumb, but I actually agree now. I'm a 100% campaign only player for the first time really trying out Halo MP and I think it's one of the best fucking MP shooting experiences I've ever had.

The campaign is still my most anticipated thing by far though, but this multiplayer is the real deal. 343 and Microsoft have a guaranteed hit on their hands with this game. Campaign just needs to really connect in a big way to complete the package. But I can't see how this fun a sandbox isn't even more incredible in a larger, more open campaign space. You'll have more to think about your approach, to survey, to plain out how you're going to engage with enemies. The grappleshot will be game changing, so too will the repulsor due to how friggin powerful that damn thing is, even propelling yourself straight up into the air the change how a firefight is going. So much potential.

Given F2P, crossplay, cloud play and a good to great showing with flights Halo Infinite is certainly set to be the largest performing Halo game in Halo history. Whether that statement is true remains to be seen. I'm expecting a very large showing at launch, some drop off and the usual ebb and flow as content is released over the coming 6, 12 and 24 months post launch.

The campaign is an interesting one in terms of sales. Why would you buy it when you know it's going to remain on Gamepass the entire time you're subbed? If you cease your sub then buy it down the track when it's discounted heavily. It's a bit different to third party titles that come and go from Gamepass, so I'm interested how sales will perform.

The mp is beyond excellent. I would be okay only playing it for a few months until the campaign was fully complete (with co-op) and polished. I am 100 percent convinced the campaign will get pushed to next year tbh. I was mad about it before but now i think thats fine.

I can't wait! I never played past halo 2 until I got a xsx and played through the rest in mcc. Add to that the multi-player and I think this is gonna be a huge hit

I believe it will be out too late for 2021 awards.

To me those awards are meaningless because not everybody has the same likes and dislikes. South Park Stick of Truth was my 2014 game of the year. How many would have said the same? The year Blue Dragon came out it was my game of the year. The year Lost Odyssey came out it was my game of the year.

I'll be surprised if it's even nominated.

By who? Actual gamers will know and I'd be surprised if it didn't get many fan top 3s in polls. Bullshit 'gamer critics' maybe won't but even then I would be surprised--it's unmistakably quality and a return to form for the series. With the last year or so of shooters being relatively rote and uninspired, you would have to have your head pretty far up your own ass to not recognize that the Chief is back and taking charge.

I agree with you in large part, I’m just saying that i think it’s past the cut off for this year, the game awards are the day after it comes out and lots of sites will give their awards before that.
Just for that awards show. Plenty of other GOTY awards aren't actually determined until the following year. Geoff Keighley's thumbs up isn't everything.
Yeah there are like 500 goty awards tracked :messenger_grinning_sweat: couldn’t begin to tell you when all of them are finished.

Geoff just has the biggest name now.

DICE and AIAS are likely more important. Similar to Academy Awards. The Game Awards is more like VMAs or the MTV Movie Awards.

Bro, I don’t really care, just replying to the guy that thinks Halo Infinite is GOTY material because of multiplayer. Hope it does tho, but campaign without co-op? What’s Halo without co-op?

Halo 5's campaign was SO generic, that it is the only game where I actually forgot what I was playing at one point for 2 full minutes. I was late in the game too, and had to rack my brain to remember, "oh yeah, Halo".

The challeng Halo will face isn't actually related to its quality, which I no doubt believe it'll be great. The real problem is that there are too many f2p fps MP games in the market rn. There's way too many competition.

I mean, when you buy Halo Infinite you're pretty much just being charged for the campaign, remember the MP is F2P, so I don't know how people who paid for it would feel if the game releases and the campaign is not ready yet.

In all honesty, I actually wish they ditched the campaign in Halo games nowadays and just spent ALL of the resources on making a massive multiplayer game.
Just soooooooooooo much content.

Halo is a game that should've ended a billion games ago.
Halo 1-3 is amazing, I think that the very end of 4 with Chief and Cortana is great too but the rest of the game was meh.
And after that it has just felt like shameless milking of the franchise.
Just let it end already...

They can still make a competitive multiplayer game without a campaign.

Edit: Especially since they could just ignore the lore and focus on fun, just go crazy with it.
It's so hard to take the story seriously when you know that they just have to desperately keep it going and going and going and going.
There's no end to it.
