Far Cry 6 - Official Review Thread

What bugs are you seeing?
From the reviews I've seen performance issues, and a minor annoyances that require loading previous saves. Nothing seems truly game breaking, but I'm not spending $60 on something that needed another month's worth of polish.

I fucking love Far Cry and they can keep making the same exact game in different locations for all I care. There is nothing like clearing out an outpost silently with the help of a few wild animals. I hope they have the companion mechanic like in 5 and New Dawn - loved the different play styles you could have depending on who you play with.

Also, fuck Polygon and fuck Vice for their reviews - let me shoot shit and not think about politics for once.

I've not seen anything that would require a hard reset of a save (I'm not even sure where the saves are as you only get one that is constantly saving in this game). This will get the requisite patching that any AAA game of this size gets, but I definitely wouldn't tell someone to hold off because of that. Probably the smoothest UBI game I've played in a long time.

Amongst the explosions and revolution in Far Cry 6 is a cool and intriguing easter egg in the form of QR codes. Well turns out they're more than just for show and come with their own secrets. Here's what we have found so far.

Far Cry 6 QR codes point to interesting teases and easter eggs for more to come in the Far Cry universe, including a reference to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the new animated, Netflix Far Cry show and more.

Gotta work in the morning so only got an hour in. One of the better intros to a FC game. Like the (male) protagonist. Nice use of color and welcome return to a tropical setting. As a console FC player, 60 fps is huge (playing on ps5) , game looks great, significant upgrade from FC5 on PS4.

And fucking Guapo. I was legit laughing out loud during the bit with his introduction. Zoomed out to see the major landmass after I get off tutorial island and I was like a starving man looking at a massive buffet. Im old and need my sleep so had to pinch it off, but the game makes a great first impression for FC fans.

Don't give a shit what Ubisoft haters think about Far Cry, I adore this series and really don't mind it not changing all that much. If it ain't broke don't fix it and the formula for Far Cry games is one that keeps me entertained everytime without fail. I think we all know Far Cry games aren't flawless and aren't the pinnacle of modern gaming but why does it have to be that? As long as it's a good ass time and plays well then that's all that should matter.

It makes me laugh seeing all these sad people come into this thread just to do their "Far Cry bad" jokes then run away, maybe that's fun to them, but I know I'm personally going to have WAY more fun blasting through Yara with a buddy online.

It’s FarCry. Amazing graphics. Silky smooth 60fps. Attack crocodile. Triggered games journalists. Yup I’m loving it.
The game really triggered polygon to the point where over half of their review was not even about the game. Not adding them to the list cause they are clowns and do not deserve it.

It did not trigger us though and I think our review turned out pretty good, because we do not follow the woke sheep ;)

What are they complaining about? Animal abuse?

I only played the first 10 min of the opening last night but I can't remember FC5 being this uneven with its characters and animations, Idk, it felt a bit weird to me.

This is a AMD sponsored game alright.. I had the flashing "Low VRAM" message "bug" up in the right corner during the entire prologue, on a RTX 3080, wtf, never seen anything like it. Finally managed to turn it off now (and got another warning to not to turn it off, lol). Most annoying thing ever.

Ok ...anyone else noticing on Ps5 that the resolution DOESN'T look like 1800-2160p DRS as per Elianisbits analysis?

I usually have a keen eye for this and I'm thinking he was wrong. Looks like a lower bounds of 1440p to me. Noticing pixel break up of foliage, some blurriness and soft image in the background. I REALLY hope I'm wrong as this was my big fear with this game.

Decided to buy after waiting to see a graphics analysis.. Learning that it was supposedly 1800-2160 but the irony is that analysis could be wrong. Compared to Far cry 5 on xb1x which was native 4k and absolutely pristine...anyone else thinking this? Shouldn't have trusted this guys analysis.

Digital has it already installed. Just check the game size. If it is around 70GB you already have the pack
Got mine on disc but yeah it's 70gb

Just wondering since it says HD pack in the corner and I thought the pack was supposed to be 4K?

Man this is messy.

Yeah, its really strange. Usually, I would expect that an auto-install would start with the disc. The digital version should come patched with the newest version.

Well, the overall feel is much more smoother than any previous entries in the series. Plus you have a lot of weapon variety and customization
Tbh weapon variety was never a problem for me and 5 was already pretty smooth in terms of aim\movements.

I thought you were talking about enemy reactions, animations etc. That from the videos looks the same stuff from the past 3 games or so.

But i'm gonna try the game myself tonight to see if i can understand what you mean.

Does not the high-res textures require more than 11GB of VRAM?

“It’s been said a number of times, but when Spanish-speaking people are talking in English, we’re not constantly cambiando a Español mid-sentence.”
The original version of the game is supposed to be in English, so they must speak in English to make sure the player understands it. But yes, some sentences will be in Spanish to support the setting of the game. I'd bet that if desired you can change the game language settings to Spanish, so you'll have full Spanish dubs.

A whiny bitch review from Polygon? I'm even more intrigued!

Because of sad fat-fuck men whose lives are a complete waste, and who must place all of their dying hope and and faded dreams on a video game, simply because they HAVE literally nothing else going for them in life?

I am willing to buy one of these tub-a-lubs a hooker if they'd just promise to try to get a hard-on and enjoy themselves.

Playing on Series X, buttery smooth and looks a decent upgrade over Far Cry 5 to me, still can see last gen roots but it looks nice. Also finding the setting and story more interesting than 5.
Played the first few missions and had a blast. It definitely hooks me more than Far Cry 5 did. Very interesting open world I can't wait to explore this weekend.

Do you think 1440p60 with mid-high-ultra details is possible on a 2070super\8600k stock/16gb ram ddr4 3200?!

I don't care about rtx, shadows, occlusion etc, if i can put details and texture on max i'm good with everything else on high\medium.

For some reason, I can get into Ubisoft's other open world games, but every new Far Cry game just feels like a Far Cry 3 all over again but not as good. The formula started to bore me with Far Cry 4 already so not surprised to see people getting bored now.

Here's a guy with a 3070 running FC6 with HD textures enabled on ~Ultra settings getting the message at 84fps:

It doesn't make any sense to me. Until proven otherwise I'd say Ubi has gone way too creative with their AMD sponsor deal..

There's an easy way to fix it. Once the game starts simply close Ubisoft Connect and voilà - problem solved. Not only the message disappears, strangely you also get a better performance all around.

I'm playing on 3080 and getting ~70FPS with all settings set to max and FidelityFX set to ultra quality. 0 problems with VRAM after playing for 5 hours.

I don't see a problem there, they talked to the guerrilla to make more realistic guerrilla stuff\writing\whatever buy that doesn't force them to make a political game.

A lot of devs talk with military guys to make their games more believable, it is not a ubisoft exclusive.
I meant it in a way, that media definitely take a bait with this. So I am fairly sure, this shit, influences what is going to be in reviews.

That only prove the state of videogame media press, not ubisoft doing anything wrong in my eyes.

Can you close uplay when the game start?! It Doesn't also close the game?!

According to the video from Hardware Unboxed in the opening post it seems possible.

Yes, you can. The game continues to run fine. You’ll get a message that some functionality won’t be available but I didn’t even noticed. I play single player.
